X. The Witch Tower - Fourth Trip
X. The Witch Tower - Fourth Trip
The group returns to the tower four its fourth visit, electing to wait until the following day to explore the quarry pursue the kobolds.
Following their familiar path, the group is able to safely return to the scene of the collapse, with Hunclay's body and the two crushed kobolds. There is a passage to the north, which Sparrow previously glanced down and didn't see anything except further tunnel.
If I've jumped too far ahead, we can rewind a bit and play out whatever you'd like. Otherwise, what is the new plan?

"Well...", Ciar begins, speaking quietly, "let's see what we've got."
He moves into the tunnel.

Ciar, not wasting any time in the chamber where Hunclay and the kobold pair met their demise under falling rock, sets out to lead the group through the tunnel to the north. After a short distance, the tunnel angles slightly northeast for about 40-feet, until it opens into an empty, roughly 30-foot square clearing. There are two passage exiting this open area -- one leading northwest, the other southwest.

Ciar waits for the others. While he does, he checks the ground to see if he can discern any information from any tracks on the ground.

Re: X. The Witch Tower - Fourth Trip
Sylvan sidles up to Ciar, and waits for the others if they're not there already. He whispers "Seems we didn't look over that wizard too closely. Perhaps we should on the way out. Make sure we 're not leaving any goodies behind."
He looks at Ciar, and continuing his hushed voice speaks. "Where to now, scout?"

"I already checked his person upon our last visit." says the gnome as he enters, waiting at the entrance of the clearing whilst the others search, guarding the retreat.

Sparrow also looks for tracks on the ground, smirking a bit at the halfling.
If we don't find 9 chests this time, perhaps we should uncover the body completely and bring it back with us? Seems like the right thing to do.

Fulp scans the room, looking for where a straggling kobald or worse may enter to attack.

"I agree. Perhaps the town clergy has magic that can speak with the Wizards spirit and find out just what has occurred here." Kassal reiterates.

Ciar whispers, "Kass and I both checked the body over and didn't find nothin but the keys."
He points to the left and quietly heads into the southwest passage.

Re: X. The Witch Tower - Fourth Trip
Ciar quietly begins to lead the group down the southwest passage, and can't help but notice the clinking of the chainmail armor worn by their new companion lightly echoing through the tunnel as they move. This passage heads southwest for about 40-feet before angling back northwest for an equal distance. Once reaching the end of this northwest turn, the passage turns due south. The halfling pauses at this point, waiting for the group behind him to catch up and settle into position. Once everyone is in place, Ciar peers around the corner and quickly pulls back, quietly relaying his findings.
Down this southern turn appears to be a roughly dug out, 30-foot-by-40-foot cave. Inside the cave, a trio of kobolds, obviously aware of the presence of the group, are readying weapons.

"Let us try missile fire before we charge in to combat for a change, what say you all?" says the gnome drawing two daggers and getting into position. He will throw them at the nearest kobold as soon as he is able

Without much in the way of missile weapons, Sylvan gets in the second rank. Once the attack has begun, he calls to his allies "Get behind me if they charge. I'll set my spear and skewer one of these bastards."
Sylvan sets his spear.

Sparrow draws out his bow and sends a pair of arrows at one of the pests.

Fulp thinks back to his request for more missile flyers earlier in the day, knowing he cannot help the group at the moment.

If possible, Ciar fires off a sling bullet at the nearest kobold before the creatures can advance.
Then he draws his sword and prepares for melee.

Grim switches his battle axe to his left hand and pulls a throwing axe from his belt. He stands ready to throw if a threat emerges.

Re: X. The Witch Tower - Fourth Trip
Two of the kobolds race forward and disappear from view, presumably hiding on either side of the entrance to the cavern. The third begins to pull back the drawstring on a shortbow.
"Let us try missile fire before we charge in to combat for a change," Kassal says, drawing two daggers and, once the bow-bold presents itself as target, the gnome lets his blades fly. The first sails wide, clanking hard against the stone wall forming the back of the cavern but the second finds its mark, striking the ranged attacker.
Grim quickly switches his battle axe to his left hand and pulls a throwing axe from his belt. Jumping quickly to stand behind Kassal, he hurls his axe at the already wounded kobold, dropping it with a solid thunk.
Ciar and Sparrow, whom would have had difficult shots with the poor angle, save their attacks once they witness the only visible threat drop, while Sylvan and Fulp bide their time in the rear ranks. Actions?
Rolls:
Initiative: Monsters [1d10] = 4, PCs [1d10] = 6

Re: X. The Witch Tower - Fourth Trip
Kassal will switch places with the dwarf if it's his intent to move forwards and engage the little buggers in melee. He will flatten himself against the wall so the others can get by and once there is a space retreat to Ciars position. He will offer to hold the lantern to help the others in combat.
