On the Rift Floor (G2 Part 4 - Arqos, Krom, and Hollis Only)

Arqos gave priority to protecting the others, not that he seems to have been able to. Drinking the potion helps him stay alive a bit longer to do that. He can't drink a potion and move?

Also, as to no saving throw: GFY, Gygax.

The party manages to move well before the monster threatening them, trudging another 30' west. They are now huddled against the south edge of the largest hillock, more or less in the center of the Rift. The snow-white aberration fades out of sight. It is unclear whether it is pursuing the party or not.

Arqos downs the healing potion and (if he still wishes) the potion of super-heroism.

Arqos - recover 13 HP; pls confirm that you want to consume the other potion.

Krom, barely clothed with his armor destroyed, begins to freeze to death in the brutal, almost preternatural cold.

Krom: 2 damage

The heroes catch their breath and listen and watch. They see nothing but curtains of swirling snow and the hillock against which they stand. They hear only the wind at first, but then a deep, threatening howl rises above the noise. Navigation is going to be difficult, even over a short, straight walk.

It seems predators stalk the Rift, as well as the scavengers the adventurers have already seen.


HP:
Arqos: 30/91 (-13)!
Hollis: 14/52!
Krom: 10/46!!

Equipment damage:
Krom: crossbow useless; armor destroyed.
Arqos: armor damaged

Krom pulling his cloak around him more tries to run on and not die a dwarfcicle.

Once he judges they are in a relatively safe place for a temporary pause:

To Krom:

"Hey my friend let me make some small difference to your grevious wounds."

Cure Serious Wounds on the Dwarf:

Cure Serious Wounds [2d8+1] = 3+1 = 4

Then Cure Light Wounds on himself:

Cure Light Wounds [1d8] = 1

Well I think those rolls pretty much sums up how its going for us at the moment!

Does Hollis still have his protection from cold spell?

I was thinking Hollis could cast Protection from Cold on Krom to stop him freezing to death. Krom is probably going to lose more HP until he's protected from the cold somehow (or dies).

When he is able to, assuming no further threats appear, Hollis grasps his holy symbol and intones the words to Protection from Cold for Krom.

Krom "Thank yah kindly lad. I was hopin' we'd get outta here afore I froze ta death."

Arqos says a prayer. "O LORD of LIGHT, guide us from this place. Let your light be a beacon to the lost. Take us away from the cold, dark, and terrible."

He pauses a minute as he tries to detect whether anything evil lies to the west. If he senses nothing, he will lead the way west along the edge of the hillock.

We'll hold off on the potion of super-heroism for now.
