Isaac C. Heinlein, explorer
Ike waits in the rover with the others, for the men in the distance to stop their search.
"Doesn't seem like they're stopping anytime soon," Ike says. "Should we move on?"

Re: Trieste: Vacationing in the Poisoned Air
Sorry bout the delays. No excuse, just bad prioritizing.
32 hours till lift off
The men below leave off what they are doing after 15 minutes or so, though it feels like at least a week, and then it takes about 20 minutes to pilot the rover to the bottom of the canyon. By the time the group reaches the bottom they estimate that they have about 15 minutes of freedom to explore before air supply forces them to begin the return journey.
Immediately the object of the men's curiosity is apparent. Smashed into the canyon wall about twenty feet up is a metal object of some kind, a probe or small craft whose impact has embedded it in the fragile stone. Bits of charred gray rock and a few twisted scraps of metal litter the ground in this area.

Eugene will look through the scraps of metal searching for any markings or insignias.

Re: Trieste: Vacationing in the Poisoned Air
The two spend five minutes or so of the remaining fifteen searching over the wreckage, and are able to put a couple of bent pieces together bearing a portion of insignia.
From what is legible, it appears to be a hollow white circle with three sinuous white lines radiating out at equal distances from the circle'sedge, giving it an oddly triangular look.
It does not belong to any organization that members of the group recognize.
Even more oddly, there is the telltale mark of a scout service insignia that has been painted over to add this insignia. While some older scout equipment does get sold on the public market, the service is always very careful to polish away scout markings so that they cannot be used by the new owners, which suggests that whatever this craft or device is, it was stolen.

"Carter, Ike take a look at what we found." He holds up a piece of fragment that bares the partial scout insignia.
"These fragments have scout markings that look to be covered up." Eugene then turn to look at the wreckage still stuck 20 feet up.
"What ever it was it wasn't decommissioned properly. It most likely stolen. Is this whole planet filled with crooks?"

Ike examines the insignia, should it jog any memories from his travels or in his sometimes startling memory. Then he tries to make out the remains of the scout emblem in case it has any numbers indicating former troop or location.
I take it they crashed and had something those menwanted? He says.
Let me know if any rolls are needed.

Re: Trieste: Vacationing in the Poisoned Air
You would need to access a database, but the initial part of the identifying number is easy enough to make out if you look carefully, which would at least give the home location where the craft would receive maintenance or refits.

Ike, ex-scout & explorer
Curious, Ike looks carefully at the remaining numbers and insignia and makes note so he can do additional research later via computer.
He looks around the area for anything unusual, on the outside chance that the others missed it.

Carter "Maybe we have something that can scan the insignia? Or if we can take it with us somehow...I don't know what do we have here in our little rover?"

Re: Trieste: Vacationing in the Poisoned Air
There's a small storage compartment in the rover that would be big enough to stow the fragments the group has in hand.

Eugene - Navigator
"I think the rover has a storage compartment. It should be large enough to hold these fragments."
Eugene then check the gauges on his suit.
"We should finish up here soon. The life support in these suits are limited."

Assuming Ike doesn't find anything else of an unusual nature, he nods to Eugene. "Okay then let's roll."
Re: Trieste: Vacationing in the Poisoned Air
29 hours until lift-off
The group gets back to Primary using the shortest route possible and return the rover, minus the fragments they found.
The rental agent gives them some suspicious looks but says nothing.

Ike, in Trieste city dome
"Let's find a database hook-up to research these scout ship numbers," says Ike after they return the rover.
He looks for a library or other facility with access. If none are available Ike goes back to the ship to use its system.

Eugene - Navigator
Eugene is going to stop in the gift shop. He picks up a snow globe of the domes and a really cool pen. The pen has a with a clear window with a picture of the rover they just were in and the landscape of Trieste. The best part the rover image move back and forth along the Trieste landscape when it's tipped up and down.
"Hey Carter which one do you think Samantha would like best? The pen or the snow globe?"
After Eugene is finished in the gift shop he is going to return to the ship.
"Hey guys I'm going to head back to the ship and get some rest."
