Zamora

#1 Post by Rhourk »

Zamora is a Kingdom of the Hyborian age. Located on the eastern edge of the old Acheron empire. During the Hyborian invasion and the rise of the young kindoms, Zamora was pressured heavily by their western neighbors Corinthia and Brythunia. Treaties with the mighty Turanian empire to the east saved Zamora from subjugation.

The capitol province and city of Zamora, both named Shadizar lie on the Road of Kings, the principle trade route of the Hyborian world. This generates immense wealth for the Kingdom.

King Mithradites rules Zamora. The kingdom was open to worship of many gods but recently the king has declared his worship to the SPider God Zath and made this the official religion of the kingdom. Many priest were driven from the kindom outright, such as the peaceful healers of the goddess Asura, and the pious order of Ishtar. The priesthood of Bel is still allowed to worship, as to note earn the enmity of Zamora's mighty thieves guild. The priesthood of Nergal is assumed to still operate in the kingdom, but they are ever secretive and most don't survive contact with them anyway.

The kingdom boasts a population of over 3 million, with about 400,000 living in the capitol, making it one of the largest cities of the lands, certainly the west.

OOC: Do we have understanding of the geography around us? Well we have access to maps? (and no, I don't expect a map of a 400,000 person city!)

Will we have a idea of scale, especially where we are from compared to the main city?
