010: Off to The Deeps

While I'm not stopping what is happening in the previous thread, the handover back to me is imminent and I'm starting this one to begin the process of taking the reins back. The two threads will run simultaneously but the previous thread will influence things in this one. That may mean there are revisions, but we'll manage that.
There will be a time jump between the previous thread and this one of about two weeks. Long enough for a message to be sent back to Glisten via the hop freighter in Collace now and for a ship or ships to return. If you have things you want to be doing in the intervening two weeks, speak up.
While the mercenaries (or some of them? I'm a bit uncertain at this point) will be going, I'm not sure if this is a cloning and any players/characters from Tiglath's game are coming along or might be having an alternate universe (being in two places) option. Who from Tiglath's game might be coming along (and potentially also staying here?)? What is the plan? Will Frank Cross, Prerna, Dzofin, or anyone else I'm forgetting be on the road trip? I'd be happy to host some new faces. Or, alternatively, as Eris is no longer playing, Spicoli is available is someone (looking at Frank) is interested in being a baby Ancient.
Once I know some of these things, I can start playing what happens in the interim. Sound off!

To be clear, I'm trying to Shanghai anyone. Just not sure who is going and not. This is a major deployment for them after all.
And what is Jaelah doing over the next two weeks prior to leaving Collace?

The wizard will leave you some toys.
Tiglath will have to clue me in on who the NPCs that are going for the mercenaries are.

Needed player input for next two weeks for characters:
Arkar: Work with mercs and learn psi if possible.
Garvin: Hanging with Aster.
Jaelah: Complete public and private faces of her support network on Collace.
Walt: Training weapons and armor with mercs and attempting to pick up psionic stuff.
William: Working with Walt on merc training and psionics. Also fencing with the Zho.
NPC actions:
Metz, Bianca, and Roscoe are splitting time between doing anything the mercenaries need, setting up Roscoe's business in a way that won't make it a target, and working on a secret project.
Bona is spending as much time with the mercs as possible working on combat skills and learning weapons systems.
Aster is discussing something with the The Twilght.
Ciencia is spending a lot of time back at Glisten and then on the way to Vincennes. She's relocating her Grand Ducal holdings there.
Spicoli has retired to the pocket universe. He has declared that he will oversee the Scout Service. That will take him out from under foot but keep him in reserve.

Walt will continue working on advancing his Telepathy, END, and DEX. Perhaps working his END and DEX drills into anny opportunities to learn Telekinetic Combat techniques from Tourmaline.
Besides that, Walt will seek to “train-the-trainer” of the Mercs on the weapons and kit we plan to transfer to them.
And he’ll spend a lot of time”quality time” with Bona!

Is Walt familiar with advanced battle dress? *checks* Nope. They may need to train you.
Has a discussion been had on how you intend to arm and armor the troops? What weapons are you talking about? Metz plans to keep them to TL16 but might be willing to chat about exceptions. In fact, that sounds like a player meeting item. I'll need details and then PC buy in. Please start a meeting to discuss it in this thread.
Tiglath I'll let Tiglath venture if you learn any combat techniques from Tourmaline.
I'm not doing jump week stuff as you will be too busy to manage that. It will have to wait until you have the spare time.
Bona is most pleased to spend all the quality time with you that you desire.

Then Walt will just train the Mercs, get trained on Advanced Armor, and try to learn a few Telekinetic Combat techniques from Tourmaline. And sneak away with Bona as able?

You’re certainly doing that, but you should take lead on deciding what tech you’ll be using. Post the start of a meeting with the PCs and NPCs to decide that. You can do it!

Walt calls a meeting of the Ancients to discuss how we will give our Mercs an equipment advantage over our adversaries. Considering and agreeing with Metz’ request to limit tech transfers to a plausible Metz’ TL16, Walt recommends providing the Merc leaders and influencers with training on all the advanced weapons we have come across, and let them determine how many of each types to kit out their troops.
He recommends replicating the following weapons from the following link:
viewtopic.php?t=13826&hilit=Fusion+Pistol&start=460
Specifically, Walt recommends the Laser Revolver for low-G combat; the full range of Gravitic Weapons (Rifle, Crew Weapon, and Pistol) for ground combat…especially where variable damage is desired; Maser Rifles and Plasma Rifles for cracking open hard-shelled enemy troops and equipment; and Ion Rifles for taking out powered armor and vehicles.
They have Advanced Power Armor, so we should replicate the number of units they require. We should also offer Rexwell Suits for light infantry or highly agile operators.
”As for Ancients armor, Shimmer Suits, I think, would be of a TL that will be difficult to explain. All the others require psionic activation of key features. Not seeing anything there.
Speaking of that, we’re outside the Empire. I’m guessing they have people who can instruct us in the various fields of psionics. Do we make this gear contingent on them providing tutoring in in “The Art”? I vote we do so.
How about Bio Augments? I think we should offer some to the leadership and their designated key personnel. Do we want to give the Metz Special to any?
What do you y’all think?”

William considered.
"I would absolutely agree with the hand weapons you listed Walt. Rexwell suits are quite good and should be provided for vehicle crews, light infantry and support personnel. We should not provide any large-scale psionic equipment. There is a great deal of prejudice and I don't want large public displays of such equipment that might be linked back to Ciencia. We don't want any awkward questions. Let's also offer upgrades to their vehicles and ships." He shook his head at Walt's possible objection.
"That's not to say that we don't engage with the elites that have those powers. I am all in favor of that as we can keep it deniable."
"Augments are not a bad idea but we should tread carefully as many do not want heavily cyborg troopers. We can engage the leadership on that one. One area we can help unreservedly with medical technology. We should offer the best that we can under the technology limitation."

“Do we want oddball weapons for our military forces?” Metz asked.
“I had been thinking of iterative advances to common Imperial technology. Gravitic weapons are effective, but heavy when not activated and non standard. Laser revolvers seem… underwhelming. Why not take top of the line Imperial military gear and just make it better? It won’t stand out that way. Not much, anyway.”
