This is a thread where we can discuss anything unrelated to the game.

If you need to be away from the boards for a while or whatever, this is a good place to drop that type of information.

Has anyone who backed the 3E Kickstarter received their hard copy books yet? I just got my shipping notification yesterday.

I found my PDF of the rules, I missed it as it doesn't say 3e on it. But I haven't heard on the hard copy yet.

I am not sure about this, but I think the name change from Astonishing Swordsmen and Sorcerers of Hyperborea to the slightly more user friendly new name of Hyperborea denotes the distinction from 2E to 3E.

I think you are right but I have all my PDFs in one folder and I assumed it would have 3e on the cover somewhere. I know, you should never assume anything.

Well, they began shipping on Thursday AFAIK. It'll take longer for them to come here to Europe, but I hope to have them before the end of the month. Fingers crossed!

If they are shipping from NH I should get mine pretty quick once it ships.

The books look great, but I just went with the PDF. I don't have much space and keep all my RPG books electronically nowadays.

I prefer actual books whenever possible but use PDFs quite a bit now.

I bought the PDF yesterday and I'm already wishing I had a book in hand. It's a helluva lot easier to flip through especially when creating a character. But $50 is a little steep.
Still...

I agree about the book for sure. I just counted and I have 18 RPG books piled by the computer that I am currently using.

Which ones Rex? :) Like only reference books, or modules?

Currently just reference books. I am running a HarnMaster game in the Scenario section and 7 of the 18 are HarnMaster resource books. Loose leaf binders actually. The rest are player handbook type books for various systems I am currently playing in.

Cool! In actual play hours, Harnmaster is actually my most played game. It's really great - with the right group. I especially like the magic system and fatigue in general. The Pantheon is IMHO the weakest part.

Take a look at the game I am running. You are welcome to join. It is more a trial to see how it goes with pbp and to give some people a chance to see the system in action. I agree on the pantheon, it is interesting but at times I would like to mix it up some. I have run my Dwarves with a Zoroastrian style religion at times.

Cool, thanks! Will read up this evening (in a few hours). I even wrote one or two articles for Lythia.com

I prefer having books over PDFs for sure. I still have empty espace for new books, but I rather be selective about them, so I'm now trying to find the sweet spot: the ones I care more about I've got in hard copies, the rest in PDF/ebook.

Keeping several PDF's on a tablet works great for conventions where one might play in 3 or 4 different systems in one day. But I have to admit that I still prefer holding the books in my grubby little hands.

I think most of us stare at screens all day, so I try to get away from that as often as I can.

Going through the completed sheets now.

That pretty much sums it up.

The more I flip through that freaking PDF, the more I want the actual book!
