Gandrel successfully makes it to Karl inside the tower as the spider whirls around to face Ausus. Gandrel drags the body of Karl out of the room and around the corner to lean him up against the wall. Cole rushes toward the monster's backside which is now blocking the entryway to the tower. Raising his longsword above his head he prepares to strike. The warrior wildly misses slamming his blade into the side wall.

Castian you are on the clock along with the spider.

Cole rushes toward the monster's backside which is now blocking the entryway to the tower. Raising his longsword above his head he prepares to strike. The warrior wildly misses slamming his blade into the side wall.

Castien fears this spider may be the end of the group if it isn't dealt with quickly. Against his better judgement, he prepares himself to attack it. "Your staff has some length... you won't have to get that close to it." he reminds himself in an attempt to calm his nerves.

ooc: I understand that the positioning of Cole and the spider may make an attack impossible, but Castien's preferred action this round would be an attempt to stab at or poke at the spider with his quarterstaff.
He watches the movement of the terrifying beast before him. "I hate spiders" he says to himself. He inches closer to the spider; close enough where his staff might reach it. He takes a series of quick, deep breathes and jabs.

To hit with quarterstaff [1d20] = 18
Damage with quarterstaff [1d6] = 3

ooc: If Cole is blocking what Castien is attempting to accomplish, he'll resort to Plan B.
Castien is moments too late. Cole, combat instincts surely aided with the many years of training, acts first and completely blocks off the spot Castien planned to occupy. "Where's Karl?" he wonders aloud before noticing Gandrel dragging his limp body from the tower. Without thinking, and without considering how useless his efforts will most likely be, Castien attempts to provide assistance to Gandrel in stabilizing Karl.

It will have to be Plan B as Cole is in the entryway. Castien looks to the right of the entryway and assists Gandrel in stabilizing Karl.

Karl will no longer lose HP's every round and remains slightly breathing at -4 HP's.

The spider meanwhile rears back and attempts to bite Ausus high. Ducking in time, the creature misses and prepares for any retaliation from the warrior.

ooc: Drats! It's what I expected, but the fact that Castien would have actually hit makes it sting a little bit.

Even though he is slightly disoriented from his close call with death, Quoros doesn't fail to notice the two elves attending Karl outside the tower entrance.

His eyes quickly flick to the ground, looking for his mace. Not seeing it (assuming he dropped it in the tower and it was left there when he was dragged out), he grabs his bronzewood club and rushes over to Karl's aid.

He places his hand over the wound caused by the spider, closes his eyes, and clears his mind. After a moment, he calls out to St. Cuthbert to heal Karl's wounds.

"Hail, St. Cuthbert, God of might and right. Charge my hand with your holy energies, that it may restore health to this elven warrior, bringer of righteousness and justice."

Cure Light Wounds [1d8] = 4

Ducking quickly under the spider's vicious assault, Ausus drops his elbow, lowering the tip of his blade nearly to the floor. Then, as he rises, he puts the strength of his legs and back into an arcing, upward swing, attempting to cleave into the creature in a broad stroke.
