VAULT 14
-
NPCs
- Dr. Sybil Munro – Vault Overseer [age: 60ish]
…or Vault Overlord. Dr. Munro has been ruling Vault 14 for almost 20 years. Some people vaguely remember Conrad Lorca, the previous Overlord, but for the younger generation Dr. Munro is a constant, timeless being. Life conditions at Vault 14 are quite good, with sufficient food rations and entertainment discs, but Dr. Munro enforces curfew and never-ever provides anything extra.
She is a scientist with an in-depth knowledge of Vault-Tec™ gizmos. She doesn't generally tinker with anything in Vault 14, leaving that to Rokossovksy and his minions, but in questions of hi-tech machinery, she's the one to turn to.
-
- "Doc" Barnes – Head Physician [age: 55]
(Father of Quincy Barnes)
(Boss to Victoria James, nurse)
A Vault Physician is a maintenance person of sorts: he has to make sure everybody in the Vault functions on a "normal" level. Underground life takes a heavy toll of the Vault Dwellers, and "Doc" Barnes has to constantly monitor everybody's physical & mental health. He administers the various vitamins and additives given out with food rations. Of course, there are some mishaps and accidents too, but they are relatively rare.
-
- Alex "Rocky" Rokossovksy – Head Mechanic [age: 40ish]
(Father of Max Rokossovsky)
(Boss to Lawrence [at the Mechanic division] and to Zack [Garbage Disposal])
Alex "Rocky" Rokossovksy is not a tech genius, but he is good at organizing people who are better at dealing with machines than him.
-
- William Gross – Security Overseer [age: 49]
(Boss to Max Rokossovsky)
Frankly, of all the Vault officials, William Gross has the least amount of work. Perimeter checks at Vault 14 are usually quite easy: go and see the massive vault door, make sure it’s sealed (of course it is… Only Dr. Munro has the power and authority to open it), check the locks on the storage facilities. Sometimes break up a fight between overheated Vault Dwellers. William Gross himself is not much of a fighter, but he gives solid training to his small crew. He admits, though, that most skills he teaches would be useless in a radioactive wilderness.
-
- Linda McKinney – Entertainment Division Overseer [age: 46]
(Mother to Victoria)
If we are to judge from cultural output, the world really ended when the bombs struck. Vault libraries and entertainment resources are limited to a selection of old-time classics ad some pretty random additions. Most Vault Dwellers go through the whole repository of books, films, radio programs & music in about 15 years. After that – it’s endless repeats and re-runs. Linda McKinney is trying hard to change this, but her own creative writing efforts are not very successful so far.
-
- Roman Holka – Cafeteria technician [age: 30]
When he is not adding water to instant jelly powders, he runs what is basically the Vault black market. For most people that means getting quality pre-war food cans and chocolate bars.
