D&D 5th: new sandbox interest?

Hello.
After a summer of Covid crisis' and navigating away from works potential 'winter of discontent', I am feeling energised to run a new challenge for myself. So I am putting feelers out to garner interest in a 5th edition open world /sandbox.
The core inspirations would be similar to the completed North & West Marches (LL) games which focuses on multiple expeditions of adventurers leaving their cosmopolitan city of learning, spiritual devotion, intrigue and skullduggery for post apocalyptical 'Monument Valley' type wilderness and ancient forests.
Any queries or questions please ask.
Thank you.

Anyone who quotes Richard III in a post peaks my interest. Put me down as interested.

I would be interested in an open world campaign with multiple PC driven plots and adventures that you could join in. And have a base to retire characters to for those real life hiatus when you have to be absent from the forum.
I assume that referencing the Marches games, players can shape the world with their interactions with the churches (and make pacts with devils), build mage towers, claim ruined buildings for strongholds, even pioneer frontier settlements with ogres. That type of stuff?
I do prefer that to a linear dungeon crawl. Put me down but I do not have much experience with 5th edition.

I've been itching to be a
player in a 5e game for a
looong time, and still am.
What would be your expected posting rate?

Hi Dave.
I think realistically a couple of posts a week are the ideal. It would be nice if an expedition group posted a bit more during encounters or combat times so that updates are not waiting on 'Friday Fred' who can only post once a week.
That said, players can dictate the pace their characters act during 'downtime' when they are researching a new spell or performing a ritual, training in the gladiator arena, building their tower or locating a merchant to hawk Gucci relics. So that individual RP can fit a slower posting schedule.
For me the key is keeping encounters flowing not dragging. I don't really like to npc characters or roll for them in their absence.
Hope that helps.

That does help, actually. I can probably handle a post (or two) per week, so consider me interested as well.

I've no real idea what most of that means but if you don't mind someone with no gaming experience at all joining in then I'm sure I can do at least a couple of posts a week.

This is one of those things I keep wanting to try as a player in 5e. I've run this sort of game with that ruleset for years off and on, but never gotten to play it.
I better hold off. But I will definitely be reading this one as it plays out.

How many players were you hoping for?

I have placed no limits at the moment on playets and am currently filling out my world building notes. I would hope to launch a forum site within a few weeks. I have to catch up with my DR game after a couple of issues first.
Because of an 'open world' nature players can drop in and out as RL dictates.

I am very much keeping an eye on this one and see if it might be something I fit into. Keep us updated, if you find the time - and if there's ever something you think we might be able to help you with, please do tell us.

Like Paladin, my gaming "table" is pretty full at the moment.
But...should this take a few weeks, I may be able to clear some room to play. So, I will watch and wait.
I am quite interested as to how a 5E sandbox will look

I would love to give this a go. Still learning 5e, but so far I like it more than I thought I would. I have some ideas I'd like to bounce off you.

I am impressed that 5e is incredibly balanced. Only started it this spring, but definitely my new favorite.
I rolled up a dwarf bard historian today. Also considering a potion witch (to try out the new alchemist artificer). Probably a few more ideas before we get there.

How's this looking? I'd be interested in trying a sandbox 5e. And I have just the bard to play with.

Guys thank you for the posts and interests. I was scripting background for the world setting and will make some decisions probably by New Year. Covid and Christmas are not good buddies for free time.
I am in dire need of updating my Deadlands game before I invest in another. My posts stalled due to a glitch in my office computer browser which has an update not updating.
Anyway. Back to this 5th ed idea. I welcome players reading through handbooks and getting a feel for characters they may like to play. Bear in mind that they may have to tweak concepts once the world scene and background is set.
In the archived games section. I made some notes in a forum entitled Brave New World (3.5 ed). So many features of my new campaign will have certain aspects of those included. Take a look. I will be using the Everantha City map.

Are you still wanting to do the 4d6c1 or a points buy?
