Nahum

"Get clear now!"

He activates his hyper dex and focuses on getting everyone out of the way, himself last.

Approx. 12:20-12:30 AM, February 13th, 1944, Town of Sessano, Italy

As the newly manifested Giant of a German Talent started to hurl the 'half-a-truck' he picked up in his hands, the members of SST 11 reacted in different ways.....

SGT Koda activated his Talent Power and felt/heard/saw the Spirits guiding his hand, which now held a charged up Javelin and he hurled it at the German Talent, and he was happy to see his weapon fly into and draw blood from the throwing shoulder of the enemy soldier. A deep bass roar reverberated through the night and the burning hunk of metal was thrown a bit off course, it was now on a tumbling path to only hit a single member of the team of Talents.....his fellow Canadian, Phil Heuron.....

SGT Tom Nado moved to get out of the way while maintaining his Talent Power of creating a very small, localized rain cloud and he moved it up and over the Giant German Talent's head, causing the enemy Talent to swear and move a hand up to 'fan away' the cloud as if it were a cloud of gnats.....

CPL Phil Heuron attempted to get out of the way of the hurled wreckage, but in a horrifyingly slow-motion way, he saw the damage from Koda's Javelin had altered the enemy Talent's aim and now he was right in the trajectory of the hurled object. His eyes got huge and his life started to flash before his eyes before something hit him like a truck and knocked him JUST out of the path of the wrecked hunk of vehicle. He took a long moment to just lie on the ground, unmoving save for gasping for deep breaths and then he slowly turned his head and saw his Commanding Officer nearby and he realized Leftenant/Lieutenant Chisholm must've activated his Talent Power and moved quickly enough to tackle him out of the way.....

LT Nahum Chisholm activated his Hyper Dexterity Talent Power as he saw the effects of Koda's Javelin throw and Nado's 'obscuring cloud', but he realized quickly the hurled half-a-truck would now crush poor Phil Heuron. Moving quickly, he raced forward and made an open field tackle that any coach of any Football Team in American would've been tremendously proud of and knocked him out of the way JUST in the nick of time.....

Battaglia patted Adamanski on the head, signaling that the Bazooka was loaded and ready to fire and the Bazookaman took a deep breath and aimed at the lightning-lit cloud surrounding the Giant German Talent's head. He let the breath go and with a tremendously bright flash in the dark night, the rocket left the tube and streaked out towards its target. A moment later, in a shower of bloody gore, the rocket slammed into the Talent's head and exploded and a moment later a mostly head-less, normal sized German solider's body was lying on the ground.....

Every one took a long moment to enjoy the sudden silence as the fight came to a close and then, slowly, people began to move around again as members of First Lieutenant Rawlings' Platoon made contact with them, letting them know the fight was won. The Germans were routed and either KIA or fleeing into the night.....

Chisholm

"Everyone all right?"

Chisholm looks around to see if anyone needs any help.

Phil manages to nod breathlessly at Chisholm as he slowly works his way back up onto his feet.

Koda walks to the corpse of the giant, first to look closely and second to retrieve his javelin.

Did his body shrink bake down?

Koda

Approx. 12:30 - 10:00 AM, February 13th, 1944, Town of Sessano to Town of Borgo Santa Maria, Italy

In the aftermath of the attack, the members of SST 11 all came together again as they watched the other members of the FSSF treat Adamanski's wounds and put the 'The Worst is Yet to Come' stickers on the German KIAs.....

Koda retrieved his Javelin from the now normal-sized corpse of the German soldier whose Talent Power had manifested during the battle and after making sure everyone was okay, Chisholm had his unit moving back to the Forcemen's position across the Canal Bridges; the raid having been a tremendous success.....

The exhausted men got back to their positions around 1:30 AM and Nahum was sad to learn that Blanc's injuries would need more serious treatment, so his team would be smaller than usual for now. After that, everyone got some much needed shut-eye....

In the morning, a truck dropped of some supplies and a Corporal who was soon routed to the just waking up and enjoying breakfast members of SST 11. Luther 'Luke' Goodfox introduced himself to LT Nahum Chisholm and the other Talents; taking in the group of Talents attached to this interesting U.S./Canadian unit he'd heard so much about; the First Special Service Force.....

Koda will nod a hello and continue cleaning his javelins. He has been withdrawn lately and tired of death.

Koda

Luke smiles a shy but friendly smile to everyone and says in a slow Oklahoma drawl, Good to meet y'all. He appreciates Phil's smiling welcome, and appreciates Nahum's help in getting situated. The guys all look combat-tired. He notes Koda, a wonders that there's another Native American in the same little outfit of Talents. Some kind Army of test or experiment? He'd seen how the Army likes to do things like that during his special training. Scientists and professors in officer uniforms walking around with clipboards and observing and taking notes. He clears his throat and says, Uh, guys.... Before we go into action, I just want you to know that I fix wounds, a little. And I can blink from one place to another, without walking or running. Y'all probably know the Army calls it "teleportin." Anybody down and needs help, y'all say and I'll try to get there quick. I just wanted y'all to know now, before it comes up.

Oh yeah, and the Army made me a scout. Maybe because I'm a Pawnee, and Indians are supposed to be able to follow tracks and see stuff without being seen. Movie Indians can do that, but I'm just a Oklahoma Pawnee. Most of my scoutin has with a .22 single shot rifle and against jack rabbits, cottontails, and squirrels.
He smiles an awkward smile to indicate that he meant some humor. But I suppose I'm not worse at it than some guys I've met along the way.

Approx. 10:00 AM, February 13th through evening of 15 February, 1944, Town of Borgo Santa Maria, Italy

Over the course of the next two days, the members of SST 11 got some much needed rest and relaxation as CPL Luke Goodfox got to know his new team mates and everyone heard daily stories of the numerous raids being made by the black face-painted Forcemen against the Germans across the canal bridges. The Germans had pulled back to give a mile-wide 'no man's land' buffer zone and were heavily patrolling the area, but STILL getting hit hard and the dreaded 'death stickers' were being left behind by the FSSF troops in the wake of their attacks....

On the morning of the 15th, after hearing that the U.S. 3rd and 45th Divisions were being hammered by a major German counter-attack that included a lot of Panzers; a patrol of Forcemen came back to Borgo Santa Maria with a captured German Officer's Diary and soon, a translator was gleefully reading many of the entries....

-13 February: Reports from the nearly wiped out Garrison at Sessano of a terrible raid by the 'Schwartzer Teufel'.....

A Forceman SGT asked, "What's that mean?"......the reply was quick from the Translator; "Black Devils"

-14 February: A Patrol was sent out last night but they did not return....Suspect they fell to the Black Devils......we never hear the Devils when they come close.....just find the bodies and those terrible stickers afterwards......

Like wild-fire, the nickname 'Black Devils' is soon spreading all throughout the First Special Service Force and the Brigade quickly gains a nickname that would follow it forever after.......the Black Devils Brigade.....
