Are advertisements here for games off-site allowed?
I ask because I am may very soon be in need of a re-recruit for a 2e game I am running on another site.
Thanks

We appreciate you asking.
We generally encourage DMs to run their games here instead of on outside sites, but who are we to prevent users from running games elsewhere.
That said, using these forums to actively lure players away from this site and onto another is certainly frowned upon, but maybe not outright forbidden (I’ll need to confer with the other admins before making a definitive statement).
I see you’re quite active in a 2e game here; it might be best to try and recruit privately by reaching out to the other users in that game.
Private messages are not monitored or policed in any way, so doing a little homework to find players interested in 2e, and reaching out to them privately, would definitely be preferable to posting a public recruitment post.

Thanks, let me know what you guys decide.
The main reason I asked is there is a substantial amount of work I had already put into the game there and wasn't ready to see it die out

Who knows, maybe by running a game on the other site, you'll be able to recruit people to play here!

It’s great that you’re encouraging DMs to run games here! While recruiting players privately seems like a good approach, I understand the concern about luring them away. Connecting with users from the existing 2e game is a smart idea. Keeping recruitment discreet can help maintain a positive community atmosphere while still finding interested players.

Interestingly worded post. On a 1 year old thread. As your intro to the site.
I think another thing about recruiting for offsite games, which sometimes frustrates the recruiter, is that a lot of folks here tend to want to play here. Many of them are on other sites too, but sometimes don't want to add another.

But good luck to all! PbP is a wonderful medium in which to play, hard to get rolling.
