The gnomes in Inferno's Horror at Briarsgate game keep speaking in gnomish in ways that continually make me chuckle. Either they speak one word and it means like three paragraphs of stuff, or a paragraph that means one word. Good times!
Subject: Chapter 20: Hungry Are The Dead
ChubbyPixie wrote:Picking himself up off the ground, Telkis gives Urdur a "what now?" look, then, glancing left and right, he grows suddenly decisive. "Fløøt!*" he whispers urgently, then scrambles to duck down an alley or narrow street to round at least two corners in an 's' curve as quickly as possible, heading in the general direction of the town hall and its cells.
*"Come! Come! It is vitally important that you do not tarry!"
SocraticLawyer wrote:"Breðafönn! says Urdur in agreement. He follows Telkis as they try to lose the wolf.
"Indeed, our survival depends upon our rapid flight from the vicinity of the dangerous wolf-man! Let us make haste!"
Bravo ChubbyPixie and SocraticLawyer, bravo!
SocraticLawyer wrote:"Veiðir fisk," says the gnome.
Translation: This is indeed a dire situation, friend, made all the more so by my need to pee.

Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.

Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Yup, Icelandic is punchy and fun (and of course means nothing of what the spoilers say here  ). As a Swede, it's intriguing to eavesdrop on our linguistic cousins: speakers of Icelandic. Terse staccato sentences that mean nothing and then wham! suddenly two words you understand completely - and then you've lost drift again.

Btw, as a coincidence, GW uses Norwegian as Orcish in our game - but that's much easier to understand

This is funny and cool stuff. Until you and GW started talking about it I thought he was just making stuff up for Orchish. I need to find one for Wookie so I don't keep using the same thing for everything.

The hill giant looks at the dwarf adventurer and says "Luktar ork här"

translated "Smells like orc in here"

They better be small giants if they are fitting in the basement of the place we just explored. :)

The current OOC discussion going on in Inferno's Sauron Victorious game:

Can't believe BOTH of the dwarves failed saving throws vs. poison!!
We only needed a freaking 9 to save! :x

It's a really good poison.

I seem to recall a story about 13 dwarves and a Hobbit where the dwarves didn't do so well against spider poison.

Scott308

That story doesn't seem very plausible. Anyone who would come up with such a ridiculous story clearly has no future as a writer.

Great moments when some 2hp algae nearly took out a TPK in Pirates. The Obliviax stole spells, confused everybody, put some to sleep, entangled others and using a Hypnotic Pattern with an indefinite duration nearly captured the whole team.

naughty but nice!

The drinking contest at the Briarbeard Tavern is one of my fondest Unseen Servant moments.

That was a lot of fun! Even though Dorvar didn't win the contest, he won the grand prize- immunity to alcohol poisoning, so the dwarf would never need to stop drinking!

I post this as a quote from Hvalreki, player in Barrowmaze.
Most RPG fun I've had in years. Thanks Spearmint and Bluetongue. This adventure reminds me of how I got into D&D in the first place all those years ago.
Honorable mention needs to go to the Unseen Servant Dice Roller for saving our collective behinds. First level idiots facing off with a Drow cleric and a Wight? I thought we were gonners for sure.
Wasn't involved in this expedition but certainly a lot of the players identify with the 'most fun' moments. A shout-out to great GM's on the site.

Some of my fondest memories on US as a DM are the beginning conversations when I kicked off my Greyhawk Adventures game back at the first of 2020. Chubby's dialogue, along with Monsieur Rose's sarcastic bite, made my ribs ache from laughing.
