Did I really have a choice? ;) Seriously, just kidding, I'm glad to have you in the game.

I'm still waiting on 'onlyme' and 'spanningtree' to complete their characters, plus (hopefully) get some interest from another player so I can add a fourth character into the mix.

Don't know if I've ever gamed with spanningtree. Always fun to see what someone else brings to the table!

And at least I don't have to worry about onlyme running a prima donna Cavalier this time! ;)

(Is it too early for razzing?)

hehe... sorry, mate. You know I'm just joshin' ya. I enjoy that each of your characters has a very distinctive personality. Can't wait to see what you're ginning up for this game. ;)

We have a fourth player: AleBelly. I've officially added them to this public forum and will need Greg (ToniXX) to perform the necessary behind-the-scenes magic he does to transfer Rukellian's old private forum to his control.

An interesting group is being assembled. :D

AleBelly may not even be aware they've been added yet (my PM response to his request hasn't been read yet), but, depending upon what kind of character he creates, I may have an additional little twist I could work into the beginning of the story/game introduction. We'll see.

Hi All,

Looking forward to starting the campaign - sounds very interesting! I have something in common with all of your locations - grew up in the Midwest (Ohio), lived in Chicago for 6 glorious years and after a stint in Ireland now live here in North Carolina.

Cheers
AB

Welcome aboard, AB! Regardless of your physical geography, I'm sure you'll fit right in.
onlyme wrote:Just make sure you do it before the waiting list gets too long to ride again.
I think you're safe. The wait list appears to be stuck at one, which is fine.

This is going to be a very short adventure... by design. My objectives are:
1) Test my capacity to run a daily game
2) Familiarize myself with the basic 0e rules
3) Have some fun!

I'm confident this game is going to work out, but there's a pretty significant difference between modern gaming (AD&D) and classic gaming (0e). At a fundamental level. I think I'll be better suited for a basic game, as my instinct is to just make rulings without necessarily referencing an official rule, but we'll see.

How well this game runs will play a large part in helping me determine whether or not I will extend the current game, or start something completely new. I do think, regardless of what comes next, I'll be sticking with the LL rules for a while, though.

I like me some old school rules, so this all sounds fine to me!

me three, I suppose. Though I am trying to figure out the difference between LL and Becmi. Something might bite me at some point in the game.

I strongly suggest you download and refer to the free rulebook: Labyrinth Lord. I was initially planning on using the Rules Cyclopedia, which I own, but specifically elected to use LL since it was free and everyone would be on the same page.

At the very least, I recommend reading through the 'Rulebook: DM Notes' thread. I've never used LL before and have almost read through the entire rulebook (I'm about 90% of the way though). I'm making comments throughout and sharing them in that thread.

Ummm... I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just grab a free copy of LL and reference that any time a question comes up. The differences will be pretty subtle, I think, but making sure you reference the proper rule book will make your concerns moot.

There is also an LL AEC (Advanced Edition Companion) rules. I have it but have not read through it all in great detail. It appears to a blend of B/X and 1e. No more race-as-class, you can be a Paly or Ranger (that God no Cavaliers, though). But a lot of the rules stay the same.

I'd be happy playing with any of those rule sets, honestly.

Oh I have it... just meant more for making assumptions off the wrong rules...
