15. Hunting the Troglodytes
Re: 15. Hunting the Troglodytes
Kaltar hops from foot to foot - the pent up tension plain to see. A smile is back upon his face.
Re: 15. Hunting the Troglodytes
Ewell starts to get a bit more comfortable in his area and attacks the closest trog, once again.
longsword to hit (+3 str bonus): [1d20+3] = 19+3 = 22 , damage1d8 (+4 str bonus): [1d8+4 ] = 4+4 = 8
btw---Ewell is down 15hp. he still has plenty, but might need a cleric to assist in a round or two.

Dave - presumably Ewell is touching distance from Kaltar isn't he?
Re: 15. Hunting the Troglodytes
Very busy day, so the update likely won't be out until later.... sorry! But, to answer this question:saalaria wrote:Dave - presumably Ewell is touching distance from Kaltar isn't he?
Kind of. Ewell did move a bit north, which is further away, and there are a few other factors preventing automatic success, not the least of which is an enraged half orc barbarian basically standing between you and the cavalier. Not to mention the tight quarters and the fact that you'd be stepping directly into a melee situation.
You can definitely attempt it, but the move would not be without risk.

Round 6
To the North
Ewell senses things are about to become more complicated.
Already engaged in battle with one of the troglodytes from the side passage, the young knight senses the impending arrival of what he only assume are more lair defenses coming from further north, and curses the lack of vision he has down the passageway to his back. He is quickly snapped back to his current situation, however, as the tip of a javelin whizes harmlessly past his face. The young knight makes the swamp beast that followed him north (3) pay, wounding it badly with a slash from his longsword.
The extra space created as Ewell's opponent follows the knight a shade to the north allows a second creature (6) to squeeze into the melee against Grimnail. Grim shattered the javelin of his original opponent last round so it switches to its natural weapons, which the barbarian is able to avoid without harm. The new opponent stabs at the half orc with its javelin but misses badly.
Grim lets loose a mighty roar as he brings down his curved blade on scaly skull, dropping the previously wounded and weaponless opponent (5). Kaltar steps into the void and, swings his trusty mace at the nearest troglodyte (6) with no avail, while Strom inches forward and continues to hope the affects of the stench wears off soon.
Stuck in the Middle
Shannigans passes Epsilon and continues his crawl down (or up?) the northern passage. He glances back and receives an assuring nod from the cleric, so continues to make his way, stopping behind Darrin, making sure the youngster was aware of his position, before passing.
To the South
Fimmion continues to be a beacon of light for those battling at the southern end of the passage, while trying to remain out of their way in the process. Gwillt and all the troglodytes carry out simultaneous acts, with O'rek acting last.
Gwillt attacks the trog to his right (3), drawing blood with with his scimitar, but not issuing a serious wound. It and the middle swamp beast (4) retalliate against the ranger, but neither are able to hit (one was really close, though). The newest beast (5) attempts to skewer O'rek with its spear and catches the cleric with an average blow (-4). O'rek staggering at the sting of the spear wound and the uncertain footing having just established his position over a dead troglodyte, swings wildly with his mace.

Re: 15. Hunting the Troglodytes
I believe the healing can wait
Kaltar steps into the gap and, if he can, swings his trusty mace... with no success:
Mace Action To Hit [1d20] = 4 Dam [1d6+1] = 2+1 = 3

Gwillt continues to try and strike down the trog he just wounded...
Initiative [1d10] = 10
To Hit, Scimitar [1d20+4] = 19+4 = 23
Damage, Scimitar (weakened state) [1d8+2] = 2+2 = 4
Initiative [1d10] = 10

Gwillt has been on fire lately. Too bad his damage rolls haven't been as impressive as his to-hit rolls.Alethan wrote:To Hit, Scimitar [1d20+4] = 19+4 = 23

Shanny inches past Derwood......er, Darrin. Calling out to Strom of his plans with the flask. ''Trying to get this to the front, to burn 'em."
No idea how the paladin will react to the statement and action, but should be interesting....

Re: 15. Hunting the Troglodytes
Ewell senses more coming from both sides. He swings, hoping to finish off the trog dancing with him.
longsword to hit (+3 str bonus): [1d20+3] = 1+3 = 4 , damage1d8 (+4 str bonus): [1d8+4 ] = 3+4 = 7
He misses, very, very badly.
2nd to hit
longsword to hit (+3 str bonus): [1d20+3] = 3+3 = 6 , damage1d8 (+4 str bonus): [1d8+4 ] = 4+4 = 8
and breakage...
breakage 1-50: [1d100] = 44
And with that, our knight might as well fall on his sword, cause he is running out of weapons, fast.

Re: 15. Hunting the Troglodytes
O'rek trips horribly again over a trog corpse and bashes his mash against the cave wall:
Mace attack [1d20+3] = 1+3 = 4 (THACO=20)
Crashing off of the wall fortunately doesn't shatter his trusty mace:
Mace attack [1d20+3] = 6+3 = 9 (THACO=20)
Healing anyone?

Re: 15. Hunting the Troglodytes
actually it appears you still need the 50/50 roll to determine breakage

Re: 15. Hunting the Troglodytes
[1d100] = 28
which of course is the BEST result
Thanks OM.
DM - Kindly let me know if you need a different roll.....

Re: 15. Hunting the Troglodytes
You can keep the percentage, but I will need a second roll to determine whether 1-50 or 51-100 meant breakage (and yes, I realize that amounts to requesting a re-roll).ravenn4544 wrote:[1d100] = 28

Let's do this going forward:
01-50 = break
51-00 = safe

Re: 15. Hunting the Troglodytes
Ewell might notice grim had several spears strapped to his back and 2 hand axes at hips. Under circumstances grim might not mind Ewell grabbing one
The half-orc dodges fragments from Ewells shattered blade and brings his own curved blade to bear on the other trog.
Scimitar [1d20+4] = 17+4 = 21 Thac0: 20 Damage:[1d10+3] = 3+3 = 6
