Gardothirdkingdom wrote:She rummages through the pile of items, but in a precise, controlled manner. She knows where everything is, clearly. The first thing she holds up looks similar to a lantern, made of a strange, dull silvery metal. There's a handle on the back, and what looks to be three smaller hinged doors arranged along the curved face. "I do not know what this does, although it is intact. I cannot get the doors to open, though they are not rusted or damaged in anyway. This I will sell to you for 250 alcedes." The second item she holds up is a long knife, with a blade as long as Gardo's forearm. The blade is black and featureless, and seems to almost absorb light. "The residents of Isendan were experts at the art of crafting with this material," she says, "that we call leir. It is lighter and harder than metal, and cannot be broken, chipped, or worked by any craft of man. Perhaps Dwarves can work it, and perhaps dragonfire melt it, but as far as I know it is impervious. It will not rust, neither, and does not attract the attention of Mother Lodestone. I will sell you this knife for 500 alcedes." Finally, she pulls from her bag a flat rectangle, the size of Gardo's hand, but the thickness of the blade she just showed him. It is a burnt orange in color. "This," she says, "is a key, to a door in Isendan. What it opens I know not. I will sell this to you for 50 alcedes."
He looks at the items proffered to him, judging them. He starts touching his fingers together, similar to when one counts on them. After a moment, he looks up at the woman.
"That sounds reasonable. 900 alcedes then." He pauses for a moment to let that sink in. "Actually, I would like one more thing for that amount. What fascinates me the most right now on this rug... is you. I am being bold but I would like to also hear about you and your travels. Isendan to the north? I've never heard of it. You are definitely more travelled than I am. For the 900, I will take the items plus would love to hear about you and what you have seen. It is also getting towards the evening. Allow me to buy you a meal and drink, whatever you would like."
He turns to his companion. "Mariusz! Please get out the 900.... wait. Do we actually have that amount on us? You may need to go and fetch more coin for us to finish this purchase. Have the others sold those small items we found with the mummies and ghasts? Maybe that will be enough to cover. See if the others have enough to cover us or know where to get the coin. Hurry up! Let's not keep her waiting."
Turning back to the woman, he smiles. "I apologize that I do not have it all right now. I will give you at least the money for the lantern and key now and the rest later for the other items. Would that be an acceptable enough deal?" He holds out his hand to shake and seal the deal.
