Sir Crestbrook the Mighty

The paladin, on the advice of the party, follows the passage south, tapping the pole in front of him and averting his eyes from looking straight ahead.

Lerrick

The cleric continues to travel with the party, thinking not only the threat of the medusa, but now also what may take place if the party encounters Brutus. She keeps her thoughts to herself as she moves with the party to the south.

Maag

"So Brutus could be a worm? Or a Minotaur? Or a medusa? Or a cat?". Maag counts the option off on his fingers. "Anfink else?"

"Maybe we should start a pool? One gold piece each. Winner takes all. In der case of a tie, der money will go to 'ooever is left alive after Brutus is finished wiv us".
He grins broadly.

Andronichishche slowly walks along the tunnel following the others, listening to Maag's current dose of wisdom. Worm, minotaur, medusa, cat ..., he ponders quietly to himself.

"Mr. Maag ... ?", he asks, still facing forward and speaking almost as an aside.

"Have you ever heard of a chimera?"

Lerrick

The cleric chimes into the conversation of Brutus. If Brutus is indeed a worm, maybe it doesn't have the ability to see. If that is the case, once the location of the lair of the medusa is known, we can somehow lure Brutus into the lair. The medusa's gaze would have no affect on the sightless worm. Let Brutus help us kill the medusa

Saracen follows along with the others, careful to keep his guard up.

If it is truly a beast, I may have a spell to speak with it and perhaps encourage its assistance. Much like the one our druidess used previously. The less we have to tangle with the medusa ourselves the better we will likely come off!”

Andronichishche nods in agreement.

"Let us hope they're not cordial with each other. The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

Back In The Cave
Moonday, 15th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Damp, Dim, Humid

Two more dead ends are found containing two more unremarkable minotaur statues.

The group continues to guess at the meaning of all of this business as they move through another narrow tunnel, eventually making their way south, close to the area where they entered the cave initially.

Sir Crestbrook the Mighty

After looking both to the left and right of intersection for potential threats, the paladin leads the group to the unexplored southern passage directly in front of the party, tapping the pole in front of him.

Andronichishche looks ahead towards the front of the group, Sir Crestbrook barely visible at the edge of the torchlight, appearing as a blind man slowly meandering along checking for unseen obstacles with a cane. He raises his voice slightly so that Tlachtga can hear him more clearly from the rearguard. "That thought has also occupied me for quite some time now, hence my desire to complete our survey of these tunnels. The door we found earlier was well hidden but poorly concealed, being as it was at the end of an otherwise empty tunnel."

The half-orc pauses for a moment. "Nah....I don't fink so...Mind you, some of der places I used to drink, yer could never be sure wot dey put in der pies. I bit into one once an der was a metal badge inside dat said "My name is Mr. Tiddles".... Maag frowns, then shrugs his shoulders.

"Mr Tiddles wasn't dat bad wiv a bit of gravy on 'im though".

Andronichishche opts to refrain speculating what, or who, Mr. Tiddles was after so recently losing what appetite he had. "A chimera is best described as an amalgamation of a dragon, a lion, and a goat. A three headed monster with characteristics of all three species. You had asked if Brutus could be anything else than a worm, medusa, minotaur, or cat."

"Given the oddness of this island, I wouldn't be particularly shocked if Brutus wasn't a combination of any thereof. Greatly disturbing, yes, but also quite zoologically fascinating if true, wouldn't you say?"

Back In The Cave
Moonday, 15th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Damp, Dim, Humid

Searching through a few of the tunnels to the south, the group finds more statues in more dead ends. The statues are mostly unremarkable and look like all of the others you have seen in here so far. There is one area where two minotaur's are pointing at each other from across their narrow passage. The tunnel opposite that one has only one pointing statue who is pointing to a dead end with what appears to be more of the scribbled brownish writing on the smooth wall. The writing reads: Look Hear For A Secret.

Alordan hesitates before searching the area, "Could be a trap."

He also considers the message further and has an idea. "Why did they spell it that way? Shouldn't it be 'here'. Maybe it's a clue that we should do something with the statue that has it's ears covered back there?"

Tlachtga

"Perhaps something is triggered by sound. It looks to me that both dead ends should contain a door or some such. Also seeing all the statues maybe we have it backwards, these Minotaur have not been turned by the Medusa, but are the ones summoned to guard this place. just waiting for the call from the dais."

She searches the dead ends and has Cu sniff round.
