Let's kick this game off already!
I'm going to need a d20 roll from each player.

The morning air is crisp, and the blue, partly cloudy skies hint at rain; a common occurrence in the lush, moderately dense mixed forest you find yourselves in. Far off in the distance, low-lying mountains offer the promise of potential opportunities. After a brief break to rest weary legs, the lot of you -- four humans and one each of dwarf, elf and halfling -- near the end of the slight incline you've been climbing when Sylvan, a mysterious human wearing a green woolen tunic with a black hooded cloak draping over his face, calls everyone's attention to a low, stone wall just a bit ahead of your current position which seems to mark the apex of your climb.
---
Just quickly setting the general scene, but the world is yours to explore. I don't want to make any assumptions about what you want to do, so feel free to use the rest of today and this weekend to introduce your characters, ask any questions you may have or post any actions you'd like to take.
We'll jump in full force on Monday.

The halfling, Ciar (pronounced "Keer") by name, perks up at the mention of the wall.
"A wall, is it? Don't suppose it means any sort of civilization is near by? I'm beginning to wish I hadn't left that last town so quickly..."
He wears leather armour over comfortable clothes of various shades of brown and green. A short sword hangs on the left side of his belt next to a small belt pouch. A leather backpack hangs from his shoulders, partially concealed by his cloak.
He tries to follow the path of the wall with his bright green eyes to see what other structures might be lurking nearby.

Sylvan frowns a bit at the sight of the wall. "A shame to see such an intrusion on this beautiful landscape" he mutters. He walks slowly and deliberately to the wall to look on the other side, his hand moving slightly closer to the scimitar hanging from his belt.

The dwarf, Festus, hawks and spits as he readjusts the crossbow cradled in his arms. He looks at the surroundings and particularly the wall, alert for what could be lurking on the opposite side. He shifts the bulky pack on his back which is stuffed with half a mercantile store, making sure he can reach the long-handled axe should he need it.
"Careful now, Sylvan," he mutters, stepping off to the right, bringing the crossbow to his shoulder, watching the wall closely.

Fulp takes a sip of water, and returns the skin to his right side, next to the coiled rope. His trusty sword dangles from his left hip. He is dressed every bit the adventurer, with his backpack and bedroll behind him and a lantern dangling off the belt near the rope. His leather armor set to protect him from a rabbit attack.
His deep blue eyes look out toward the wall. He takes in the conversation while he looks around for other signs of civilization. He still feels fresh and rested from their short break, although he is certainly glad for the the walking stick he uses for support on this hike.
Anyone expecting to see something manmade here? Seems an odd place to bound a pasture. Maybe we can tell which direction the builder wanted to protect, this side or the other.

Only men would build something here.... Madrevin will say with a smile. Shifting his shield to his back the stout elf will take up his bow nocking a sheaf arrow. Dressed in studded leather dyed in dark green and black with a long sword on his belt he has long black hair and steely blue eyes.
Of course, it probably bears investigation.

Sparrow looks around with much curiosity. He wipes his brow with his sleeve to wick away the sweat. Wall? Here? Why? is all he says. Although his common is coming along much better lately, he still feels a bit uncomfortable saying too much. He keeps his words short and to the point.
The black skinned man stops and stares at the forest floor for a minute looking for any signs of life in this area. He has the look of a foreigner from one of the tropical islands that lie deep in the southern regions. His gear is as weathered as his skin and some of it looks as if he made it himself. His club that hangs from his side is hand carved from a wood that is unfamiliar to you and his studded leather armor shows its age badly. He carries a strange sword with a slightly curved blade but you don't see a scabbard for it anywhere on him.

Eohannud, a man of average height and rather fine appearance, carefully readjusts the ends of sleeves inside his soft vermillion gloves. 'There may be a settlement beyond, or there may have once been; or, perhaps this was once a march-land, and that wall marked its uttermost border. What is certain is that we will not know which until we finish the last leg of this accursed walk. We ought to have brought horses.'
A short gust of wind encourages the man to lower his richly dyed hat—quail feather jutting from its band—to sit more firmly on his brow.

The discovery of the wall, hinting of civilization, fills everyone with equal parts wonder and caution, and prompts
Festus and
Madrevin to arm their ranged weapons.
"Careful now," the dwarf warns as
Sylvan begins to walk deliberately towards his discovery, placing everyone on heightened alert.
The wall, which comes up to the thigh of the nearly six-foot tall human, is largely concealed by the forestation in the area, with an exposed area just off to the right. Just inside this exposed corner, some headstones can be seen protruding from the fertile ground. Deeper inside the cordoned off area is a stone structure of some kind. Beyond it, a lake or some other large body of water that at least a half dozen ships call home.

Eohannud takes in a deep breath through the nostrils, testing the salinity in the air to see if they have stumbled upon fresh or salt water—he also looks into the sky for birds.
Noticing the headstones off to the side, he starts. 'Hei-ho! Some clues.' He springs over to the headstones to take a closer look, palm braced on the hilt of his sheathed dagger.

Ciar approaches the wall a bit more casually than the others. Once he reaches it, he slowly climbs it to get a better look at the surroundings. He makes note of whether the area with the headstones is manicured or overgrown and the outside appearance of the building.

Sparrow spends some time looking around at the foliage and forest floor. He wonders if there have been others in this area before or what kind of wildlife could be found in this land.
What.....do you see? He says to no one in particular.

They put a wall up for a reason, let's see if we can secure proper entry? Madrevin will say with an slight shrug and smile. I'd hate our introduction to start with them wondering why we bypassed their security.
