Then Ciar waits at square 4 and attacks the rats if Kass is able to move to square 3.dmw71 wrote:Sorry, two characters, even small ones, cannot fight side-by-side in a 5-foot square.Alethan wrote:If he understands he can fight side-by-side with Kassal, he enters the hallway and attacks rats.

Re: XII. Flooded Quarry
"Kass, we've got our hands full in here! Retreat so us big guys can help you in here!" yells Sylvan as he tries to finish off the kobold he's facing. If successful he'll head to the entry way to help Kassel if he can retreat that far.
Re: XII. Flooded Quarry
Hearing the Gnome's cries, Grim wheels and heads to the entrance passage.
Re: XII. Flooded Quarry
Fulp attempts once again to finish off the kobold, this time with a little more focus and energy.

Re: XII. Flooded Quarry
Sparrow continues to smack and slash at the dogman in front of him, still finding the tight quarters to be a major hindrance to his form and power.
He attempts to swoon and swing at the same time.
How did you come to be in this mess, miss? Is there danger in here that we should know about other than these pesky dogmen and their pet vermin?

Re: XII. Flooded Quarry
Round 5
Sparrow continues to smack and slash at the dogman in front of him while attempting to question the frightened prisoner shackled immediately to his left, who's in too much shock to hold a conversation. A glancing blow from his club is enough to drop the already heavily wounded threat.
"Kass, we've got our hands full in here! Retreat so us big guys can help you!" Sylvan yells as he and Fulp look to dispatch of the last goblin slaver, which they do successfully.
The kobold threats eliminated, attention turns towards the hallway where Kassal finds himself facing another angry pack of giant rats. The slow moving gnome is only able to withdraw 10-feet and can't quite clear the entrance of the cave while fighting the menacing rodents off. He stabs at the rightmost rat attacking him with his dagger and manages to shave the whiskers off its face as he cuts the creature just below its eye. The rats continue to snip at the Kassal's feet, but the gnome dances out of harms way.
Ciar and Grim rush towards the entrance and wait for Kassal to clear so they can aid in his defense.

Rolls:
Initiative: Monsters [1d10] = 10, PCs [1d10] = 1

Re: XII. Flooded Quarry
Sparrow is happily surprised that he took out the kobold so easily. He continues the schmooze.
You are safe now miss. We will set you all free as soon as these other threats are dealt with.
The ranger moves to the wall (1) when he sees the gnome entering the room. After Kass is clear, he moves in (2) and attacks the swarm. (r2)

Re: XII. Flooded Quarry
Fulp will turn toward the rodents and prepares a swat of his stick if one accidentally gets near him.
He will to 18, and then either 10 or 9 depending on wherever anyone else happens to be. He doesnt want to block Sylvan's path toward the rats or Kassal's away from them.

Re: XII. Flooded Quarry
Kassal continues to retreat backwards into the chamber, slashing at the rats as he comes, hopefully drawing them into a pincer movement ambush.
[1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12 : [1d4] = 3
"I am bleeding quite heavily here!" he cries as he retreats

Re: XII. Flooded Quarry
Sylvan runs over to one of the slaves and smiles at him/her. "Trust me, friend, we will get you out of here. We just need to get rid of the rats first. How did your captors deal with them? They seem to appear often." Come on, charisma!
He will try in other languages he knows if the captives don't speak common. If he has time this round he will run over to the gnome to attend to his injuries with the wand after speaking to the slave.

Re: XII. Flooded Quarry
Round 6
Ciar and Grim assemble to the south of the tunnel, while Sparrow waits to the north; all of them leaving an opening for Kassal to retreat into the cavern where they can take over... only, he never makes it to the cave. The rats, attacking quickly, overcome the gnome and leave him lying motionless and bleeding on the hard, stone floor. Unaware of the rest of the party members lying in wait inside the cave a short distance away, they climb atop the illusionist, preparing to feast!
When those waiting inside hear what sounds like the companion tumble, Ciar and Sparrow peer around the corner and witness the scene. The dark skinned warrior quickly rushes inside and swats at the rats with his club, hoping to shoe them away, or at least divert their attention from their fallen companion.
Deeper inside the cave, Sylvan runs over and stands between the two nearest slaves -- one male, one female. "Trust me, friends, we will get you out of here," he starts. "We just need to get rid of the rats first. How did your captors deal with them?" he asks, calmly, which begins to sooth the frightened pair, but not enough to get them to respond yet.

Sylvan, hearing the commotion around him, rushes over to Kassel. He will apply the wand if he detects any signs of life.

Until the group has had a chance to examine the condition of Kassel, his status remains uncertain.

Re: XII. Flooded Quarry
Sparrow grabs the gnomes body, preferably somewhere near to where he just swatted the rats away, and begins to pull him into the chamber (Sparrow to 18 and Kassel to 10) so the others can get their swings in on the deadly vermin.
Seeing the lifeless body of Kassel infuriates the ranger and he swings away at the rats with the others, time permitting of course.
