Chaosium recently announced yestereay that (due to current OGL shenanigans) they will be selling their Basic Roleplaying System for only 99 cents on DriveThru until the end of the "New Year, New Game" sale.

I'm not sure how many would be interested but getting a full fledged game for just a dollar is a deal I would always snap up!

Update: Chaosium has made the new Starter Sets for Call of Cthulhu and Runequest available for .99 cents as well!

Bought it, who knows maybe someone will run it in the scenario simulator, even if not it's worth it.

I think it is the fantasy version of Call of Cthulhu. Easily worth 99 cents, but I already own it.

It is the framework that games like Cthulhu and Runequest were built on.

BRP is a multi-genre "stats and d% skills" based game, and as Scott308 said, the basis for a lot of games. RuneQuest (fantasy) was the original, I think, and then it branched out into all sorts of options. Easily worth full price.

With WOTC intent on cutting their own throats, there's an opportunity for another company's rules to replace D&D as the default system.

We could do a lot worse than BRP.

Very true. I am a HarnMaster fan which is also a descendant of RuneQuest.

With these Chaosium games going on sale it could be a good opportunity to try out some new systems! I'm not very familiar with running any of them but I might take a crack at running one once Ive had time to read through these.
