hello,

i cannot tell all of you how happy i am to have found this site.

when i was 9 years old i discovered my dad's d&d books in an old trunk in the garage. being the good son i was, i took them for safe keeping (they looked much too important to be just laying around in there, he must have forgotten he put them there so i figured i would return them to him... ). this started my table top adventures through ad&d 1st ed, dragonlance, star wars, gurps, and cyberpunk.

unfortunately that all had to come to an end. now im grown up, have kids, and not a lot of time. i thought i would never be able to play these games again that i loved so much. today i found this site and discovered that people are playing on forums. it sounds like an amazing way for me to get back into playing without needing huge blocks of time set aside, i could even play from my phone!

i will be looking for a first edition AD&D group to join soon, and want to thank everyone for creating this awesome site.

Welcome to the Unseen Servant, Anivar! I'm sure we will be able to find a game or two for you in short order! In the mean time...

If you haven't already found them, here are some threads on playing and GMing on the Unseen Servant:

Welcome, Anivar.

It had been 20+ years since I played before finding online options and agree that play-by-post games are exactly what many people with more responsibilities than they have free time are looking for and need.

Hope you find a game soon!

Welcome and great intro!

A lot of us have similar stories: played 1ed back in the day, now have kids and wives and jobs and ??? but want to play again... You're definitely in the right place! I'm sure you'll find a suitable game quickly.

Enjoy!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am a bit upset I didn't look for forum games sooner. I had been watching craigslist for games but everything I found required a 6 hour block of time once or twice a week which is hard to swing these days.

Thank you all again, I look forward to gaming with everyone.

If you can get over the slow pace PbP is awesome and you'll be glad you found it that's for sure.

Correction, if you can get over the glacially slow pace PbP and the common sputterings to a halt followed by jumpstarts, you'll be glad you found it. ;)

Meh depends on the game. I know when I dm I fight as hard as I can to avoid the latter part where we sputter to a halt lol. Glacially slow in comparison to FtF is just a fact of life with these forum based games but it's better than nothing I suppose.

All too true considering the alternative being not playing at all
