CHARACTER GENERATION
Use the procedure found here:
https://oldschoolessentials.necroticgno ... _Character
I will provide SEVEN rolls, in order, for Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, Dexterity, Constitution, Charisma, and Gold.
Players may swap GOLD with any other stat. Once a class is chosen, players may swap points (as described under "3. Adjust Ability Scores) to raise the character's Prime Requisite(s).
Check for each Character Class's perks in the House Rules.
Starting gold is GOLD stat x10gp. Buy any equipment you wish.
PCs start with maximum hit points at level 1.
Anything unclear, or you want something special, just ask! You may not get what you want right away, but it may give me roleplaying ideas.
Create your character in this thread. We will tweak things after you provide a short background (including receiving some DM gifts!)
Once I approve it, I will tell you to post it under ROLL CALL.

I will run a cleric. Swapping Gold and Con for the extra hp. I will work on my sheet over the holiday when I have a few minutes.
If it is allowed and anyone wants to I can make any of these sets work for me so I am willing to swap my set for any of the others if my set works better for someone else.

I am okay with players swapping sets. Just keep me in the loop.

I am really on the fence about what to play, since the ability spread is pretty even. But don´t want to waste that Con 18
Feel like risking an Elf (perhaps swapping Gold roll with either Str or Int), since the high Con might help vs. the fact I cannot wear armor and cast spells. Would probably be more of a caster who can draw steel if attacked, or shoot a bow if out of spells.
Thinking something like…
Strength 12+1=13
Intelligence 13
Wisdom 11-2=9
Dexterity 13
Constitution 18
Charisma 9
Gold 11

Unless I'm missing something in the House Rules, elves can cast spells in armor.

Wait, what? Why have I gone all these years thinking Elves could not cast in armor?

Was it different in BECMI or RC?

Nope! It's one of the reason elves are so OP in BX/BECMI.

I am going with, Muriel, the Angel of Glory - Goddess of Valor, chivalry, virtue. Her symbol is a sword on a red kite shield. Lawful.

This is one reason I house ruled Elves to differentiate them from Fighters and Magic-Users!
Fighter gets awesome weapons and armor PLUS cleave.
Magic-users get crappy weapons and no armor BUT lots and lots of spells.
Elves get awesome weapons and armor, a few spells that they can only cast a few of per day EXTEMPORANEOUSLY, but they advance more slowly. Plus, Elves will eventually have access to other types of magic.

Oh, and SPEND THAT STARTING GOLD!
One reason for adventuring should be "lack of funds"! Haha
We will assume everyone has their lodgings paid for through the week.

Yes, buy a sword.
When chargen is done, I always give each PC something special...in fhis case, I will plan something for the sword.

Ok, I need a second pass at the elves houserules
- every ELF has 3 perks:
1/ SPELL MEMORY, a mental spellbook of each spell known based on spells castable (as rules) plus a number per level equal to Intelligence Bonus (plus Read Magic). Normal spellbooks are often still used to swap spells in and out.
2/ the ability to SPONTANEOUSLY CAST any spell in their Spell Memory without memorizing it individually beforehand.
3/ access to an expanded spells and/or abilities of ELF MAGIC (to be detailed later)
So instead of memorizing x spells each day, Elves have a list of spells ‘in memory’ according to spells per day, and then they can cast any spell from it, is that it? So imagine I have 3 level 1 spells per day. I choose Magic Missile, Sleep and Mage Armor from my spell book for level 1, but during the day I can cast a combo of those spells as I wish - three Magic missiles, or one sleep and 2x Mage Armor. Is this correct?
Then in their spellbook they keep the list of spells they know, from which they can draw, and commit to memory every day - am I grasping it right?

You have it exactly. The starting physical spellbook will be the same list though.
(If I understand 5e properly, this is sort of how their Wizards do spells.)
Let's take a level one Elf with INT13. Spell Memory will hold Read Magic, 1 spell from class, and 1 spell from INT. The spellbook will also have those same 3 spells. At any time during the day, the Elf may cast one of them once without declaring it "memorized" beforehand. (Magic-Users and Clerics must preselect their spells each day, as per normal rules.)

Ok, I think I got it. But then, if I find more and more and more spells to add to my spell book, that means I can basically cast from a bigger pool/selection in the moment, is that it? That sounds amazing. Are elves limited on the amount of spells they can learn or scribe in their spell book?
(Sorry but my knowledge of 5e is very limited

)

Haha! My knowledge of 5e is also limited!
Spellbooks (for any class) are essentially unlimited. Elves, though, will always be limited by their Spell Memory. But it DOES expand. And, if the physical spellbook embiggens, they can swap out spells to choose from every day.
PLUS, eventually, an Elf will gain access to other spells that MUs cannot use. (for example, in another game I run, an Elf will gain the Animal Companion spell when he reaches level two.)

I think my cleric is basically done. Let me know if you think I missed anything or you would like more detail etc. He only has 4 days standard rations but is down to only 8sp left. I can do a page like your template if you want once you OK him.
