Chapter Four: Monday Night and Tuesday Morning

4am - and the beer is having an unwelcome effect on the bladder.

The Belter Babe is fast asleep in the bed next to you and you quietly sneak, naked into the bathroom, leaving the main lights off. After a moment and feeling much relieved but still half asleep, you sit on the edge of the bath for a moment to reflect on the previous day when you hear the hotel door open. Someone is definitely coming in!

To be fair, he half expected some Cavaleiros lout to try again if they knew rooms had been rented for Sabah Media. He did prepare but the loaded shotgun is under the mattress.

From the room plan it looks as though the bathroom door opens to view the entrance door. He waits viewing the intruder though the doorframe, silent and ready to pounce.

So he grabs a towel, twisting it into a tight wrangled thick cord so he could wrap it around someone's neck to strangle them if the person looks dangerous or armed.

The to the bathroom door looks straight up the room at the two-seater sofas, but the plan still works.

With all the lights out, the only light is the safety-light's glow in the seating area. The black-clad intruder takes a quick look back into the bathroom, but doesn't seem to spot you are there. All you can see is the very end of the business-end of some weapon you don't recognise. He then moves on into the seating area where the door to the bedroom stands open.

So more used to thrusting with a bayonet or hacking with an axe, the former marine is armed with a towel.

Figuring if the guy has not seen me peering from behind the bathroom door, I may have a single opportunity to ambush him. (+6 initiative modifier?)

So I rush out and try to wrap the towel tightly around the guys neck and in a grapple drag him to the floor.

The intruder steps forward into the bedroom as Arnwulf charges across the intervening space. Hearing something, or reacting from some animal instinct, the target of the charge turns slightly and tries to dodge behind the bedroom door - The scramble sees the pair stumble almost as far as the bed - the intruder with his head wrapped in a towel, and totally ineffective in attempting to remove Arnwulf.

Jewell, the Belter Babe, wakes with a start.

"Looks like we got an intruder who fancied a threesome." he says as he grapples with the unknown assailant.

I was hoping to strangle him silently or knock him prone but the man struggles though blindfolded. I will try to wrestle him and disarm him.

The wriggling and squirming continues as you are unable to get a proper strangle or drive the guy to the ground.
The man manages to get an elbow into your side (3 points damage), but fails to get out of the towel.
Jewell has taken cover behind the bed and is scrabbling about over there.

After a couple of rounds he doesn't feel as though grappling is getting him very far. So I want to disarm the guy.

"Hey babe. You can stand there looking pretty or shoot this 'Son of a b@#$h'. Gun under the mattress."

He nods to the left side of the bed as he fights the intruder.

There is no answer from that side of the bed, just scrabbling...and a buzzing from the doorway.

what did my recon roll reveal?

It seems naked brawling is not one of his melee specialities.

Arnwulf combat: unarmed melee [2d6] = 5

If I can I want to disengage the still blindfolded opponent and make a grab for my concealed shotgun.

As you make a dive across the bed, your intruder divests himself of the towel and draws a stun-stick from his jacket.

The doorway from which the buzzing sound was heard is revealed to contain another intruder, pointing a weapon at you - which buzzes as it fires.

You end up, lying across the bed, shaking violently and uncontrollably.

"Stop your mucking about with that turban and check to room"

The guy in the doorway moves into the room and calmly shoots both Jewel and yourself a second time. More scrabbling sounds from Jewel and twitching from you. He looks at Jewel and checks her bag

"Damnit, it's not her! I'm going to farkin strangle Musa - And the clients aren't going to be happy with this"

Turban-man continues the search. He finds your wallet, looks at the id and discards it.

Your twitching is dying down. Turban-man notices and whacks you with the stun baton.

More twitching

"There's nothing here" and to someone by the suite-door "Lets go".

The three people leave.

You take a further twenty seconds or so to get full control of your limbs. There is a distinct smell of urine emanating from the direction of Jewel, along with whimpering sounds.

Supposing he should be grateful he was not shot dead, he gets in the shower, booting out Jewelly from the suite.

He could be tempted to rage through the hotel, shotgun in hand, naked as he is but whoever hit the room will be long gone. Security here ain't what it should be.

After breakfast he goes to the ship in search of work.

You are barely back in bed before there is a hammering on the door.

"Open up, It's the police"

"Mr Lugersen, if you don't mind, the police would like a word"

"Yeah. Well I got a word too! !@#$¥₩%"

He gets dressed. If the police are there with hotel security, they will have a key.

Worse, they have Jewel with them - and she is both angry at being attacked and at you for your sympathy and help. While the police want a word, she wants a whole books worth! (Mostly denigrating in nature and suggestive of your being "not quite a gentleman")

It actually requires a second police officer to settle Jewel before they are able to take your statement.

Despite Jewel's continued request to "Jail" you, the police decline to do so.

During the interview the police let slip that the operation was quite sophisticated (Persuade or Carouse or Admin roll depending on the tack you wish to take to getting more info)

The Hotel Security person stays quietly at the back - presumably hoping you won't notice him.

Goes a bit mad, adding a few more creative expletives at the hotel security. After the earlier assasination attempt and the dead Cavaleiros outside he had expected a tighter lockdown on potential troublemakers returning.

He has little to say in actual testimony. Unseen and unrecognised assailants who mercifully stunned them and left. The room had been reserved for one of the shareholders who declined to stay in the room.

He asks how the reservation account was able to be hacked into and laments the due diligence of the police and security present.

Arnwulf's denigration of the woeful lack of process and procedure in securing the Hotel's guests prods the Hotel Security guy into stating "Sir, The hotel was attacked by a heavy-duty cyber-strike and we were unable to rely on any of the electronic security measures normally used - Our guards did secure the entrances as soon as this happened, and one of our staff has also been attacked. If you wish, we will provide a guard on your door as this suite does seem to have attracted especial interest. However, I will note that no special security was requested by you or your companion and we did respond as soon as we were informed of the situation."

Jewel then cheerily joins in "See! Reckless!" and is again restrained by the second police officer.

"Well it seems I must repeat my earlier monologue.
Do you often get gun totting rowdies breaking up the place? Sirens blaring and blue lights flashing outside your door? Armed robbers surely targeting your guests can't help advertise your establishment glamorously.

What say I assist your security endeavours, identify the rowdy culprits and make sure they don't come back.

Fix the door. Stone throwing rowdies made an awful mess with the pebbles from the street. That's all. .... nothing to see here officer."

And I think you reminded me that as the hotel was your concern you beefed security up and the officers left a man in a car on the street, though not the car next to the car with the murdered Cavaleiros in. Much too difficult to nod off if that happens to the vehicle in front ... "

He waves them away with a demand for a refund and hearty breakfast ... and they could call a cab home for the young lady.

If there are no more questions, he goes back to bed and the shop later on.

Pranit wakes up with a start. and while putting on his pants.

"Queen, can you give me a visual of Stateroom four.

If so Pranit assess while putting on his shirt; if not he walks to stateroom four to check the door.

"What would trigger a water detection log Queen, it is a certain level on the deck?

Pranit uses his XO override to use the visual door window to look inside.

Using the ship 1MC. "Reven, lay to stateroom four." Then he tries to remember what stateroom Reven used last night, hoping its not four.
