Re: The Watering Hole (OOC)
Skill is a flat number that decreases as you level up. Roll over to succeed. Basically, Saving Throw rules. Classes may give you a +3 or so to certain applications. At first level, everyone's skill is 15.
We will also get two Background bits of information, with attendant mechanical bonuses. ybn1197 said he'd roll them for us, based on Mystara rather than the C&T Zarth setting.
I'm assuming the 3d6x100 starting gold was a mistake, but if it's not, my character will be dripping with scrolls!
Also, I want to say this: My character has a Charisma of 3. I'm kind of looking forward to playing someone that is the literal nadir of human likeability. I'm hopeful I can do this in a way that is fun, and not actually off-putting. But if I ever get too into character, please let me know.

Re: The Watering Hole (OOC)
Thanks again Pulpatoon. I'd guess our coin was meant to be 3d6 x10 not 100. So thats what I rolled for.
Starting Coin [3d6x10] = 11x10 = 110
Starting Coin [3d6x10] = 11x10 = 110

Re: The Watering Hole (OOC)
I noticed that I have boatloads of coin left from 3d6x100. If it turns out to be x10 as i expect it will, I will pare down my equipment list a bit.
Playing: At the Forest's Edge: Desmond Halfling Vagabond
The Northern Marches: Hengist Cleric of Baudh

Yeah, I only spent 140 gp instead of the 1400 gp 3d6x100 would have given me.DavetheLost wrote:I noticed that I have boatloads of coin left from 3d6x100. If it turns out to be x10 as i expect it will, I will pare down my equipment list a bit.
Maybe we can pool all that extra gp and buy a boat so we can sail to the Isle of Dread after we conquer The Lost City

- Starting gold is 3d6x10. I must have fat-fingered the 0 key.
- In order for me to provide your characters with their background bits, I need to know what country your character is a native of. This will grant the the first attribute bonus. A random d8 roll will determine the background bit and the second attribute bonus.

Charisma 4! No longer the absolutely most despicable person you've ever met! You still want to slap him, though. A lot.ybn1197 wrote:Virmel the Worm gains +1 Charisma as a native of Darokin.

The background sounds exactly right for Virmel.
If we're looking for good ways to spend extra gold, and if our company has been together long enough to invest in such things together, let me point out that Sorcerers can prepare scrolls for 200gp for a first level spell. After armor, this is probably the most bang you can get for your buck.
If others are interested, here's what I have to contribute to the cause:
80 gp
Spells: Hold Portal, Sleep, Charm Person
Having an extra charge of Sleep sounds like it could be very useful. But one of the other spellcasters might have something even better.

Well I think I am getting a lot closer to completed here. I think you needed a homeland for me I guess The Principalities of Glantri or would that just be called Glantri?

I'm doing pretty good. I need to sit down and really "finish" equipment (it's been a busy week), but otherwise I'm all set.
