Salvete!
Sorry I didn't introduce myself properly when I joined a while back. Known rredmond through the K&K Alehouse, where I use the same handle, for several years now. He finally talked me in to coming over here and checking the place out.
I've played PbP over at RPoL for several years and run three semi-successful games over there, too, including one that went on for 2 years real time. I play face-to-face with a local group every couple of weeks, run games for my young kids, and occasionally run games for some of my co-workers.
I've been playing since the late 1980s, so I started with Mentzer BECMI and the orange-spined, post-UA AD&D books. 2e AD&D came out about that time and I played and ran a lot of that, too.
Took a hiatus about the time 3e came out as, despite repeated efforts, none of the 3.x or PF type games appealed to me. I've had one, very bad, experience with 4e and have no interest in 5e/Next/whatever-they're-calling-it-this-week.
Of retroclones, I tend to play and run S&W White Box & OSRIC.
Non-D&D games...Flashing Blades is my current addiction. Used to play Shadowrun and RIFTS. Played Vampire for awhile but no longer have any interest in "storytelling" games, including the very popular Savage Worlds, which I've also tried repeatedly without enjoyment.
So that's a rather rambling nutshell of what I'm here for: gaming, preferably D&D of some pre-1994 variety.
