Re: Quest #23 "Even The Jungle Wanted Them Dead"
Galanthas gasps at Monocar's reaction: "Easy, Monocar. We still have to know what's in here before we release another potential evil! Let's do things little by little. We still don't know what's in this room." The elf points at the wardrove: ""The magic aura came from inside that wardrove." He then approaches it and tries to somewhat pull from one of the knobs with the tip of his long sword...

Re: Quest #23 "Even The Jungle Wanted Them Dead"
"I suggest we focus first on the wardrobe, then on the door to the south, though that, perhaps, we could block in some way before dealing with the wardrobe. I do not wish a battle on two fronts if what is in the wardrobe is a hostile magical being and what is in the south is a candle-lighting ogre. Isn't the western tower collapsed? Could not that room give out onto the outside by way of a crumbled wall? In short, it could, indeed, have another exit of which we are unaware," says Chauncey, now turning with interest to the wardrobe. "I suppose there's nothing for it. Perhaps there's a magical robe inside? Or a portal to a magical land? Open away!"
Re: Quest #23 "Even The Jungle Wanted Them Dead"
Wes
"Indeed, Gilbert. Krystal has helped us a lot. "
Wes' smile changes to one of warmth. " You know, you really should keep that door closed. A secret hiding place for both of you isn't very secret if you keep it open now, is it?"
" Now, Gilbert, a ... professional... question I suppose it is. Does your god allow you you to see magic if you need to? Obad Hai gives this gift to me, though I've never used it before. I'd like to talk to you about this. And Chauncey,Avaala and Galanthas too."
As he talks to the cleric, Wes keeps the cracked door in his line of sight, waiting for it to close.

Luther shakes his head at Monocar. One thing at a time, Monocar. One thing at a time. But, since you're there, keep a sharp lookout, so nothing comes through that door to bother us.

Seeking Out The Jungle Priest
Sunday, the 14th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Hot, Humid, Damp, Dim
Krystal's voice sounds out again from the partially opened eastern door. "First you slam the front door on us and now this? You sure seem adamant about shutting the two of us inside of a room. Is there something that you don't want us to see you doing, or what?"
On the other side of the room, Galanthas takes a few steps inside the small communal bedroom, heading towards the wardrobe. As soon as he sets foot beyond the threshold of the doorway, several of the items scattered around the room rise from the floor and begin flying around the place. The elf is hit with a cup and a broken wine bottle before he even realizes what has happened. 3 dam While the stuff in the room is violently tossed about, the chairs start to move next, rising off of the floor slightly, apparently about to join in the maelstrom.
Treasure squeaks to Avaala, "oh dear, what is happening now?"

Avaala says, "Luther, please help him out of there!" He follows Luther to the door, in case he can be of assistance. "I'm afraid if he takes a hit to the head, he might not be able to find the door again."

Wes
Sounding slighty exasperated, Wes replies "Now why would we want to keep you from seeing anything? The plan was to keep both of you hidden because Jaxsen is in no condition to run away. You agreed with this. You've spent so much time trying to keep him alive, why would you endanger him now?" He half-turns as he hears the commotion that happens when Galanthas enters the other rooom.
"Listen! What's that?" Looking back again, Wes implores her. "Lady Krystal, please close the door!"
Throughout, Wes makes sure he keeps the doorway in his line of sight.

Re: Quest #23 "Even The Jungle Wanted Them Dead"
A look of astonished surprise crosses Chauncey's features upon seeing Galanthas attacked by a whirlwind of until recently inanimate objects. After the initial shock, he quickly gathers himself and says,"I propose that it is the entity hidden in the wardrobe who is causing this maelstrom - the objects in the room themselves, you'll recall, did not radiate magic on their own. One moment..." He strides over to just outside the door and, positioning himself in such a way that he can see the wardrobe, casts the opposite of Monocar's favorite spell, Reduce on one of its doors in an effort to pop it off and reveal what's inside.

Luther
Luther raises his shield, intending to block flying junk from hitting him in the head. He rushes in, Let's go, Galanthas! trying to block the worst of the stuff from hitting the already- wounded elf.

Re: Quest #23 "Even The Jungle Wanted Them Dead"
Galanthas backs off, startled at what just happened. He jumps backwards as if trying to avoid any subsequent hits from the objects in the rum room. Rubbing his forehead after the wine bottle hit him, he shouts: "I wouldn't ever have thought that wine could do that to your head!"

Despite the fact that they're being pelted, Luther laughs as they head for the door. Not much of a drinker, eh?

Brother Gilbert
If your deity allows you to learn such, you may be able to detect magics, with study and prayer or meditation.
I know not what Obad Hai requires for the learning of "spells," but I will do my best to help you. Meanwhile, we should continue to watch for odd events.
BG scans the room, sees the cluster**** at the other door and, well, <facepalm>.
Why did I volunteer for this circus? Oh, Pelor, provider of wisdom, please share some wisdom with my compatriots.

Re: Quest #23 "Even The Jungle Wanted Them Dead"
Seeking Out The Jungle Priest
Sunday, the 14th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Hot, Humid, Damp, Dim
Wes and Gilbert discuss gifts bestowed upon them from their respective higher powers as the druid pleads with the unseen Krystal to close the door in the name of safety. After a long and rather exaggerated sigh, the door slowly begins to close again. Gilbert watches the antics in the next room, wondering if any of his friends will survive this mission.
With a nice new cut and bruise on his head, Galanthas finds his way back outside of the room, with a little help from the chuckling Luther. As soon as the pair exits the dangerous room, the flying items cease their torrent, falling back to the ground harmlessly. Chauncey shows off his astute ability to think outside of the proverbial box, stepping into the doorway but not entering the clearly unused room. He informs everyone that the perpetrator behind the flying debris must be hiding inside the wardrobe, so he pulls out a pinch of iron powder and begins casting.
Since the target of his spell is just beyond his range, the wizard needs to take a few steps into the room initially, which causes some of the debris to rise again. Luckily, the spell is a quick one, and the mage is able to finish it and hop back into the main room before he is hit with anything himself. While the others look on in amazement, the door on the wardrobe shrinks to about half of its normal size and falls from its hinges, adding to the debris on the strewn floor. No horrible monster is seen inside the now ruined cabinet, but there are 2 old ceremonial priests robes hanging from hooks, along with what appears to be a finely made, gold colored, braided rope that might be used as a waist cinch of some kind, coiled up and hanging from a third hook.

Luther readies himself for a charge, but stops when he sees the cabinet is un-occupied. So, we've got an invisible thing? or is it just a trap of some kind?

Re: Quest #23 "Even The Jungle Wanted Them Dead"
“You See?! I told y... ehh... hmmm,” says Chauncey when the contents of the wardrobe are revealed. “No hidden perpetrator? Very well. You know, of course, what that implies? Yes, magical rope! Or robe, as the case may be. Merely a letter’s difference. Now, let’s see here...” He then conducts a few deft hand movements and speaks a phrase before passing a hand before his eyes. Somewhat astonishingly, his pupils and irises disappear, as do the whites, leaving his eyes only fathomless pools of blackness punctuated in each center by tiny, points of light that look like nothing if not cold stars.
If any of the party show signs of alarm, he merely says “I use the Oton-Mably method. I find it gives better readings.” He gazes at the now revealed articles to see which of them radiates the magic they had previously noted.

Once the door has finally closed, Wes moves closer to the rest of the party, taking care to keep an eye on the door as he goes.
Standing a few yards away, he beckons the wizard-magic wielding members of the party over to him.
"Gentlemen, I need your quick opinion on a matter of magic..."
