You've all officially been added to the public forum here, and can begin to... well, begin session 0 stuff. Feel free to begin discussing character concepts, party strategies, etc...
I know a few of you already have characters started, which is great. I didn't have any character generation rules in place (until just now: Character Generation), but don't panic if you're not in 100% adherence to my requests. For options that can easily be flipped to my preferences, and won't be too disruptive to your builds, please go ahead and make those changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask here or in your private forum.
Also, please make sure you add your character sheet to the campaign I've set up on the D&D Beyond website; the invite link should be posted in your private forum. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.
When you feel your character is ready, just let me know and I'll go in and take a peek.
I'm hoping to be ready to kick this off soon, or as soon as all the characters are ready.

Hello everyone, I am playing a ....
... Tiefling Warlock named Schillachi.
My first foray into the Beyond website so might be behind on some stuff and miss bits, much easier on tabletop. Playing him as a hunter of relics and antiquities with a penchant for cuddly wenches and fine ale.

My human cleric should be ready to go, dmw71. I settled for Lathander as his diety. New beginnings and such, made sense to me.
*waves hello to everyone* Greetings! I'm going to be that country bumpkin folk hero who happens to be able to channel miracles from time to time. Thalian Goldehart, a pleasure to meet you all.

Feel free to test any questionable food recipes on Thalian. He will be your willing guinea pig

Okay. As another 'folk hero' guess it is easier back story if we all came from same place. Did we save the village some way and now, after graduating from our various disciplines and classes we are off adventuring in the city?

Two folk heroes? Interesting. Truth be told, I'm new to the Beyond website as well, and was not able to find a way to view other character backstories, just my own character's.
I wouldn't be opposed to saying that our characters came from the same place. If my character also saved a village in the process and is now off adventuring in the city, that would be news to me. I would have to look up what a Tiefling is since I haven't had the opportunity to play with one or see someone else play as one. I have no idea what kind of race they are *laughs*.

I was going to play Anri as a wilderness rogue, disappearing for days at a time to gather particularly edible mushrooms and hunt fine game for her culinary experiments. She's a paid member of a Cooking Guild, so perhaps our village is home to a respected member she learned from, or maybe there's a guild office out where we are for whatever reason. I also changed her deity to Lathander, despite not being overly pious, so maybe that's something we'll have in common too.

It's here, under Description.

Unfortunately, the image above is all I can see from my end. Description and Notes seem to be cut out. The same may be the case for others looking at Thalian's sheet.
Until there is a proper place made for such things, here is my character's backstory. I tried keeping it short and simple, but know that it is open to editing to accommodate other player's backstories if the want is there. The main reason it took the spin it did was to make it fit with the flaw I chose using the Folk Hero template. The other choices seemed to not fit what I had in mind for my character.
Thalian was gifted at an early age with great strength and was quickly put to the fields and smithy to help his small agricultural community. He got along well with others and always had a strong sense of justice, never afraid to help those in need. Truly, one could say that he had a heart of gold.
The lord of his land feared him though, for what he was capable of becoming. A beacon of hope, someone that could disrupt his iron-fisted control of the lands under his name, bring justice to his corrupt ways of doing things. When the young man developed the ability to channel strange magics upon the turning of his adulthood, that was the final straw.
'He wields miracles and seeks to take away the fear within my subjects, a fear I have worked so hard to instill. He is dangerous to my rule and must be put down!'
His home town shielded him from the corrupt Lord's sights and hid him away, no longer thinking him safe in these lands. Because he was such a fine young lad though and always put everyone before himself, they did him an act of kindness and prepared him for a life outside of the farming community. With armor and weapon, he could now fend for himself and use those tools to help others, just like he did for them countless times before.
'Make us proud, boy! Keep that golden heart of your's untarnished and you will go far.'
Promising not to disappoint them, he sets out on his own journey.

Luawn's backstory
His Background is Soldier. I can switch things around to make it fit with others better if we want.
Backstory
Luawn grew up in a small rural community. At age 16 recruiters for a mercenary company came through and Luawn signed up so the sign on bonus would help his struggling parents and siblings make ends meet. Luawn did well and served his 6 years before leaving the company, ready to put his new skills to use.

I've only been able to take a quick look at all the characters, but everyone seems to be in order. Looking forward to getting this game kicked off!
As for character backstories...
I haven't quite decided where I'm going to start you. Well, geographically I know... just not where in the story. From a geography standpoint, ideally you will all be from the same small town, Fieldstone. It has a population of around 750 people, with the following racial breakdown:
human 93%
halfling 3%
half-orc 2%
elf 1%
half-elf 1%
The party consists of two humans, a halfling, an elf, and a tiefling. The later will be the trickiest to defend or assimilate, but they're there for whatever the reason. Or is possibly a newcomer?
From my recruitment post:
What to Expect wrote:
Brand new, 1st-level characters.
All kids, on the verge of reaching the age of adulthood (for your race).
You've all grown up in the same town (exceptions possible).
The group will be tasked with a quest... expect it to be kind of dungeon crawly.
So, for your race, you're on the verge of reaching the age of adulthood -- your task, once the story is revealed, can almost be thought of as a right-of-passage of sorts.
I'm still torn on how I want to break the game in, so I'll throw this out for your feedback:
Without divulging specific details, your hometown has an annual tradition which involves a simple journey to complete a task. Normally, the town mayor and a group of dignitaries perform this quest, but every few years, a handful of younger townsfolk are given the honor.
This year, the five of you have been chosen to undertake the prestigious ritual.
The morning the selected individuals are scheduled to depart, the townsfolk host a celebration in their honor to wish them luck. There's another celebration when the adventurers return.
Here's the question:
Do you want to begin the game that morning, before you've left, where you have a chance to role-play in town and ask questions for a bit, or would you rather this send off celebration be summarized as part of the game introduction and the game starts while you're already en route to your destination?
I'm leaning one way, and will probably go with my preference if there isn't a strong consensus one way or the other, but this is your game.
What do you guys think?

I see the odds were not in our favor. With that said Feylynne, Charalaton Wood-Elf Rogue is very excited to adventure and be out of this town.

I changed his background, story and age to fit better. Now has Outlander for his background. For starting I am fine either way.
Backstory
Luawn grew up in the village of Fieldstone, the youngest son of the trapper. He has been training with the local guardsman and his father and is ready to move out on his own.
