Part 3: Sojourn into the Barrowmaze

The room has partially collapsed along the western wall. Worn frescos of a burial procession leading to a barrow mound line the walls. Booted footprints can be seen heading east. Along the southern wall, someone has carved "Beware the tentacle beast. It ate Galstaff."

Descending the rope and meeting up with the others, Marcus readies himself for whatever evil waits within the darkness of the mound.

Pyrrhic ties his handkerchief over his nose and mouth in an attempt to filter out the smell from below.
He lowers himself down and takes a defensive stance along the side, keeping a careful eye out for the tentacled beast and the corpse of Galstaff.

Peering out through the sole archway that leaves this dank room, a gloomy hallway leads off to the west. Your torch light barely fights off the shadows that try to engulf the hall in darkness once again. Squinting, you barely make out two hallways branching off this one and heading north.





OCC: I am assuming you are still in the entrance chamber and have not stepped out into the hall yet. I will reveal more of the map once you do.

Pyrrhic draws his bow and takes cover on the left side of the doorway, providing support for whoever goes down the hallway.

Uto drops his backpack, reaches under his byrnie and pulls out his Holy Symbol, which he kisses and leaves hanging outside his mail. Adjusting his shield and mace he steps towards the archway. "One of youse grab my pack. Let's see if that beastie that ate poor Galstaff is lurking about".

Uto is about to step out into the corridor when he feels a tug at his trouser leg.

"Hold there holy man!. These catacombs will most like be protected. Everyman hang back a way and Dren will earn his keep.... But be ready if the beast strikes".

With that Dren moves stealthily as he is able, aiming to try and stay 20' ahead of the group and sweep for traps as they progress.

Mortiganto readies his axe and shield. He looks down at Uto's pack as he passes, and shrugs beneath his own ridiculous burden before continuing to follow the cleric.

How are you sweeping for traps?

Dren moves forward cautiously, checking the floor, watching for trip wires or anything that might be the trigger of a trap.

Passing through the archway, you proceed about 20 feet, your torches pushing the darkness back slowly. A hall branches off to the left and ends 20 feet away at a door. In the hall you currently travel, 10 feet ahead of you, there is a door on the right side. 10 feet past that, another hall branches off to the left. And 10 feet beyond that, there are 2 doors, one on each side of the hall. The hall does continue to the end of your torchlight without any other break.

Gawain will move just past the door to watch down the corridor and cover Dren while he does his thing.

OCC: I'm not sure where you goes are going. You are able to get 20' down the hall to see what was previously described without finding or setting off any traps. What direction would you like to proceed in from here?

You promised us once we get into the hallway that more of the map will be draw out for us to see. :lol: So, Marcus will travel those 20' past the archway to get a better look.

After the 'all-clear' sign, Pyrrhic moves up to the first intersection and resumes a defensive-cover stance with his bow.

(Technical: Moves up to right before the first intersection. That way he has cover from anything down the unexplored intersection, or can move into it for cover if anything comes down the main hallway. )

Mortiganto keeps his weapon ready and takes up a stance next to the archer, Pyrrhic, in case anything gets too close.

(Technical: A couple steps ahead and to Pyrrhic's right.)
