An overview of the Super Power/Big Picture influences in the area.

The Imperium extends its influence to embrace Collace and the Trailing space behind it. This makes the "now border worlds" of Tarsus, Avastan and Pavabid the new political battlefield.

Inchin tries to restore its diplomatic ties with its neighbours and the Imperium. Avastan Portways Inc maintain a light infantry battalion on their world and appear to enjoy tacit Imperial backing despite rumours of pirate activity centred on the planet. Pavabid maintains neutrality due to its extreme religious convictions. Tarsus also robustly holds to its independence no doubt aided by its membership of the Ag Worlds Combine cartel of "bread basket worlds" (including Motmos and Tarkine) who threaten a complete embargo against any aggressor.

The Trexalon Technical Consortium owns the deep mineral deposits of Kuai Qing and has possessions on Ochecate. They have not only the backing of the Outworld Coalition (and active support of the Sword Worlds) but also those who would not wish to see Imperial trade restrictions curb the "free enterprise" currently enjoyed by Corporations beyond her borders in District 268.

Hmm...and a good starport, built with Imperial favor, would make a better J3 route from trailing Imperial space to the isolated bit in the Five Sisters sub-sector.

Seriously, though, wouldn't it be easier to build the port near the gas giant? There's enough raw metals in any asteriod field to work the hulls, and you'd not have to worry so much about whatever the atmo might be doing to the components.

And then you move all of the goods (and people) to and from the mainworld?

Per the Inchin thread, fewer than 10K sophonts on the planet. A class A port would likely have that many people, and the planet doesn't seem to have a great lot of value. Putting the Class A port in space means those big haulers can dock without having to transfer cargo to streamlined and gravity bearing shuttles. It might open up some cargo routes between Inchin and the surrounding smaller port worlds.

I've recently watched the first season of "The Expanse", so the "ditch the planet" thought is fresh on my mind. :)

It's my impression that we will be operating dirtside. That doesn't rule out a facility at the fueling point, though.

There's stuff you don't yet know...

You are both saying entirely sensible things.

The project has been going for eleven years now and may have issues with its execution and business plan...

Oh, no worries. Jakob wouldn't really have this sort of discussion, unless his (technically fiance) girlfriend wanted to talk about it. I was just looking at the map and guessing. There are a lot of possibilities, and I have no idea why the Imperial bubble is out there all on its own. Especially since most of the worlds are Amber or Red zone'd.

Are the Mewey staying quiet or are they mixing the political pot too?

Not a mew from the Mewey.

They remain peaceful.

However, Ochecate gets it's green coding from the Kuai Qing colony, Kuai Qing being a proxy of Trexalon Technical Consortium / Trexalon.
