Chapter 5: Nameless Things
Re: Chapter 5: Nameless Things
Naruthirdor regains his balance and, slowly for fear of passing out, picks up the torch so it doesn't go out.
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Glasik Ironfoot
The dwarf stands up and collects himself, embarrassed by his reaction to the horror. Then he notices one last Uruk. He moves in for the kill.

On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Gilda Ironfoot
Gilly shakes off the fear gripping her heart when the black shadow is dispatched.
Seeing the Uruk brings her to her feet, albeit unsteady, and she grabs her pick and wades in...and realizes she should have stayed curled up in a fetal position.
Footman's Pick: [1d20] = 3 Damage: [2d4+1] = 4+1 = 5

Gilwennen cannot bring herself to attack an unmoving, insensate foe, yet if the uruk stir and move to attack she will aid in dispatching them:
Attack with Naringë - Long Sword +1 (THAC0:20): To Hit: [1d20+2] = 1+2 = 3 Damage vs. s/m: [1d8+1] = 3+1 = 4, vs. Lg: [1d12+1] = 4+1 = 5
...or at least wave her sword at them menacingly.

Re: Chapter 5: Nameless Things
Elbenarin is still weakened...
Long Sword Attack [1d20+1] = 1+1 = 2 (THACO=19)
OOC: that was some pretty stellar rolls for our side this round

Re: Chapter 5: Nameless Things
Vindoboduoc shirks his fear like a cloak, tightens his sweaty grip on his weapon and drives it at the uruk.

The Lost Halls of the First ElvenKing, The Mountains of Mirkwood, Rhovanion, Middle Earth
March 23, Year One of the Fourth Age
Day Five. Midday. Cloudy, damp, cold

The frightful veil of evil lifted, the Company feel their strength slowly returning. (Recover another 1hp) The horror and the dread are just a memory now.
Before they can act, the last Uruk bolts! But he comes within ax-length of Glasik the dwarf and is cut down without mercy.

Suddenly a half dozen Uruk-hai burst from the shadows to the west, bedecked in sacrificial gold!

Their faces filled with terror and madness, they give the Company a wide berth as they flee southward! The echoing iron shod footfalls recede into pitch blackness.
Naruthirdor raises his torch in the towering chamber whose furthest tapestried walls lie beyond the flickering light. Deep in the lost elf halls, the Company are surrounded by treasure, blood and darkness.

"Elbenwin, your sword." Rumil hands Elbenwin his sword and draws his own.
"I am not sure we are in the shape to pursue them, but they will bring others back."

Therone
Therone lights two torches. She carries one, and wedges the other in a crack on the altar. Then she heads North, staying about 6 feet from the East wall. Mostly, she's just exploring, trying to see how big this chamber is.

”By the look on their faces, I am not sure they will be returning. It may be best to let them go and spread more fear about entering this place,” Naruthirdor adds, sweeping his torch around to see as much of the room as possible.

Vindo lights his own torch, and wanders west 10' from the south wall, intending to pace out the limits of the chamber as well.

Fear is difficult to overcome, but that much gold can be a powerful motivator. We need to find this weapon as quickly as we can before their greed overcomes their terror.

Re: Chapter 5: Nameless Things
Elbenarin - examining the state of the group - questions his confidence in his ability to see this mission through. Every battle sees the group nearly eliminated. What further evil lies in wait of the group deeper in this elven tomb?
He shakes it off and reminds himself, "if not us, who? if not now, then when?"
"Friends, a difficult quest lies ahead of us, we endure. We must find a place to recover some strength however, or we may not have the ability to in the future"

Tinuwen joins Therone in exploring the chamber. She keeps Baudhring ready, with an arrow knocked.
How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?

We could always go back to the tomb we rested in before. That seems safer than pressing on- who knows what else lurks in these halls.

Re: Chapter 5: Nameless Things
Folco looks over the amassed treasure for anything other than coins or gems, wondering if any magic items lie in the mix.
"We could always set up a fun little trap for any greedy monsters who think they should return to this hoard."
The hobbit starts looking around for anything he might be able to rig up to fall on or trap any unsuspecting thieves who try stealing from the elves again, besides himself, of course.

Gilly gives her brother a punch to the arm as a way of saying, "Good job in taking down that Uruk!" and then lights a torch from her pack and begins to explore.
"What do ya think this here weapon be lookin' like? Be it one o' steel or some fancy thingy like a necklace or staff?"

Therone shakes her head as she proceeds. I doubt it. This pile of goods is bait for the Barrow-wight. Caution says we should examine it thoroughly, tho.
