Korin waits to be able to exit the narrow tunnel.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Phoenix waggles his fingers and nods enthusiastically. A kaleidoscopic rainbow of brilliance at my fingertips indeed good elf. Ugh, spiders, why is there always a spider. I HATE spiders. There is bound to be one lurking above the opening, just so you know. Good luck with that!” he says genially, patting the new elf on the back as he prepares to move into the web room.
He will fish out one of his candles and light it off the torch still in their possession.

According to inventory, Ox has 3 unused torches and Korin 3. Thorelf is holding 1 lit torch. So no need to panic.....yet

The gnome’s eye light up. ”Let me See, let me see! Coming through, clear a space, moving on by!” Phoenix eagerly looks over the dwarfs shoulders to examine the script upon the parchment.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf says "Well, if there was a spider in the chamber it would have found us by now for sure", and smirks.
Thorelf, secretly more cautious after all the talking about spiders, goes down on his knees and tries to get a look on the roof inside the chamber just above the opening.
"Spider, come out and pla-ay."

Phoenix looks over Korin's crumpled scroll. Its edges are decorated with scorpions, spiders, ticks, mites and other creatures with 8 legs.
The magic runes are undecipherable to him. He is, however, perceptive enough to recognize that they ought to be legible to someone from another spell-casting profession...
Does Thorelf use the lit torch, when peering upwards into the chamber from his kneeling position ? Meaning: is he holding the torch inside the passage, or holding it out into the chamber.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
He is holding it out into the chamber, just enough to shed some light at the roof (but not have his hand chopped off by the spider’s fangs).

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
The gnome sticks out his tongue to the side of his mouth as he concentrates deeply, scanning the glyphs before sighing. ”Spiders! Ticks! Why is it always spiders. . . Here, oh holy one, you might be able to read it, it is beyond me, if you cannot it’s bound to be that common magic-user scribble.”

Norbold Ernessaeia (Sylvanian Elf Cleric): Scale Mail AC 6 : Hit Points 6 / 6:
Norbold says, "Huh, Holy One? Me? You want me to look at the scroll? It's probably cursed to poison the one that reads its anyways, that you mention spiders."

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
The gnome looks up at his associate incredulously. Or it offers the relief of such poisons, or control of such creatures, or even the movements of them perhaps. Maybe even the power to turn into one. Curses usually strike as soon as someone even tries to read the sigils, and as you can see I am fine. Don’t be such a wuss, and take a look!” Phoenix says, snatching the vellum and shoving it under the tall clerics snout.

Norbold says, "Ok, yea sure, but it could be one the curses a specific type of person too."
Norbold grabs the scroll, unrolls it, with his eyes closed, opens right eye slightly to have a peek.
And reads a title at the top of the parchment, "Speak with arachnids", he reads aloud to himself.
Norbold continues to read it farther down this time with both eyes open and upon the scroll.
"Yep, this will enable me to speak to a spider."

Phoenix puffs out his chest smugly. ”See! Now if only we could find leggy mceightlegs you could try it out and persuade it we are all riddled and should be left alone.”

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
"Talk? With a spider? I can't even talk to my nephew without getting into a fight. You should have been there, this one time the moron took all the parsnips in the storage, went to the stables, then he fetched th... wait what's that in the roof over there?!"
Paus.
"I think this might be the time for those elven arachnid speaking magic tricks."
Thorelf points up towards the roof corner at the other side of the chamber.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound

Side a roof 'ud be on tha outside an we're inside." the dwarf puts his pack back on and takes out another torch lighting it. "Sides I aint ne'er seen no spider me boot couldn't take care of." the dwarf continues to look around the cave ceiling torch in one hand broadsword in the other.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf glances up at Korin and makes a face. "Me, afraid? Nah, must be dialect, I'm from the coast, remember. Like, a ceiling is an inside roof anyway." Thorelf mumbles something incomprehensive. "Afraid....bah...mountain halls...caskets of mead.."
"Norbold, how's that chat with them spiders coming along?"
