Is there something else I'm missing?
In 5e, there is something called Two Weapon Fighting. It is available to all classes and not a feat or skill. Here is the description:

Two-Weapon Fighting
When you take the Attack action and attack with a light melee weapon that you're holding in one hand, you can use a bonus action to attack with a different light melee weapon that you're holding in the other hand. You don't add your ability modifier to the damage of the bonus attack, unless that modifier is negative.

If either weapon has the thrown property, you can throw the weapon, instead of making a melee attack with it.

I also found the two-weapon fighting style, which becomes available at 2nd-level.
yes, that allows me to add the damage modifier to the offhand attack. The generic Two Weapon Fighting skill does not allow the modifier to be added to the offhand attack.

Awesome, thanks!

It works with the 'Light' weapon property, and detailed here: Two-weapon fighting.

Oh, I get it.

With the normal rule you're using, there's this: "You don't add your ability modifier to the damage of the bonus attack, unless that modifier is negative."

The 'Two-weapon fighting' fighting style, available at 2nd-level, allows you to add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack.

Okay, cool. Thanks for pointing this rule out.

C'mon, where's your sense of adventure? ;)

You guys have already made great progress (you've overcome multiple traps, an extremely difficult lock, a riddle, an an imp, etc...) and, without any other doors in the current room, are seemingly at a dead end (potential pun intended).

You're in a room without an obvious threat, and with the promise of magic. You definitely should keep playing Kelben however you want, but I was half expecting him, with his personality trait and flaw being what they are, to be the one to suggest trying to recover the treasure inside the sarcophagus, not knowingly walk away without trying to get his hands on it.

Hey what can i say he doesn't like grave robbing or messing with the undead or living dead as they essentially are. Lets just say ghost stories scared him away from it as a young gnome. ;)

Thanks! I'll be sure to add your 'Light' spell in my next update -- which I'll work on now.

Hey, no worries. I'm just glad you were able to get your actions in before I moved onto round 2 and was forced to NPC him.

Speaking of round 2, can you declare your actions, movement, etc... for it, too?

I'm actually in the middle of a combat in my in-person game and probably won't be home until late.

Round 3 may be later tonight, but probably not until tomorrow.

By the way, Ed, I'm playing a rogue in the game I was in last night.

He was 2nd level going into last night and is a lot of fun! He used his sneak attack and 'cunning action' features heavily, and to great effect. Almost every turn in combat, he did one of the following combinations in some order: move, attack, disengage; or move, attack, dash.

For example, the group was fighting three ogres. My rogue was away from melee behind and tree and shooting arrows at select targets (more on this in a second). One of the ogres, ticked that I kept hitting him, used his movement and a dash action in order to engage me in melee.

This was no problem as I:

He would hit and move. Constantly.

As for choosing his target, he would always try to target whichever ogre was engaged in melee with someone else in the group. This allowed him to add his sneak attack damage, which was helpful. With a +3 Dexterity modifier and +2 Proficiency modifier, he has a +5 on his attack rolls, so he was hitting a lot! Now at 3rd level, his extra 'sneak attack' damage is now 2d6 instead of 1d6, so he's going to be that much more effective.

---

I still need to play a spell caster of some kind, though. I'm playing a fighter in one game, and a rogue in the other. Comparatively, I have very little experience with spells and how they work so that aspect of the game is still very much a weakness of mine. (Though, Sky and Klilxuac are helping with this.) :)

Nice work on the big bad guys.

Dave, I didn't see the rolls for the vicious mockery effect. I think the creature should have disadvantage if he fails the saving roll. Turned out ok, though. :D
I so wanted him to die by insult.

This was his saving throw against the effect:

Which he failed... and the damage he took actually brought him down to 0 hp. Auborn's hit was just gravy. ;)

I will include this in my next update, but Kelben is now stable, but remains unconscious until he receives some healing (most likely accomplished by taking a rest).

True. ;)

The nice thing is, unlike earlier editions, resting actually provides meaningful healing capabilities in 5e. Even a short rest, which is just an hour, Kelben is guaranteed to recover a minimum of 3 hit points (1d8 + 2), per the rule:
A character can spend one or more Hit Dice at the end of a short rest, up to the character’s maximum number of Hit Dice, which is equal to the character’s level. For each Hit Die spent in this way, the player rolls the die and adds the character’s Constitution modifier to it.

Forgot to say earlier. I'd be interested in another 5e game you may run. I'm sure I can come up with another interesting character.
