06. Sleeping Dragon Inn
06. Sleeping Dragon Inn
Epsilon hastily exits the Inn, followed by the rest of the group, with Ewell cautiously backing out of the establishment, prepared to take necessary defensive measures. Thankfully, there is no need for bloodshed as the pursuers remain within the confines of the Inn.
The trail just outside the Bronze Goat runs north and south. The party turns south, the same direction Gwilt previous took, just far enough to provide some distance between themselves and the Inn. This southern trail quickly runs into a four-way intersection, with the store being down the fork to the left (east). Gwilt is already down this eastern path and is spotted heading back towards the party.
As Gwilt approaches the group, he slides the sack of arrows off his shoulder. He hands Alordan two dozen arrows and gives another dozen to Shannigans (please update your character sheets, if needed). "I didn't have the coin for much else. If you guys want more, he has plenty. Just don't let him charge you over 4 silver per dozen." He looks at Ewell and adds, "Sorry, no big sticks, kid."
"I was thinking of heading to the other inn to see how they react to people." Gwilt then says to the group at large. Considering the sparce breakfast provided at the Bronze Goat, this idea is warmly met. The Sleeping Dragon Inn is actually just past the Bronze Goat to the north. Since the temple, which Strom and the clerics are interested in visiting, is actually on the way, the entire party agrees to at least stop at the Sleeping Dragon Inn first, get a feel for it, then part ways.
Now, in the full light of day, the small village becomes more visible and many details not detected in the middle of the night are now obvious. The calm lake in the middle, with a still stream running out of each side of it, with the western branch passing just north of the Inn they stayed in last night. In fact, the Sleeping Dragon Inn is just north of this stream, over a simple bridge, with the temple being further north and then to the far east corner of the village. Regarding the map:
1) First, my apologies. I fear this will continue to be a shortcoming of the game. Taking the actual text and wrapping it in the 'code' style causes line wrapping issues, so I took a screen print of the entire map and am pasting it as an image file instead.
2) Forgive previously provided directional updates (e.g. east/west) as both the temple and the store are actually to the east; one is just north, the other south. If there is ever a question between past or future descriptions provided by me and the actual map, the map wins.
3) Since the terrain is mostly level, for the sake of simplicity, I have gone ahead and provided the entire map to you instead of issuing it in pieces. The buildings identified have been labeled, with an added label provided for the Sleeping Dragon Inn. The temple isn't labeled, but is the large, walled structure on the far northeast corner of town.
4) Unexplored buildings are marked with a '?' in the upper right-hand corner.
5) While not marked with an X, the group is currently at the four-way intersection south of the Bronze Goat Inn and north of the Tailer/Weaver.

Re: 05. Journey to O'Hare
anything stand out about the dagger epsilon got from the cook?
Re: 05. Journey to O'Hare
"Thanks for the arrows. I needed 'em."Shannigans fills the quiver and examines the remaining samples, checking them for length and trueness. "Yes the other inn should give us some information, even if it is only rumor. I'll go."
Sleeping Dragon Inn
The frustration is still evident as the group passes Bronze Goat Inn on its way north. With the offending inn behind them, you hope the ill will and odd behavior is a thing of the past as well.
The stream separating the north and south sides of this end of town is so narrow it could almost be jumped, but the bridge is conveniently placed in your path and is used regardless. Just off to the right is the Sleeping Dragon Inn. The group approaches with nervous anticipation.
This inn is a bit smaller and older than the Bronze Goat, but much warmer in appearance. Beds of inviting flowers brighten the front entrance on either side and a large, colorful sign pictures a gold dragon with its head resting contentedly on its paws. A plume of smoke rises from the magnificent beasts' nose past its closed eyes. Out on the front porch, a large middle-aged woman stops sweeping the porch and greets you with a friendly wave. "Welcome to the Sleeping Dragon," she says. "Please, c'mon in."
ooc: wolfpack, I will address the dagger once inside, or at the next logical resting spot if the group decides to pass on the inn.

Re: 05. Journey to O'Hare
Not wanting to get fooled by false doors, hidden hallways once again, the halfling walks along the outer edge of the 'road' and takes in as much of an eyeful of the exterior that he can. His attention soons turns to the 'L' shaped building directly south of the Dragon. He stops and does not approach.
Re: 05. Journey to O'Hare
Why thank you fine lady, may the blessings of Tothflow upon your head like a shower of torrential rain.
Epsilon says with a bow.

Re: 05. Journey to O'Hare
At the initial reluctance displayed by the halfling, the woman waves him on in. "No need to be shy, little one. We serve all kinds here." she says proudly. "You'se look like you could use a fine meal, and--" She leans her broom against the porch railing and bustles down the porch, crouching in front of Shannigans. "I'mma willin' to bet, wit' Sheela Peryroyl (halfling goddess of agriculture) as my witness, we have some of the finest breads, fruits, and cheese you'll have ever tasted, love." she says with a friendly wink. "Come. You'll see."
As the woman approaches, Shannigans makes a quick, cursory inspection of the exterior of the property. The property, while old, is well cared for and you'll notice the shutters around all windows are flung wide open. The woman notices the look given to the 'L'-shaped building. "That be our winery," she boasts. "Might be a wee bit early, but it'll be the best you've ever tasted... I swear." Her eyes fall to Garth. "Sure to impress even your elven friend, there."
This establishment, in every way, gives off the exact opposite vibe as the Bronze Goat Inn.

"Bloody 'ell..."Gwillt mutters as he steps forward to enter the inn, "why didn't ya bring us here last night, Alordan?" he asks over his shoulder.

"The storekeeper was nice enough. We can go back later and stock up on more, if need be. I figured I'd get what I could now, though, just in case...", Gwillt replies to the halfling.Stonjuz wrote:"Thanks for the arrows. "Well, ain't you the sweetest thing." she says. "You go on ahead inside," she starts, waving Epsilon past, "and you tell Jasper -- that's me husband -- that Ferrell -- that's me -- to fix you up somethin' special.

"Mind yer tongue, young man." she calmly says to Gwilt while scolding him with her eyes, but brushes it off. "Pleasin' tell me you'se didn't stay at the Goat last night." she says, shaking her head. "You'll find the accommodations here so much better."
"Now, don't just stand there... come! Come inside." she says proudly.

Re: 05. Journey to O'Hare
Shannigans puts hands to body to make sure he isnt dreaming. "Fair lady, I am at a loss. In ALL my travels(about 2 days worth) I don't think I have ever heard such a pleasant paragraph." He turns to Alordan's direction, "How could you have missed this place the first time, haha." The halfling giggles and then speeds up to the others, rather quickly, adding, "Cheese!" Still hurrying, he tries to be the first one through the door. Whether or not he is succesful at that isnt important, as those outside can hear him say, "....and their own wine!"
Re: 05. Journey to O'Hare
"Errr... Yes ma'am. Sorry," Gwillt replies at the admonishing greeting.
He makes sure to wipe his feet before entering the inn.

Sleeping Dragon Inn
Ferrell is delighted to see the halfling so eager to enter!
The main room to the inn is a short distance longer than it is wide. A bar extends from the front wall of the inn on the left side out about 15 feet, partially blocking a door leading into the longer, narrow section of the inn. There are three round tables, each with room to seat four, on the left side; a longer rectangular table currently holding five customers splitting the center of the room, and a single, square table in the far right corner near a rear exit. Each side of the inn holds a fireplace, but none are lit so early in the morning. Large, open windows abound.
Ferrell follows the last of the party into the inn and quickly notices the five regulars taking up the larger table. "Now you all go on and git!" she says, shooing them off to one of the smaller round tables. "Y'all can fit here just fine," she says as she begins moving their plates for them. "Must make room for our friendly newcomers, am I right?" she says. The five regulars squeeze into one of the round tables without complaint; one of them grumbling that they were planning to offer the table on their own, and that Ferrell spoiled his gesture. All bid the group a fine morning and extend warm greetings.
"You all make yourselves comfortable an I'll be right back." she says, hustling through the door behind the bar.

Re: Sleeping Dragon Inn
Strom smiles at the innkeeper as he enters the building
Thank you for your hospitality.
Once inside he keeps his demeanor cheerful as he sits at a table at appears to pray silently. He uses his ability to detect evil once again to verify the people around him.

Just to clarify, I assume you used this ability while Ferrell was also in the room (she temporarily left), but will not include anyone else in the Inn that you do not see or have knowledge of.dmw71 wrote:PM sent.
