Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 350D/81 (Late Morning)

Heading due west from the fortress, you trudge across the bleak and desolate Gam’A Zone. For two days, distant sounds and unexplained sky flashes followed you as you trekked through Motter’s Realm.

During the second night (349) you witnessed a dim red glow slightly south of west. As dawn gave way to morning and then noon, noticeable vibrations began to saturate the air. An omnidirectional crackle travels across the sky from an unknown source. As expected, another fortress comes into view and Its form is identical to the structure you left two and a half days ago.

OOC: I changed some of the Luck recovery times. Psionist now recover luck at a rate of 1 every five days. Those who had Luck recovery of 1 per 7 days have been changed to 1 every 5 days. Easier for me to keep track.

I also averaged hit point recovery at 10 per day, bringing everyone back to max.

Max says, Are we sure we aren't going in circles? This doesn't seems like this knights of whatever castle. It's more like those robot guys who killed a bunch of us and gave the rat two heads.

Denslow face-sprigs, rolls his eyes, and turns from Max, saying to the others, I wonder if these towers continue for some time along this westerly path. Do you think they lead to the Knights? I feel we should bypass this tower and continue on...

Silvrestri

"Both Motter's realm and the realm of the Knights radiate out from the centre of the zone, like the spokes on a wheel or a slice of pie. If this tower is slightly south of the previous one, then it may be that these are indicating the edge of Motter's realm and we are at the northern edge. I agree we should avoid it, keep north of it."

Podo

"Motter's realm truly is expansive. Are we sure that isn't the same tower?

Can I make a direction skill check to see if we are still travelling in the same direction we started on?

Using a spyglass, Max cannot see any stone objects to the south of the tower. The terrain around the structure is different from the first fortress that you explored.

Podo concludes that this is a different tower since there aren’t any indications that you have circled or traveled in anything but a westerly direction. Easy conditions, no skill check required.

Denslow says, You have a good trunk on your... you are wise, Silvestri. Let us veer north-westerly to see if we can happen upon the structures of the Knights rooted in the ground.

Anton uses his direction sense to confirm we are on course (roll?)

Anton confirms Podo's conclusion. You are on-course and west of the previous tower. No roll required due to current environmental conditions.

"Yes, to the northwest does seem like a good route."

Urlando
Feeling bewildered, Urlando lets the others lead the way. He whistles quietly through his rat teeth at the sight of the identical tower. Are there more metalheads in there? he says quietly to nobody in particular.

"Interesting," says Kurot. "There are more than one of those towers. Perhaps several. Silvestri, if you are correct and these mark the boundaries of Motter's realm, our true objective lies somewhere else, not with these towers. I'm feeling better and better about our decision to seek out more information. Of course, if the Knights try to kill us all, I may change my mind about that."

Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 352D/81 (Late Afternoon)

Image

Continuing to trek northwest for two days, you become more vigilant as sky flashes from the north increase in frequency along with corresponding low rumbling sounds. The terrain is gradually inclining in a westerly direction and by the afternoon of the second day, you spot a low escarpment in the distance. From your standpoint, this eroded 20-foot cliff forms the boundary of the west horizon which prevents you from seeing beyond.

Silvestri looks at the cliff

"Interesting. I wonder is this anything to do the inner zone Artic Zong mentioned, or completely unrelated."

He looks to the far left and right to see if he can determine any curve in the cliff.

The cliff continues north and south to the limits of sight. Its contour and height are irregular, but you cannot see a definitive change in direction or elevation.

Saiph

Quiet and pale at the start of the journey, the diminutive mutant has regained both pallor and energy over time, for he is now increasingly chatty as they travel, but he never seems to say much of great depth about himself.

When he sees the cliff he exclaims "That is surely a good barrier against Motter's metal creatures. Does anyone know how to climb?"

Podo

(Assuming I have some skills in basic geology being an underground denizen) Podo walks up to the cliff face to examine the rock, testing its crumbliness and whether it looks like there are decent hand and foothold for climbing.

Does it look stable?

Are the knights you are looking for to the North?
