7. There Has to Be a Morning After

Date: Nouluna 6, 1221
Time: 2:35 AM
Weather: Light rain
Moon: Waning gibbous
Location: Castle Ravenloft, Treasure Vault
**************************************

You decide to move on from the treasure room and take the fight to Strahd, if you can find him.

Castran, Bragar, and Robert take as much of the treasure as they can carry. They shovel the platinum and some of the gold into Robert's Bag of Holding. Castran takes the jewels.

You head back to the secret door behind the room beyond the fireplace. Castran feels the wall for a fire, but the fireplace is a room away. Bragar looks for a lever or mechanism to open the secret door. He finds no way to open the door from this side.
The gold and platinum coins are 10/lb. Silver coins are 50/lb., and the copper coins are 200/lb. That means you can get 1,055 pp and 9,845 gp in the Bag of Holding. Please add this to Robert's and Castran's sheets. If Bragar wants to gather some of the other treasure, please tell me how much.

Recall that there was a secret room behind the fireplace; that room had another secret door. You now stand beyond that second secret door.

To simplify bookkeeping, let's just say you did enough fighting with the scimitar and maces to know how good they are. In terms of game mechanics, each of the two maces you have used so far is +3. The scimitar is +2.

Iluq or Melampus could use the remaining mace if either wanted to.

Status: Agrippo: 32/52, Tibbius: 8/9, Iluq: 13/34, Tumbler: 24/39, Robert: 16/34; Fendt: 14/15; Castran: 13/23; Melampus: 16/21; Bragar: 31/42
Effects: None

Tumbler dumps the crossbow quiver and bolts in the treasure room. The contraption was a total wast of time in his opinion. He also takes a good look at the pile of treasure before him before speaking to Castran "Pass over a few of those jewels. One person shouldn't carry them all in case something bad happens.." He then will also grab a handful of platinum coins before heading along.

Tib shakes his head at the treasure mongers and casts his Knock spell on the closed secret door.

seeing the gems being banded around Agrippo 'coughs', looks stern and grim but says nothing, just holding out a big greasy palm...

If you want to split the gems, decide who gets which gems and add them to your sheets.

Just to make this all formal-like, forget what I said about who took what. Please tell me in your posts for this turn what treasure you take with you, including treasure stashed in the Bag of Holding, and add it to your sheet. As a reminder, here's what's available:

51,220 cp (200/lb), 24,105 sp (50/lb), 16,383 gp (10/lb), and 1,055 pp (10/lb)
One unclaimed magic mace - currently held by Tumbler
25 gems, consisting of the following:
  • Coral (130)
  • Garnet (110)
  • A pink pearl (120) and two white pearls, one of which is quite large (120, 200) - Tumbler
  • Two pieces of amber (100 ea.)
  • Golden yellow topaz (100)
  • Chrysoberyl (100)
  • An exceptional Periodot (1400) - Bragar
  • Alexandrite (dark green) (100)
  • A huge specimen of spinel (very deep blue) (1000) - Agrippo
  • Two amethysts, one quite large (500, 100)
  • Jet (200) - Agrippo
  • Star ruby (1000) - Bragar
  • Two fire opals (1000 ea.) - Bragar
  • Three opals (1000 ea.) - Tumbler
  • An emerald of mediocre quality (600) - Castran
  • Sapphire (1000) - Tumbler
  • Star sapphire (1000) - Castran
  • A rare black sapphire (5000) - Tibbius
The "if it's not listed, you don't have it" rule will be strictly applied to treasure.

Thanks.

ETA: Updating to show who has claimed what gem

Bragar- will take the Periodot and 2 fire opals and handful of platinum and silver. I may know a few mages that will like these fire opals.

How big are Bragar's hands?

We'll call "a handful" 5 platinum and 25 silver. Please record it on your sheet. If you want more, please give me a number.

Castran will take the star sapphire and the mediocre emerald. And any other unclaimed gems at the end and 50 pp and 25 GP

sorry I thought it was the fireplace secret door that wasn't openable from this side not the second secret doorway.

If Tib has knocked it open and it doesn't open Castran will cast Wraithform and seep through the cracks in the door. Otherwise he will move through the knocked doorway without casting it and check the fireplace wall for signs of heat and listen to see if he can hear anything moving beyond.

Tumbler takes:

A pink pearl (120) and two white pearls, one of which is quite large (120, 200)
Three opals (1000 ea.)
Sapphire (1000)
And 25 platinum.

He also leaves his war hammer as he is left holding the mace instead.

Unfortunately, the mace is too large for Tumbler to use.

Then he will drop the mace as well.

His dagger will serve him well enough. and he is tired of missing everything he has been swinging at anyway.

On second thought, screw that. If a thief can use a long sword or broad sword, there's no game balance reason why he can't use a mace. It's basically a club with a big knob on the end.

On the other hand, there might be weapon proficiency issues.

"hmmm like playing random snooker with gems, must go for a rainbow set, I'll have something white, red, yellow, green. brown. blue, pink and jet black."Greedy grasping hands go forward and then Agrippo claps in laughter, "only joking guys I'll take the piece of spinel, very nice and blue just like Sophira's eyes, oh and the jet...eyes of Illukira, drow black and very alluring and the ruby, not for me we'll put it towards Vorkaths memorial in stone, bless his holy head", Agrippo goes off to a corner to admire his pieces in the dimlight. Pocketting them in a pocket beneath his breastplate he will return to guard duty.
