01. Campaign Background
Expect this to be a "realistic" fantasy game where mundane details such as ammunition, food, and light sources (both duration and length of illumination) will be carefully monitored. Carrying capacities and encumbrance will also be enforced to an extent. Noise is made, especially by those wearing metal armor (and don't think the nearby monsters don't appreciate the advanced notice). Economics will also play a role. The value of a gold piece may vary significantly as you travel to different destinations. Not every single suit of plate mail crafted will cost exactly 400 gold pieces. If a character isn't careful and doesn't question their new environment, they can easily be taken advantage of.
In general, this will be a low magic campaign. Magic exists, but it is relatively rare... and very valuable. Spell casters are in play and do exist, but many people view them with a certain amount of skepticism. This rare ability oftentimes leaves even novice mages feared (or idolized), and most treat users of magic with a high level of respect. However, it will be more challenging to obtain new magical spells as suitable teachers are indeed rare.
Gems and jewels are not always found in a chest or sack, but will often be found (or will they?) set in other items or carefully hidden. The values of these items are never just known. Guesses can be made, but a small, rough gem with an actual value of 10,000 gold piece could very easily be mistaken for a near worthless stone by an untrained eye.
Just as in real life, all monsters encountered will form immediate reaction upon meeting the party. These monsters will all be played up (or down) to their intelligence. If the treasure for a particular encounter includes a magical item that would be usable by them, don't expect for that item to be found in a chest... instead, expect for that item to be used against the party during the conflict.

02. Adventure Opportunities
Characters will learn of potential adventure opportunities in a variety of ways, including things such as job postings or overheard rumors.
Note: It is worth reiterating the fact that non-human characters will occasionally find themselves facing potential in-game obstacles which include general mistrust and fewer job opportunities.
