Seeking Out The Jungle Priest
Sunday, the 14th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Hot, Humid, Damp, Dim

Galanthas asks around to see if anyone wants to try his new method of fishing. He doesn't get any takers. Monocar of course loses his battle with the inanimate wooden door, walking forward and knocking on it loudly, the only way he knows how. He doesn't get any answer from the other side.

Chauncey tries to convince the ghostly apparition of the former priest to tell him his troubles, following that up with a command of his own. The unseen figure simply hisses at the wizard from its corner, apparently unable to respond to he or Gilbert. It tosses a plate that crashes against the wall above the doorway where the mage is standing, showering anyone near the door with harmless shards of broken crockery.

Wes is pretty sure that Krystal is now in the same room as he, so he quits whispering and addresses the unseen thief. She stops her antics and speaks her mind in response to his question. "He isn't alone. He is right over there. We both decided to come out here to see what all the shouting, bell ringing, and pounding is about. See, Jaxsen is young and still quite impressionable. He will do as he is told, even if he doesn't understand why. But I am not like that. I want to know what is going on at all times, especially in a dangerous situation like this. I have nothing to hide from you, and you claim that you have nothing to hide from me. Well, if that is true, I would like to learn that for myself."

Treasure stops laughing and confirms the woman's claim, squeaking out loud, "yep, he really is right over there." Chauncey can also confirm this by looking through his magic gem.

The confusion from the invisible friends (and possible enemy) doesn't get the party any closer to acquiring the contents of the wardrobe.

Brother Gilbert

He cautiously enters the room, and prepares to duck any flying objects.

I know not why you remain here in spirit form, but if there is someway I can bring you peace, I shall try.

[1d20] = 12

May as well try turn undead, there is nothing else he can do at the moment. If there were a way to ease the entity into the great beyond, BG would try.

Chauncey turns his bottomless gaze from the room to their opportunistic guide "Krystal, you work here. What's the deal with the poltergeist? What does it want?" It seems you could explain much here, yet you do not," he says.

Mr. Wrenly shrieks after Brother Gilbert in concern as the cleric steps into the room.

Luther

Luther re-enters the room with Gilbert, intending to block as much of the flying crap as possible.

Jaxsen Reiter

"Yes," says Jaxsen softly. "I am right here. There seems to be much suspicion on both sides and I just want everyone to keep cool heads. If my service has come to mean anything, believe me when I say that both sides in this suspect the other needlessly."

Avaala the Grey

Avaala thinks Chauncey's questions have merit. But he doesn't know the extent of Krystal's involvement with Gorman, so he holds his counsel for the moment. He remembers Jax' work in the spider maze very well, however, and sorely hopes the young man is right. One thing about all this bothers him, though.

"Look," he says to everyone. "Unless anyone here is planning to break out in a fight, it is perhaps, fortunate that Krystal and Jax came out here at this moment." He points to the door that Gilbert just stepped through. "We seem to have some kind of restless spirit in there. It likes to throw things at anyone who enters. I don't know if it could see either of you. Would you be willing to test your invisibility against it, and have a look inside? Krystal, that way you could have a look at what you think we might be trying to hide."
"There is no spoon."

Wes

The druid shrugs. "I don't even understand why you think we would be hiding anything from. We're here on a mission, of our own free will. You know what that mission is and you joined us willingly. Unless you think we've all suddenly decided to sell you out to Gorman in the last sixty minutes or so"... Wes looks around. "It's not like this place is overflowing with treasures, and even if it were, we're not going to loot a temple of Pelor right in front of one of his priests are we?" He gestures towards Brother Gilbert.

Wes move over to the wall where he can keep an eye on the rest of the room whilst the others are dealing with the crockery-throwing spirit.

Avaala the Grey

Avaala leans over and stage-whispers to Chauncey, "No, but we might loot the heck out of this Gorman when we catch him." Avaala deliberately makes this loud enough for Krystal to hear, trying to break the tension.

Seeking Out The Jungle Priest
Sunday, the 14th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Hot, Humid, Damp, Dim

With no answer to his knocking, Monocar reaches for the pull ring on the other door while the weakened voice of Jaxsen sounds out to the others. The young monk desperately tries to diffuse the argument going on with Krystal. Avaala helps too, asking the invisible members if they want to try entering the tornado of items flying around in the next room. As Chauncey's black eye sockets slowly revert back to normal, he asks Krystal a question in his usual manner as his monkey's screech echoes around the empty walls of the stone edifice. The unseen woman replies, somewhat sarcastically. "Oh sure, step aside, I'll go in there. I know everything that's going on in here since I was here a total of.....let me see......ONCE!"

Brother Gilbert tries a new approach with the clearly unstable poltergeist. He holds up his sun shaped holy symbol and walks into the room again, administering the most polite turning of undead in the entire history of clerics. Luther shakes his head and follows behind the priest of Pelor, hoping he knows what he is doing. The items all rise again and begin whipping around the room, but once Gilbert speaks in the direction of the unseen entity, his attempt clearly has some affect on the spirit. The items all drop to the floor again with a loud crash and the stuff flying towards them stops as well, giving Luther an unobstructed path to the wardrobe. Neither fellow in the room can see the apparition or what it is currently doing.

“Ah! Very good, Brother Gilbert. You seem to have metaphysically helped us out of a jam, so to speak. Luther, the rope - what do you make of it? Have you seen its like before? It may well be useful to us in our... eh... liberation of this temple,” says Chauncey instantly forgetting the mounting confrontation with Krystal and walking into the room to approach the wardrobe and discuss rope matters with the ranger.

Galanthas rises the rope as if offering it to any who would volunteer. It seems he doesn't trust himself enough. "Or... maybe when Brother Gilbert has spoken the spirit?"

Luther

Luther shrugs. It's a rope- looks like a good quality one. Ranger Jax never had a lot of use for magic, so I got nothing. I suspect we better leave these things alone until Gilbert gets through with the old priest.
Putting his hands behind his back, Luther leans in to closely examine the items without touching anything.

Taking Krystal at her word, Jaxsen moves towards the door Brother Gilbert entered. "I'm here," he says. "Careful, I'm still pretty tender."

Avaala the Grey

Avaala tries to find a balance between not being in anyone's way near the door, and still being able to cast spells into the room, should it become necessary. As Krystal and then Jax speak of checking the room out, Avaala decides not to throw any spells for the moment.

Brother Gilbert

(Addressing the unknown entity)
I know not who you were, or why your spirit has remained in this desecrated holy place. I wish you no harm, but would help release you from what holds you here, so you may finally find rest. May the goodness and light of Pelor bless you.

He holds the sun symbol at arm's length before him again, and continues walking into the room. He has no idea whether Pelor will help the entity, but feels it is worth trying.

Wes

Wes remains at the wall, between the two doors. On hearing Jaxsen's voice he replies "Good to have you back with us my friend. I wish I could say you're looking well but since I can't see you..." He shrugs and smiles.

Seeking Out The Jungle Priest
Sunday, the 14th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Hot, Humid, Damp, Dim

Monocar opens the door to the next room, finding an uninhabited common area, complete with a large round table and several chairs. There is a normal wooden door across the room that must lead into the next area where the others are. This room doesn’t appear to have been used in a very long time.

Chauncey joins Luther and Galanthas near the wardrobe as Brother Gilbert keeps the disturbed undead spirit at bay. His kindness and soothing words do nothing to change the attitude of the turned entity, but the closer the priest of Pelor gets, the more agitated it becomes. Though Gilbert can’t actually see the tortured being, it still does not respond to him in any way.

Galanthas takes the rope from the hook and shows it to the others. It is a golden color, beautifully crafted with silken braided strands tied together with ornate tassels at its ends. About 17 feet long, it shows no signs of wear that a normal rope might. If it is indeed an article of clothing, used to cinch an ornate robe, it would need to be wrapped around a man sized wearer several times.
