At least, that's what I told my wife I wanted for Christmas when she asked. Haven't seen her since! :SAN:

To flog the horse again, I really think you'd "get" the mechanics of Risus quickly.
You obviously missed watching me struggle through understanding Fate...

On Risus, I scanned the rules, then realized the "site" was a pdf pirate. I now have the rules, and know that the companion exists. I have one of my holiday season games going and need to give my players good effort. Of course, I also have to read a few instructor manuals before mid-January, keep working my job, prepare for my next job, and add about 20,000 words to a book.

Based on your comments, I'm willing to give Risus a go. Not sure if it'll be right now, though of course my mind starts running down that path as soon as you said something...

I can recommend Risus - it's a beautifully simple set of rules. I mean, it fits on one side of A4, covers everything, and yet still contains fluff and padding :D

I would play, but I really have overcommitted to more games than I ought already :(

Well, we have a hard stop on the ST:Traveller game in a little over a month. :)

Don't tempt me.

I'm hoping to get down from "entirely too many" to merely "too many" :)

Too late.

We need to see what tibbius wants to run that would fit our play styles. I'm not much for gritty, dark, or horror; that was my first marriage. You and I have done a few games together, and tibbius runs a variety of genres. What are some options? Not sure if the lost monkey is still a thing, or if there's another genre to look at.

Małpo stoi na stołe.

The setting for that game soon will be submitted for commercial publication. It's been playtested a bit, but more experience with it would be great. I have a few weeks until my first draft is due.

Hmmm, you guys might have tempted me too...I really shouldn't...assuming it would be open to others.

If you haven't gamed with tibbius, then I suggest you jump in. He's as good as Tiglath and Spearmint.

I've tried a bunch of Tibius's games, so I hope that doesn't preclude me joining. :?

My current 2E Greyhawk game takes place a few months after the Wars...and I'm considering just going from there.
Also reading up on a region I know little about > The Yeomanry.
I was inspired after seeing a fantastic re-do of Darlene's map:

That looks like a great region to start/play in. A diverse area around it allows for lots of PC options.

I wish I had more time to game on this site, but I think the 2E Greyhawk stuff might be the best things I've ever seen published for AD&D, particularly Sargent's 'From the Ashes'...which I know is blasphemy to a bunch of old school fans, but seriously, it is some PHENOMENAL writing and a fantastically well-thought out setting, IMO....

The Greyhawk Wars (really a board game) write up, from I THINK Dave Cook? is a really well done little summary of the conflict as well. Anyhoo, just thought I'd throw that out there that anyone who hasn't had a chance to take a gander at the 2E 'From the Ashes' and the earlier 'Greyhawk City' box sets REALLY should. LOTS of great stuff!

Well said, and I agree > Sargent published some great writing and creativity for Greyhawk, regardless of what his naysayers think. As with anything published for D&D, if you don't like it, don't use it. A lot of gamers stick with one edition (like B/X or 1E) and never play anything else; same for Greyhawk > they never go beyond 576 CY. Which is fine if that's the type of game you prefer. A good DM can run a campaign for years with a couple of books > all it takes is the imagination to create the campaign and the drive to keep it going.
Right now, I'm reading through the Greyhawk Wars and From the Ashes...slow going, but very interesting.

I never read anything but the original Greyhawk, I had moved on to HarnWorld as my campaign setting by the 90's. But it sounds like it changed its tone some but I generally like darker and grittier.

I've always been interested in the world of Harn. How is it as a gaming system?

Good. A very detailed campaign setting, I haven't crossed any even close. I stated using HarnWorld with D&D in the late 80's and switched to HarnMaster in 92 for the rules. My longest run campaign was 22 or 23 years or real time. We still play once a month or so but I am a player at the moment and a friend is DMing. I highly recommend it. Thinking of running the setting modified a bit to work better with D&D on here in the future.
