Hot Times in Slateholm 6/23-24

I'm bringing you together for several reasons.
  1. Both groups have goods to sell and or identify.
  2. You have tales to tell each other.
  3. This is also a good chance for everyone to CAROUSE! I'd like it if some of you made it to Level 2. :)
  4. Beyond that there is also the possibility you might want to join together or reconfigure who is working with whom for further adventures.
  5. There is someone that might want to join the game and having you together gives me a chance to let them join in.

Of course, you could just ignore each other and that would be your choice. :)

As the two groups of Adventurers approach each other along Market Street you both see the Curio Shop, a Jewelry Store, and an Apothecary between you. Rowen and Durant leave the group coming in from the east and angle off toward their respective duty stations leaving just a group of Adventurers coming face to face in the street.

Draven will wave. "Well met! Have you all been well? Looks like you came out better than us."

"Don't do anything without me, I'm heading to the Ord temple to see if I can get some coin."

Roll for Initiative!

Ooops, did I type that bit out loud...? :SAN:

Taking advantage of the pause in Market Street traffic Vesper bids Galreth "Wait a moment and hold the barrow well!" before nimbly stepping onto it and then atop the chest carried within. She further attracts attention by shouting "Hey, is that you looking at my chest?" as heads turn she dances a few turns from her impromptu stage.

Even in leather armour (and the oddly extra armoured calves her team share) her moves are certainly suggestive... and apparently deliberately so. She finishes with a finale that goes from hands in the air to running them over her body as she then, very supplely, bends from the waist. Folk momentarily stop in their tracks, collide and/or drop things possibly (or inevitably) involving a fruit vendor. Smiling broadly at the chaos she takes a bow and flipping strait to "barker" mode announces "Vesper Hush and her performing Shadow Cats! Ask at the Golden Coin or Adventurers Guild for performance times. Don't bring you kids. Do bring your coin. Discounts for Priests of Ord".

She dismounts nimbly and introduces herself. She looks attractive even covered in... ohhh that can only be sewers! She smiles brightly "Hello, I'm Vesper. We have a lock that needs a... tickler. Starting the bidding at a free invitation to the best party in town?"

Seeing that Tinu knows Draven she gives her a warm smile then mischievously adds "Careful with him. You know he's only after your clothes, right?"

(OOC: Hail and well met all! Very much looking forward to gaming with you and my commiserations to those who have endured me before... ;) :)

Vesper again! :o

So much fun!  ).

"A base lie," he said with a droll smile. "Vesper is the one after other people's clothes."

Vesper retorts "Moutebank! I did indeed appear to leave you as a business marker on a "costume change" which made perfect sense at the time - but in such noble company! After all it was I who had stolen a kiss from the Lady while dressed as a man and you..." she frowns in deep yet possibly futile attempts at organizing fragmentary drunken recollection "...while dressed as a man ...who later held another's clothes as barter when they had returned after conducting very important business... The substance of which was entirely plain due to my... er... their! Um... possession of a very impressive hat!"

She continues compiling her accusation "Which not only confirms your reputation as a Double Scoundrel... but also..." she pauses while giving Draven a wickedly triumphant smile "...as a "Clothes Horse"!"

"If I'm a clothes horse, I need to start dressing better," he said with a laugh. "Justify it all you like, but your clothes were bartered to another and I was simply returning them after having them cleaned. Not exactly the work of a double scoundrel." Then he grinned devilishly. "On the other hand, if I were to procure suitable clothing for you, I wonder if you could resist wearing them. I might just have to find out."

Vesper allows with a slow smile "It was quite a night... maybe I'm just imagining what I might have done... and yet I can't remember what I did. However, you still ended up with my clothes... which you did return... while I was in someone else's. As to buying for me... there's the matter of my negligent modesty to address and to then balance that against what some might crudely describe as my "wanton addiction for people's attention". That last from the third both on the left at the Golden Coin - but yet they leered enough for ten! Balancing both while fulfilling "suitable" is surely a challenge to the art?"

Her tawney eyes flash as she smiles "I look forward to wearing it".

Robin brightens up as the others approach. "Do you know these people?" He asked of his current friends. "Are they other adventurers as well?" He watches with absolute amazement as Vesper performs in the street. Robin walks up to Vesper. He is a bright-eyed, curlyhaired hobbit just barely past his majority. "I would like to see your performance. We have nothing like that in my village! They told me back in the village that the city was full of strange and disreputable characters. I'm glad to meet someone that is strange, disreputable and friendly like you." He held out his hand. "My name is Robin and I won't steal your clothes. Also I might be able to pick the lock on your troublesome item."

Vesper seems fascinated by the new company of non humans. She gives Robin a bright smile and drops a curtsey (albeit she's wearing leather trews) leaning down to take his hand "Vesper Hush. I'm glad my clothes will be safe with you about! In fact I often need someone to pick them up for me. I am friendly and might look strange to you but I am not really disreputable. Indeed I am known in the Dock District for... well reputations can be misleading".

She crooks her finger and casually purrs "Come over here and have a look at my chest. It's next to my other troublesome item". She stage whispers "He's called Draven and actually isn't as disreputable as any of us currently smell". She introduces her other comrades "Gaurbal is this mighty warrior and Galreth here is a master of the arcane. This is his friend and mine Jake". She indicates a corvid perched on the chest. Cutting to the chase she says "We just came by it and it's locked. Front row seat at tonight's performance of the Shadow Cats if you can open it".

She leans to look over Robin's shoulder and whispers breathily in his ear as he examines the lock "It's not been opened for a very long time is about all I can say... Um... am I helping? I could give you a kiss for luck...".

Vesper gives Tinu a dangerously reckless smile "Well, if you're willing to party so hard your clothes might end up somewhere other than where you remember why don't you join us tonight? The Shadow Cats will perform at The Gold Coin and then we'll drink..." she laughs joyously "...and see where our clothes end up!" She pauses "It's actually a little more civilized than that... Wait, no, I think I was right first time!"

She suddenly notices Ferd and smiles with optimistic excitement asking "Master, can you play that lute - or is it loot?"

While the two groups are getting to know each other better on the street you all see a Halfling woman wearing a dark green cloak step out of a shop very near you. All of you recognize her except Robin as Daisy Hodbringer, a member of the Guild.

"Well hello again!" Daisy grins and strolls over to the group and jingles the coin purse on her belt, "I'm just back from a little adventure south of Slateholm. Found a bit of treasure that I just sold to the Curio Shop right over there."

She looks at the wheelbarrow, "I see you found some goodies, too!"

"I can recommend the Vast brothers in there.
, she nods at the glass fronted door with Ye Old Curio Shop written in gold paint on it, "They gave me a fair deal on the statue I found, and right next door old Mister Lakaster bought the pearl necklace that was draped around the statue. So, I'm pretty flush at the moment." she ends with a wink and a grin.

Then in a more serious tone continues, "Well, I got to go pay my tax to the Duke on my find now." she shrugs the adds with a grin jingling her coin purse again, "Maybe I'll see you at the Trident and Shield later. If I do, I'll buy a round of drinks and we can swap stories, eh?"

With a wave she heads off across the square toward the Tax Office attached to the Duke's Keep whistling a merry tune.

OOC: In other words, go sell your goods and pay your taxes. Then you can deal with the Church and flirting your time away. :p

Robin returns the curtsy with a little bow making for almost a dance with Vesper in the middle of the street. "Well if you are well known around here and friendly and I would be glad to pick up your clothes if you are willing to show me around. I would like to see more of your friends but not any that steal clothing." He approaches closer and looked at Vesper's bosom with confused interest. "You guys do stink quite a bit. I think I brought some soap from home that is scented with flowers." As Vesper introduced the others Robin gave the each a small bow. Robin looked closely at Jake and pulled out a shiny rock. "I found this on the road to the city. It's very shiny and colorful. Would you like it Jake? I can keep it for now if you like."

He leaned closer and looked at chest. "I will try to open it but can I still come to the performance tonight even if it proves too difficult for me to open?" Robin looked up at Vesper and nodded. "I think you are the best and most helpful person I have met in the city yet except perhaps the Guild master who waived my fee. A kiss for luck would be most appreciated friend Vesper. My mother always said you could never have too much luck!"

"Isn't he just - but also a rare true heart indeed!" A delighted Vesper readily agrees with Tinu as she then responds to Robin "Since you have honoured me so of course you can come along tonight as my own guest. But maybe not a front row seat - Draven and Gaurbal combined had trouble restraining those nearest the front at our last performance! Master Robin, of all the gentlemen I have met on the road you are surely the only "Gentleman of the Road" I have met who is actually a gentleman!" She gently drops to her knees and leans in to deliver a chaste kiss but only Robin hears her murmur "Skill of hand and truth of eye yet be a boon to you and I". Her kiss isn't overly passionate but there was certainly a... frisson!

Robin blushed when Vesper and Tinu complemented him and even more so when Vesper kissed him. "Gosh, thank you for inviting me to the performance. I'm sure I will learn a lot from you and your group. The front row does not sound like a place for me; I have no desire to get in a fight with anyone over a performance of hearty song and dance." He bobbed on his furry toes in excitement. "The folks back home will never believe me. I've seen the big city and the ocean and now a professional performance!"

He held still as Vesper lightly kissed him. "Oh! I could feel the luck!" Robin's eyes were wide as he touched where she kissed him. "You have real power. My mother told me that you could never be too friendly to those that deserve it or have too much luck. I'm going to stick close to you!" He glanced at the chest and pulled out a small bag of surprisingly fine tools. "Let me try to open up that chest for you."

Someday your luck is going to run out and you'll fail to make that roll. Someday, but not today. :)

As for the Thread Title, that's for later when you all go Carousing! :D

So, Robin are you going to pick that lock right here in the street, or maybe wait until you're inside away from prying eyes?

Robin already has Advantage in opening locks, so if he tries to open the lock on the chest he gets to roll 2 d20's keeping the best and if neither work use his Luck to roll a third d20...sort of a Double Advantage. :)

So, if you want to open that lock as a Thief, Robin would do a DEX check with Advantage (Double Advantage if you use Luck) against a DC of 15. Oh, and FYI, you might want to check for Traps before you try to open that chest even after you unlock it..<g>..Dex check with Advantage against a DC of 12. I won't always tell you what the DCs are, but this time I will.
