Hex fires off a fireball poised to detonate in the middle of squares of 11, 12, 5 and 6, hoping the 40’ radius will catch both those on the cliff (however tall that is) and those two on the ground, but if in doubt the ground ones for sure.

Raffi whispers he will take out the nearest archer (1) and then move along the line, and he moves towards that archer invisibly and doing his best to also keep within cover, but not so much as it will slow his move down. He will then try and climb the cliff side (if it’s not massively tall)

Androgost sees the others behind him squaring off bravely against their opponents. With the new threat of the ballista revealed, he advances upon it with righteous fury! He will charge if need be to prevent if from firing.

Long Sword: [1d20+4]=12+4=16 SM:[1d8+3]=3+3=6 L: [1d12+3]=1+3=4
Long Sword: [1d20+4]=2+4=6 SM:[1d8+3]=7+3=10 L: [1d12+3]=8+3=11

please remove the 2nd attack if needed to catch up with the 3/2 attacks or any movement penalty

Siouxsie

Focusing on the archers 1-4, I will cast Entangle to snare as many as I can in order to hinder or nullify their attacks.

Sorry guys, I would have cast it just behind the ballistae to grab it and those reinforcing either side as a priority but with Nah and Andro charging that way, I don't want to snare or hinder them too.

I think entangle on the archers makes sense - we have no way to get to them at the moment. Entangle is a good idea!

Frannie desperately swings her hammer yet again, but her would distracts her and she goes wide again.

Boff unsheathes his sword and runs to Frannie's aid, attempting to attack hobgoblin #1If he gets there this round.

Attack [1d20+1]=4+1=5 Damage [1d7+1]=3+1=4 Frannie

Longsword Attack [1d20+3]=19+3=22 Damage Lg [1d12+3]=6+3=9 M [1d8+3]=1+3=4 boff
Large damage [1d12+3]=4+3=7 Damage vs Large

I am seeing a THAC0 of 12 (not 11). As a 6th level fighter your base THAC0 is 16, +2 weapon and 18/94 Str is +2 -> This is a 16-2-2 = 12. Looks like all your THAC0s on your character sheet have a mystery +1 bonus except your longbow and crossbow. Please recalculate and let me know.

In the Jotens - Hobgoblin Combat
Waterday, 12th day of Planting, 597
7th day since leaving Loftwick

Qleceec (AC 1, HP 37/63)
Androgost (AC -6, HP 38/65, Armor 25/26)
Nah Olos (AC 4, HP 23/53)
Siouxsie (AC 2 [1], HP 32/48)
Garrant (AC 8 [0/1/2], HP 31/50)
Hex (AC 0, HP 22/27, Armor 8/8)
Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21, Armor 8/8)
Boff (AC 5, HP 32/61)
Frannie (AC 4, HP 13/26)

Frannie continues to attack R1, but is does not manage to land a successful blow.

Boff moves 30' (less than 1/2 his move) and runs R1 through with his longsword, dropping the Hobgoblin.

Raffi covers about 50' on the ground, and then starts climbing. Given that is a rough surface with many projections, but slightly slippery from the light rain all day. The full round of climbing is 12'/minute. This will get Raffi about 5-6' up the 15' tall cliff.

Correcting a small typo, the fireball radius is 20' not 40'.

Hex launched a fireball at the height of cliff, so that the explosion can hit both targets on the cliff and on the ground. Please note the target location is 120' from Hex which is technically outside the max vision of 100-110' feet, but I will give it you. The fireball kills all 5 hobgoblins (O5, O6, R11, R12, R13). Please mark off the two charges.

Garrant casts Hold Person capturing both R2 and R3.

Siouxsie casts Entangle capturing B1, B2, B3, B4 and a Lt not on the board. (Shown as orange box.)

Nah Olos moves up about 55' and swings and Hobgoblin managed to just avoid the killing blow from the Half-orc.

Androgost charges straight for the point of the ballista. The wagons are a tight fit through, but he still has time to kill one of the four hobgoblin crewmen. The question is will that be enough!

Qleceec drops her bow and engages R4 with her sword. The hobgoblin is wounded, but not dead.

Red 4 being wounded as he is and his friend killed decides to retreat. This gives a free attack to Qleceec.

Red 14, having seen his friends blown up in the fireball retreats off the map.

The ballista crew has really three choices target Siouxsie, fight Androgost in HTH or retreat. They do not decide to retreat. They decide to engage Androgost. (The fools) They draw their longswords and engage. They cannot penetrate his armor.

R7 and R8 (which moves up) both engage with Nah Olos hitting him with a single blow for 6 points of damage.

R9 and R10 move around the outside of the wagon to engage with Siouxsie. They do not get to attack this round.

O1, O2 and O3 continue to try and pepper Qleceec with arrows. (Which per the house rule is allowed since the combatant is to the rear.) Two arrows hit one critically. The total damage is 8 points.

O4 fires at Siouxsie before the other forces engage. None of the arrows hit, but the Barkskin is the difference on one of them.

The party gets to attack again (and Qleceec get the parting shot and then a full action).

Hex will cast Alter Self, and turn himself into a 5 foot sylph, holding the wand still. He will fly up out of the treeline and head towards the hilltop, climbing as high as he can in the first round of flight straight up. If he can he will try to fly where the sun is behind him in the archers eyeline.

He will try to retain that spell.
15 or less is successfully retained.

Raffi continues to climb the cliff side, attempting to make it up to the top.

Don’t forget the Ranger’s +1 damage bonus per level against giant classed creatures, which includes hobgoblins. I meant to write diameter but put radius in the post above. Apologies.

Casting Charm Person upon one of the hobgoblins, I put on my best 'damsel in distress' voice and say in hobgoblin "Oh, my hero. Please save me from these fiendish comrades of yours."

Androgost will continue to melee. If an opening allows, he will kick the ballista to disarm it or prevent it from being quickly fired.

Long Sword: [1d20+4]=8+4=12 SM:[1d8+3]=1+3=4 L: [1d12+3]=1+3=4

Garrant moves 5 squares SE, keeping his front facing towards those pesky archers on the south cliff.
