...the uneasy feel of Veng River as it winds its way between Furyondy and the Shield Lands?
This one probably sounds the most intriguing to me, but I will be happy starting in any of those areas.
That's one vote for the Shield Lands > thanks Dave.

So.. which edition are we going to play? And which classes/races are permitted?
Heavily leaning toward 2nd Edition AD&D, and any classes/races in that edition are permitted...at least for now.
I think it would be prudent to know which area we will be focusing on before deciding on a race. Plus, I'm kinda old-fashioned...and OLD

...and like to make my die rolls before deciding on a class/race. But that's just me.

Any of those areas sound good to me. The mountains sound kinda cool.
Is that a vote for the Griff Mtns?

So long as I can play a dwarf I'm all good.
Ed...your character will be a Dwarf. So saith the DM!
And I know you are a fan of 2E like myself.

I'll put my vote with this one as well. But I don't have strong opinions and it all sounds good to me.
That's two votes for the Shield Lands.
I appreciate the excitement folks! That gets
ME excited!! Probably won't be happening until late December/early 2022. I am about done with another game and then I can focus more heavily on this one. Dave, should I go ahead and create a forum for OOC discussion and character planning?

Yes, count my vote for the mountains just to be different. I tend towards/away from certain races/classes but am more flexible then Ed.

2e is my edition as well!
I already have an idea for a very different pc.

Shield Lands or Griff Mtns' Barbarians?
I have no preference except to venture in something more thematic. Shield Lands are fine, do we get to climb White Plume volcano?
Perhaps all being members of the same rogue gang tasked with expanding their influence or fur traders exploring the upper river wilderness.

I think once I finally move and can unpack all of my books I would like to play D&D 1E or learn how to be a DM.

I know nothing about Grayhawk, but count me as an interested 2e player (Ah, that takes me back!) if you need some more fodder.

I am flexible just don't make me play a halfling. Though I do prefer to play a dwarf or gnome those are my "favored" races to play. Save for in 5e I like being a Dragonborn

watch out I might use a breath weapon on you smarty pants

Trust me this guy is the only that made a male paladin that had been polymorphed into a female, so when he says different it will be so!

Well, we're not going to get too crazy > we're not playing 3.5 or Pathfinder or 5E where just about anything goes!
No polymorphed dragons or ex-lovers or demons in disguise.
Like the group of middle schoolers we have where I work where one of them is a Raccoon and one wanted to be a meatball...yes, you read that correctly. And the DM went along with it! The teacher and I just sat back and watched and laughed...a lot.

Oh...is White Plume Mountain somewhere on the map? Hmmm...I didn't know that.
I'm definitely leaning toward the Shield Lands areas of the grand ol' map.
Hey, the old dadgum group can be dwarves...or gnomes...or heaven forbid, halflings!

The best way to learn to be a DM is to play under some good DMs, and then ask their advice when you start running your own games. There are lots of good DMs here, so you have lots of options.

I did some Google search for Shield Lands on the Greyhawk wiki as I have not really played much in Greyhawk settings just to get a feel of what might be assumed as known history and geo-politics.

I agree, I think a big part of the reason why I want to learn how to DM is to enjoy the whole experience of TTRPG's. And also give some of the other DM's a break.

Oh I believe that! Some of the DM's I got to play with make running a campaign look so simple. I don't know how they can keep it all together.

This leads me to another question: Pre-Greyhawk Wars or Post-Greyhawk Wars?
Or current year 591 CY?

I am familiar with the original 1980 Greyhawk, not sure what that is. Anything is fine with me just letting you know what I am familiar with.
