Please let me know when you do; I'd like to give it a try.

Will do, the last game I ran I struggled to get enough players so any is a bonus.

I'm contemplating running a Labyrinth Lord game in the new year, set in Melan's Erillion setting. Maybe starting with Volokarnos (his only level 1 adventure) but it would need a bit of work. Basically as a means to get some DM experience under my belt. Any takers? :)

I am not familiar with that setting. Could you give a short overview? Is it sword and sorcery, magic heavy, dark, dungeon crawl etc.
Thanks,
Rex

Melan, aka Gabor Lux, describes the history of Erillion as such:

For long considered a barbarian-infested piece of land between the great Kassadian Empire and the quarrelling northern kingdoms, the Isle of Erillion would only become populated in the times when the surrounding empires were already in a process of steady decline. The emerging realm had reached its heyday some 350 years ago under the reign of Queen Arxenia. The queen, who had controlled her tiny empire with an iron hand and firm determination, had subjugated or razed multiple neighbouring fiefs, until she was undone by her own cruelty. To lengthen her allotted time, she reached for the gift of un-life, sustaining her power through ever bloodier means. In the end, the Wraith Queen and her hosts would only be stopped at the end of an all-consuming civil war. Defeated at the gates of Tol Grashmak, and laid to rest in the Valley of Barzak Bragoth, Arxenia left behind a disintegrating kingdom, razed and plundered by her former vassals, as well as the foreign hosts who came to profit from the conflict. The capital, the port city of Silhanosh, was sacked and left to its fate.

With peace’s return, power eventually became concentrated in the hands of the merchant families of Gont and Baklin. Initially purchasing their peace from the landed lords with money, they would soon stand on their own feet, and through wealth and intermarriage, become more than enough to defend themselves. In these centuries, the main centres of the isle were resettled, although Silhanosh remained a forlorn ruin due to strange magics and Confederacy incursions, and the northern coasts proved inhospitable to stable habitation.

The rule of the merchants was ended by a period of turmoil 70 years ago. With the looming threat of another civil war between the most powerful families, the rival magnates of Erillion settled their differences by inviting a lesser Kassadian noble family to serve as their sovereign. With the arrival of the Princes of Baklin, Erillion has experienced a long period of peace, only occasionally punctuated by barbarian attacks and the odd uprising. Today, the throne is occupied by the third generation under the aging Prince Lodovic and his consort, Princess Arkella – although without a direct successor.

Yes, thank you! :)

A more birds-eye description from Echoes From Fomalhaut #2
a mini-campaign setting caught between rival powers, and the uneasy balance between pockets of civilisation and untamed wilderness. Erillion is a classical, low-to-mid level sandbox where you can place adventures at your leisure, and let your players figure out where to go and what to do.

From Beyond Erillion
As vanilla fantasy does, Erillion was clearly inspired by the British Isles, a place I only know from secondary sources (my one brief visit to London was a trip to a strangely placeless global metropolis, and does not count). The mood of the island was influenced by the idea of successive civilisations each leaving their mark on territory before fading away, and leaving behind their ruins and half-remembered legends. This is perhaps best captured by The Ruin, an Old English poem wondering about what had once been, and which, along with the painting to the top of this post, gave me the initial spark for the setting.

Of course, the main texture of the adventures comes from 1st edition AD&D, particularly the DMG and The Secret of Bone Hill (through a Hungarian pulp fantasy series), and my aim was to capture that kind of experience, to return to that particular brand of adventurer fantasy I had always loved.

Sounds interesting, thanks for the info. I would be up for playing, I don't have LL but am familiar with basic D&D.

I know I said I want to get back to Greyhawk...but this adventure keeps calling me to run it one more time.
I'm likely biased but, IMO it's the best single 3.5 adventure ever.

I have never played 3.5E but it looks interesting. The Wiki page for it says you can use it with any setting so you just say it is in Greyhawk.

I could be interested in Labyrinth Lord as well. Haven't played LL per se, but have certainly played a lot of B/X. I'm not familiar with Erillion but like the description. What would the focus of the campaign be?

I'd start with a dungeon crawl to ease into things and once that's done, open things up for the players.

I would be interested also.

Hmm, should this be split out into a new thread?

With this many takers i guess it's time to make a separate thread with more details. Thanks everyone :)

And then finally, after some discussion on the EN World forums, I find myself pining to get back to the Realms as it was when it first dropped. Little detail, sandboxy, gritty, and wide open spaces.
Anybody else feeling me?

Absolutely. 1e (grey box) faerun is always appealing.

I am good with the original Realms as well. Which edition you use doesn't matter to me, I don't have 3, 3.5 or 4 but assume I can find a PDF somewhere.
