We left on 2 June, and almost reached the Tower on 5 June - Three days back, though I don't recall if we had any healing days or if we were slowed by mapping. We've been out 7 days now.
Nine days rations have been removed from inventory for Bremen, Florian and Guaire for three days (since returning from the Crooked Path - which will take them through the end of 10 June, whatever we decide to do). Including hippogriff meat, Bremen has 11 days of rations left.

What is Irving doing for food?

Bremen is torn about staying or going. While his two tasks are not mutually exclusive, it seems wise to try and clear out the tower of centions and kobolds now. But the relic needs to be returned and that will bring him recognition and a way to bring back more folks to fight the centions. In the end he agrees to leave the tower in the morning. Here's what we'll do though. We pack up the relic and any other gold and gems we have.
And antique-worthy items, too. Any gold and electrum, and a bunch of the silver, we move that stuff to the third level to make it seem like we took it. We leave the copper on the first or second level, making it seem we left treasure we couldn't take behind. The silver will be on the second level,
in case they can get in. It makes it look like we couldn't carry it, but left the valuables we couldn't take up there. Maybe it'll make it seem like we couldn't get into the upper levels - that the ghost is still there.
Unless there is an objection, he gets the others to enact that plan. Agreeing with Bandy's assessment of the quarterstaff, he also takes some time to spar against Irving to get a feel for it.
Along with hippogriff meat, and many books from the Spectre's and Cardinal's chambers, here is a list of what we've found/gathered so far:
Bandy's Loot from Centions
  • - 3,500lbs copperm
    - 200lbs silver
    - 400lbs electrum
    - 600lbs gold

Passage of Strength Loot
  • - Golden dagger of Healing
    - Warhammer of Baudh

Ghast Loot
  • - blue azurite
    - murky black pearl
    - large pink rhodochrosite
    - pristine white pearl
    - radiant white moonstone
    - platinum ring set with polished three bloodstones
    - simple but elegant silver skull
    - simple copper circlet
    - twisted minotaur horn arm spiral, set with 8 Chrysoberyls
    - electrum scepter, set with 9 Lapis Lazulis
    - ornate battle flail
    - small black cube, two inches on each side
    - massive tome bound in leather with a golden latch
    - royal scepter studded with gems
    - brilliant-cut black gem on a delicate silver chain

Spectre Loot
  • - 100lbs silver (100gp)
    - 600lbs electrum (3000gp)
    - 600lbs gold (6000gp)
    - Scroll - Hold Person (2nd)
    - Scroll - Holy Word (7th), Wind Walk (7th), Cure Serious Wounds (4th), Bless (2nd), Purify Food and Drink (1st)
    - Scroll - Detect Evil (1st), Commune (5th), Quest (5th)

Crooked Path Loot
  • - knee-high boots of rough leather sized
    - patchwork beggar's cloak with a hood
    - steel dagger with an ornate black cat's head pommel
    - breathtaking ruby necklace string with fillagreed gold chain

Altar of Justice Loot
  • - Golden Star Relic (200#)

Cardinal's Loot
  • - ring of iron keys
    - platinum statue of hounds on the hunt, each with emerald eyes
    - small bronze statuette of an imperious griffin
    - figurine of an onyx horse with ruby eyes
    - platinum figurine of a six-winged angel holding the golden scales of justice
    - onyx carving of a wolf sniffing the ground
    - iron-banded quarterstaff, worn from heavy use
    - short obsidian wand with an adamantine handle affixed to the end and a long bronze chime with a leather cord to suspend it

We definitely should take all magic items/weapons objects d'art, gems and the relic. Then load up the mules with gold from the cention crates.
As I mentioned, move all gold and much of the silver and most of the electrum to the Spectre's chamber, then the rest of the silver and electrum to the second level, and leave all the copper and a bit of silver on the first level. Hoefully they'll think we took the most valuable of what we could carry and they'll leave the top levels alone. Maybe they'll even leave the second level alone, but if it is trapped with some valuables up there, maybe they will be confident they got the rest of what we left. And there is plenty more gold in the ghast chamber, if they find it.

Can Florian cast Detect Magic on the lot to see what items are magical? That might help determine what they bring back with them.

i would assume, especially with the tower unsecured, that any loot w leave in the tower will not be counted towards XP and will not be considered ours, so we need to be very smart about what we take back. Gems, scrolls, jewelry and art objects, weapons, magical items... And the 200# gold symbol of Baudh that we came for. That should be first. Then gold. Pretty sure that's the extent of what we will have to worry about carrying. Bandy will happily leave any expedition gear behind to make room for treasure on his pony.

Irving had his own food, so I'm assuming he's caring for himself. If you're feeding Florian, that's enough.

Florian is out of spells for today. If you wait for the morning, he can cast Detect Magic but then you set out with only Cure Light Wounds x2. Let me know.

That's correct. :) The treasure you left below and never carried up also doesn't count.

Thank you for tabulating your treasure! I checked your list and will add that you also picked up the following:
Bandy's Loot from Centions
- an electrum armband, with electrum accents and set with 3 Red Garnets. It is of exotic workmanship.
- a bronze and silver breastplate, adorned with a Diamond
- an Adamantium bracelet, with the inscription “Safeguard Against the Fiery Wolf” written in Common and set with 7 Mellochrysoss
- Two scimitars, a whip, and a longbow

Passage of Strength Loot
- Scroll: Ward vs Magic
- Scroll: Ward vs Undead (Markd also had one from the Church which was used, so this breaks even)
- Scroll: Clerical (Striking, True Seeing)
- 20gp (2lbs) - Bremen (from Sarcophagi)
- 200gp (20lbs, small sack) - Florian (from Sarcophagi)

Crooked Path Loot
- 130cp found on Kobolds
- 83cp from beetles nest
- 100gp from beetles nest
- 9lbs (90gp) of gold taken from the blinded ghouls accoutrements

Cardinal's Quarters
- abnormally thick book titled "A Lifetime of Service: Reflections of the Chief Justice of the Yoldessi Plains and the Wisdom of Baudhon."
- the open ledger on the desk
- the stacks of ledgers on the shelves

Spectre Loot
- Includes extensive library of Yoldessi Plains history

Then, there's loot that you left below (planning to come back for it or not):
- Engraved copper discs in cabinet in Passage of strength (300lbs copper)
- Engraved electrum discs in cabinet in Passage of strength (400lbs electrum)
- Three copper statues in the catecombs/tombs (1,600lbs copper total)
- Three golden face masks in sarcophagi (300lbs gold total)
- Three sets of ornate solid gold plate mail in sarcophagi (375lbs gold total)
- Mounds of gold pieces left in three sarcophagi (3,030gp left behind total)

I guessed at some of these weights, and made an initial list of what we should take (basically anything other than copper or the large gold piece piles.)
weight Item
1 - an electrum armband, with electrum accents and set with 3 Red Garnets. It is of exotic workmanship.
50 - a bronze and silver breastplate, adorned with a Diamond
1 - an Adamantium bracelet, with the inscription “Safeguard Against the Fiery Wolf” written in Common and set with 7 Mellochrysoss
1 - Golden dagger of Healing
5 - Warhammer of Baudh
1 - Scroll: Ward vs Magic
1 - Scroll: Ward vs Undead (Markd also had one from the Church which was used, so this breaks even)
1 - Scroll: Clerical (Striking, True Seeing)
2 - 20gp (2lbs) - Bremen (from Sarcophagi)
20 - 200gp (20lbs, small sack) - Florian (from Sarcophagi)
1 - blue azurite
1 - murky black pearl
1 - large pink rhodochrosite
1 - pristine white pearl
1 - radiant white moonstone
1 - platinum ring set with polished three bloodstones
1 - simple but elegant silver skull
1 - twisted minotaur horn arm spiral, set with 8 Chrysoberyls

5 - abnormally thick book titled "A Lifetime of Service: Reflections of the Chief Justice of the Yoldessi Plains and the Wisdom of Baudhon."
5 - short obsidian wand with an adamantine handle affixed to the end and a long bronze chime with a leather cord to suspend it
418 total weight. 200 relic on one animal. 200 on the other, and scatter the rest amongst us.
That gives us 410 gp plus the items' values to collect xp, assume we make it back

I put 1 lb for the scrolls and jewelry which should be high, however I dont know about some of the other items like statues

That leaves 1200 pounds of gold pieces, copper and electrum pieces locked in tower,
plus the stuff by the sarcophagi:
- Engraved copper discs in cabinet in Passage of strength (300lbs copper)

OOC: I like the idea of putting 200# each on the mounts and then keeping everyone else loaded light so we can travel faster. Better to make better time and make it back than be hauling everything we can at 1/4 speed and get ambushed three times on the way back.

I'm fine with not using up one of the CLW spells for a Detect Magic.

Bandy will try on the leather boots, after checking for spiders, to see if they fit him at all. He is still wearing the patchwork cloak. He'll port the two back to town himself and Florian can check to see if they are magical at that time.

Nice work. I'm going to adjust these four -
50 - platinum statue of hounds on the hunt, each with emerald eyes
25 - small bronze statuette of an imperious griffin
1 - figurine of an onyx horse with ruby eyes
3 - platinum figurine of a six-winged angel holding the golden scales of justice
1 - onyx carving of a wolf sniffing the ground
Change to:
3 - platinum statue of hounds on the hunt, each with emerald eyes
3 - small bronze statuette of an imperious griffin
3 - figurine of an onyx horse with ruby eyes
3 - platinum figurine of a six-winged angel holding the golden scales of justice
3 - onyx carving of a wolf sniffing the ground
(These were small figurines less than 12" tall which were on the Cardinal's shelves.)

That gives you back 65 pounds, which lets you pick up 65 of the 600lbs of gold in the base of the tower, only leaving 535lbs behind (and 650gp more to distribute on your return).

Unfortunately, the large, human-sized boots do not fit Bandy the hobbit. He looks a little silly, as the knee-high boots are quite thigh-high on him.

Bandy shrugs and tosses the boots at Markd. Or towards Markd? It's not really clear which one...

"'ere. YOU try 'em on."

OOC: You never know. If they'd shrunk to fit his size properly then you'd KNOW they were definitely magical...

The rough-stitched boots fit Markd passably but remain quite roomy. They don't really go with his armor, but style isn't such a factor for the stoic warrior. He wiggles his toes. Wearing his armor but without his pack, he walks casually around the room.

Bandy asks why he is running. Markd says he isn't. After a brief confusion, it seems that he was moving faster than he realized.

As you prepare to depart the next morning, Florian casts Detect Magic on the items before they are packed on the mounts. Magic items flagged with  below.

What are the NPCs carrying capacity?
Markd can get to 59.5 lbs, which will give him 90... He can lose his shield and any copper pieces he carried into the adventure.

I am assuming we will continue with the plan to load the sundial on one and the rest of those items on the other. (It should be 154# after adjusting those 65 lbs.
We can load 45 lbs of pc stuff on to the animal to keep us all at 90+? or what do we need to do?

Markd decides he should probably keep these boots on for a while and see if he can run away from creatures any better.

You calculated 410lbs of stuff on your list. Your two mounts can each carry 200 at normal speed. I was allowing you to "spread 10 pounds among the group" and still maintain your 3/4 movement speed as a reasonable amount without extra math.

If you want to be more specific than that, you need to calculate your own equipment lists and figure it out amongst yourselves. :)

Yep, sounds fair here as well.

And see? Look at all the stuff with magic in it that we wouldn't have known about before! ;)

Trying to divvy that up isn't going to be easy... especially not knowing what some of it does. Maybe Round-robin? Or try and figure out what some of it does?

The group packs its mounts, checks for magic items, locks and traps the trapdoors to the upper levels of the tower, the day spent in hard work. With the extra day, Florin is able to ensure Bandy is in good health for the trip as well. They decide to travel light to ensure that they can make good time on their return trip. They set out just after the dawn the next morning, spending the day in travel across the rolling plains of the Yoldessi horselords, priceless knowledge and relics in their packs. The day passes without incident, and as darkness falls across the land they cross the Frogmorton Ford. The group is welcomed by the guards and put up for the night in the guard tower's meager guest quarters, then sent on their way to Gaul with first light. By mid-day they are able to decide where to take their newfound gains.

that was a fast trip back! lets try out some of the magical stuff, like weapons and necklaces. Do we get to k ow the each item xp and nature of each item, or is that not available because Florian is an NPC?

After sparring with the scimitars and whips, Bremen tries on the cut-black gem to see if he can glean what it does.

He recommends that, along with the star, the group donate the magical tome to the church in honor of Neach, the dead NPC. Depending on the results of the scimitar, Bremen will offer his sword (+1vs undead) to Guaire - giving us a better portion of the new treasure.

maybe everyone pick a weapon they want to begin with, starting with Markd (as group leader)? Then go round robin? We could also pay to have things examined by a mage.

okay... but I don't think we would leave magical gear behind, especially something as light as a whip.. And I recall Bandy putting the dagger in his pack. We knew they were magical prior to leaving the tower, right?

Edit: okay. I see that now. I missed the section title saying we left it behind. :( hopefulky it is all still there when we get back.

I'm fine with Round Robin. I'll even go third.

Might behoove us to ID the magic items as best we can first? Or... might be more fun to NOT do that, just get what we get and figure it out after we've claimed it! I like the prospect of not knowing exactly what we're getting. Then we can decide to trade or not trade after we've figured them out.

Better than spending most of the coin we brought back on Identifying all of the magical items.

I was posting earlier from the car and just making the point that I asked you to be explicit for a reason. The scimitar, whip, and dagger are negligible weight and I'll allow them as an exception this time.

So, to answer your points above:
* You do not need to give a share to Guiare. He was paid for the week and undertook no adventuring activity.
* You DO need to give a full share to Florian (not a half-share).
* Idioms and such are more of a flavor I give to PCs, yes. This is also a big pile and that's a lot of work. I'll try to give you some rough power levels at least to help with division.
* It's a Baudhic Sun, not a star.
* You have two big magical tomes. Which one are you suggesting you give to the Church? Or both?

Markd wore the boots back to town, but nobody noticed him being any faster during that time, despite Bandy's earlier assertion.

Bremen tries out the scimitar and finds that it does seem handier than a normal weapon (+1 base bonus).
Bremen tries out the whip, cracking it in the air, but doesn't find anything immediately special.

Treasure division.
You have 10,210 in objects d'art. (Saleable for 25% of value now, or on commission in three months for 70-130%)
You have 1,975 in gems and 1,060 in coins, both of which act more readily as cash.

With five shares, you're going to owe Florian 2,649. NPCs are willing to take objects d'art at full value.

Florian requests:
- A platinum figurine of a six-wiged angel holding the golden scales of Justice (1500gp)
- a simple but elegant silver skull (700 GP)
- The remaining 449 is flexible, as long as there is some coin.

Magic items.

- Golden dagger of Healing (Markd) "Golden Blade of Baudhon." Unestimable. Imbued (divine). +1 bonus.
- Warhammer of Baudh (Bremen) 16,001xp. Imbued. +2, +3 vs undead.
- Florian's flail (Florian) "Flail of Gundrat the Luminescent." 64,000xp. Imbued. +2 bonus.
- iron-banded quarterstaff, worn from heavy use "Cathalon's Staff." 128,001xp. Imbued. +3 bonus.
- Cention Scimitar 4,001xp. Imbued. +1 bonus.
- Cention whip 4,001xp. Imbued. No bonus.
- cat-hilted dagger Unestimable. Created.

All Scrolls: Inestimable. Created.
- Scroll - Ward vs Magic
- Scroll - Ward vs Undead (Markd also had one from the Church which was used, so this breaks even)
- Scroll - Clerical: Striking, True Seeing
- Scroll - Clerical: Hold Person (2nd)
- Scroll - Clerical: Holy Word (7th), Wind Walk (7th), Cure Serious Wounds (4th), Bless (2nd), Purify Food and Drink (1st)
- Scroll - Clerical: Detect Evil (1st), Commune (5th), Quest (5th)

- small black cube, two inches on each side Inestimable. Created.
- royal scepter studded with gems "Scepter of Eadcen the Divine" Inestimable. Created.
- small bronze statuette of an imperious griffin Inestimable. Created.
- onyx carving of a wolf sniffing the ground Inestimable. Created.
- short obsidian wand with an adamantine handle affixed to the end Inestimable. Created.
- a long bronze chime with a leather cord to suspend it Inestimable. Created.

- brilliant-cut black gem on a delicate silver chain Inestimable. Created.
- breathtaking ruby necklace string with fillagreed gold chain 2,001xp. Imbued.
- a pair of knee-high boots of rough leather sized for a large human 4,001xp. Imbued.
- a patchwork beggar's cloak with a hood 2,001xp. Imbued.

- massive tome bound in leather with a golden latch "The Life-work of Cafreya the All-Seeing." 128,001xp. Imbued (Divine).
- abnormally thick book titled "A Lifetime of Service: Reflections of the Chief Justice of the Yoldessi Plains and the Wisdom of Baudhon." 16,001xp. Imbued (Divine).
[/ooc]

Florian agrees with the round robin approach. He'd like to keep either the flail, warhammer, or quarterstaff as befits his profession.
