I figured xlore was meaning along the way we can check for them.
Ah ok so along the way to the fortress or the mine that Grimnar was cased out of?

Ok the way to the fortress is through the gorge and has two ogre's standing guard at the only entrance to the place and what looks to be gargoyles standing guard on the wall above. the pass in the gorge has cliff walls that have some random caves along the way but that is all that you find. If you get too close the ogre's will attack.

I could be misunderstanding, but I think that the gorge leads to the front door (guards by the ogres and gargoyles)

"I would recommend continuing with the plan of finding the caves clearing them out and looking for secret entrances and then if we do not find any we can work around to the back of the fortress from the top. And always having a the last cave to fall back to."

I assumed from what was written that it was a secret entrance/exit to the cave - was that an assumption or fact?

Therick Ulrazor: Sylvan Elf - Magic-User - Evoker - AC 10 - Hit Points: 8 / 8

Therick says, "Maybe we should have a look at some of those cave entrances along the cliff walls in the gorge before we attempt a frontal assault.

"If only we could do so without the guards noticing."

I thought the secret passage was just another entrance. Re-reading I think yes the gorge ends at the Ogres. I want to checkout some of the caves for another entrance but how to get into them without being seen is the issue. Night helps but the guards will also have infravision.

Therick Ulrazor: Sylvan Elf - Magic-User - Evoker - AC 10 - Hit Points: 8 / 8

Therick says to Egon, "Hmm, perhaps a diversion at night. One that interfers with their infra-vision, like causing a large distracting fire somewhere near them, could do the trick.
Then, while they are occupied with dealing with it, we can get up on at least one cliff side to get into one cave".

"I have 6 flasks of oil. Using it would make my lantern useless and I only have some candles for backup."

Turning to the 2 newer Dwarves in the group.

"Grimnar and Kravoud, I am carrying a set of magical plate mail that I painted black. I rarely use it, would one of you want to borrow it for now? I prefer my magical leather armor usually and it only fits a dwarf."

Kravoud

"Hm. Thank you, Egon. That depends on which of us needs it the most." He tries to assess if Grimnar wears better armor.

Grimnar has AC2 and Kravoud AC4: https://www.unseenservant.us/forum/view ... 598&t=7479 Would you be ok if Kravoud wears it, Draklin?

Both of you are correct. It was only one and it was an entrance/exit leading into and out of the cave you selected as a base camp.

The passage in the gorge only leads to the fortress as the fortress was described the walls go all the way to the gorge walls on all sides it is as if literally the fortress was build into the gorge to block it. The only way to the back is from another side of the gorge entirely as far as you know.

Egon

Kravoud looks to need it more. Worse AC and lower hp. Also something looks off with Kravoud's sheet. Are you a cleric or cleric/fighter? If a straight cleric you should be 3rd level. If a cleric fighter your hp look low and your next level xp should be different.
