Daisy
Daisy smiles at Marge. We found out a few things, sugar. We're plannin on going back in a couple of days to take them down. Ah'm afraid your trips to the river are gonna have to wait a few more days. Sorry about thet. Ah already used up all mah Graces for today, but Ah promse Ah'll summon water for our barrels tomorrow.

After the conversation with Marge is done, Daisy will wander through the town, looking for people with small injuries that she can take care of using her First Aid kit.

Dexter Broadleaf

Figuring that the fishermen are 'pulling his leg' and seeing that as a kind of acceptance, Dexter plays along. He solemnly nods his head and closes his eyes for a slow 3 count before opening them again.

Marge only looks a little relieved to hear that Daisy can help, but not right now.

A few of the common townsfolk are in need of aid, and they seem very grateful for any help. After cleaning and dressing a bad burn wound, one of them thanks the halfling profusely.

“Thank ya, ma’am. That does feel much better, now. Say, what higher power do you pray to? I don’t recognize yer garb.”

Just as the crafty thief suspected, he smells something horribly fishy once he closes his eyes.

When he opens them again, one of the fishermen is holding a dead baby squid directly in front of his face. Ready for the guys shenanigans, Dexter plays along that he was frightened and not just disgusted by the joke. After a good laugh, that he joins in on, the men do seem to accept their tiny angler friend a little more.

“Can you show us your idea again on those outriggers you were telling us about? Some of us are a little hesitant to go out into the deeper water, but it beats the hells out of starvin here.”

Andronichishche secluded himself the day after his return from minotaur island in his rented hut, deeply engrossed in studying the notes he had written on the new clerical spell occupying his mind of late. The time had come for experimentation, and although he was certain of the theoretical basis for the spell he still needed to discover the correct manner of speech to properly invoke the spell's magic.

If those sharing his hut saw him that day he could have easily been mistaken for practicing a speech to an invisible audience. Instead of clear and concise oration however, his vocal tone, volume, pitch, and inflection seemed to change by the minute. The spectacle would certainly have looked disconcerting ... and sounded worse. A strange staccato of different voices with seemingly no unifying theme. To Andron, however, he was carefully and systematically adjusting the parameters of his voice to find the perfect combination that would yield the same power he felt in the caves; sufficient he hoped to invoke the magic in conjunction with an evocation to his god Rao.

It was late into the evening when finally completed his series of tests and settled upon the particular vocal pattern he felt was correct. The only thing left was to verify the results of his empirical research on suitable subjects, and given the late hour he concluded the likeliest place to be the Treehouse Tavern ...

Dexter Broadleaf

Dexter says, "Sure, let's take a look at what you have here..." then the small boat-wright goes over the ideas of outriggers and catamarans again, showing them the vastly superior stability that both offer over a regular longboat. He goes over what they need and how to incorporate the designs into the craft that they already have. For the catamarans he asks about pairs of fishermen that are both willing to work together as well as permanently connect their boats, so as not to have to build from the ground up.

Once he is sure they have the right idea, he picks out the best pupils and starts making the modifications on their boats first. The fishermen that weren't as competent about the ideas are brought in to work on the modifications, learning the rest as they build both those boats and their own, so that everyone understands how they are built and why they work better.

Dexter makes the men put in a long day, trying to get at least three boats modified. But he is never the 'boss', as he works alongside them the whole time, teaching them the techniques handed down through his family to make the boats as solid as they can be, given the materials at hand.

At the end of the day, he only asks, "I can find the cook fires again, but who's buying me a beer?"
"There is no spoon."

The eclectic group of gathered fishermen do seem interested in the ideas that Dexter has to offer them, paying close attention to his instructions, for the most part. After a hard days work of trial and error, finding the correct flotation factors for his awkward additions to their crafts, Dexter is happy to see two of their vessels now outfitted to fish in the rough, deeper waters.

When he jokes about buying him a grog, the fishermen hang their heads in shame.

“We’d all love ta buy ya one, Dex! Problem is, we’re all broke as a joke. Have been for weeks. No fish equals no coin, ya get me? But now, with your weird modifications, we might be able to change that. Say, you wanna go out tomorrow mornin for our nogrul voyage? We could always use another pair of hands at the nets!”

Dexter Broadleaf

Dexter just shrugs off the apology. "Not to worry," he says cheerfully. "You're right. We're going to get nets into the deeper water and bring back enough fish to feed the town and maybe enough to dry and sell to the good captain!"

"Truth to tell," he adds. "My life has been building boats and such. Not so much using them. But if all you need are some willing hands, I'd love to learn another trade! What time in the morning?"

Dex takes his leave, and then finds his way to the Tree House for an evening drink and a bite to eat.

Maag

Maag splashes ashore with his three large sacks of assorted fruit. His first destination is the firepit, where he drops off the contents of two sacks and half the contents of the third. "Der yer go fellas! I've got no idea 'ow yer cook dem, but dey are all yours."

With that done he wanders off in the direction of the common houses, shouting loudly.

"OY! Felicity! Where are yer darlin'? Ol' Maag is back in town! Come an' see wot I've got in my sack for yer!"

The fire cooks appear quite impressed with this latest donation of highly sought after vitamins and minerals. They offer Maag the choicest portion of seal calf kebab.

The elderly, withered human female named Felicity greets her ol’ mate Maag in between the common houses where she is currently washing up some strange looking root-like tuber. “Oooiii! Come on over here darlin, an let the ol’ girl ave a look! She’s always willing ta elp a fren drain is’ sack for im’.”

Darklin

So the second day in Beachtown, Darklin is going to spend learning the sleep spell from Andron. We will study in My tent and I will copy the spell into my book. Anyone that comes to meet for the tactical planning I will tell to come back tomorrow. I will then go back to studying after the 2 minute break to tell them. I will work with Andron for any hints and easy ways to remember the spell. I will give Andron my book to copy any spell he wants while I study his.

Spell Knowledge Check [1d100] = 30
My learn spell % is 75% so I can learn the spell of Sleep.

Sorry Dexter and Daisy I really need to spend today learning this sleep spell for our attack on the pirates. If it is OK we can meet tomorrow at the same time. Noon to start with out planning. I will get started at first light tomorrow. Thank You both. Now back to study.

Dexter won't be coming by to visit Darklin. He'll be out with the fishermen all day

Dexter Broadleaf

After finishing his supper at the Treehouse, Dexter turns in early. He plans for a dawn trip out on the water.

Andronichishche meets with Darklin early in the morning to begin the exacting process for translating and copying new spells into their spellbooks. He peruses Darklin's catalog of magic and selects the Mending spell. "I've found myself recently in need of a good tailor.", he says, poking at several small holes in his overcoat. Before Darklin can ask questions Andron would prefer not to answer ... purely out of embarrassment ... he sets himself to interpreting the esoteric symbols. Just when he's about to give up in pure frustration over the idiosyncrasies of Celenese script, the pieces of the whole fall into place and Andron is able to transcribe the spell into his own book late into the evening.

Day #2 in beachtown. Darklin is up early to take advantage of another day of study with Andron before he sets out on another adventure. He awaits Andron in his tent tinkering with the Studded Leather armor and getting the adjustments on his short swords set where he wants them in the small of his back.
