Big Shiny Island
Hexes are one mile across. Trails, terrain, and other landmarks will be added as they are discovered. Parties will only move as fast as their slowest members.
Movement rates will vary while traveling in different terrain:
Trails: (dark brown) Can be traveled at normal speed.
Sand: (tan) Can be traversed at 1/2 normal speed. (one exception is the path from Beachtown (east) to the river which is well trampled and packed down, allowing normal movement)
Jungle: (dark green) Hacking through untamed jungle will be done at 1/4 normal movement rates.
Jungle Trails: (thin black lines) Trails through the bush can be traveled on foot at 1/2 normal movement rate. However, once a trail hasn't been used for a while, it will quickly become overgrown and entangled again, restricting movement back down to 1/4 and requiring chopping of vines and branches to clear the path again.
......
As you may have already figured out, traveling around on this vast island will take a LOT of time. (untill you find alternatives to walking, of course) At a move of 6", it will take roughly one hour to travel one hex. Walking to the end of the mapped loggers trail will take 5 hours for the average party. Coming back will be another 5 hours etc. Please keep travel time in mind when planning future trips out of town.
