Thanks for the welcome
Hope I can do the character justice.
You'll do fine. The original player had to drop out very early so there's not much personality to him yet. Whatever you do, we'll pretend he was always that way. It's like the soap operas...
"The role of Spicoli will now be played by mavikfelna" and it will be as if it were always so.

I don't know your previous experience with Traveller but here we have an absolute twist on a game usually defined by PC's stats and skills. Our stats are (by any human standards) now quite possibly "off the charts" while our skills are not only morphable but (if not infinite) then nearly practically so. We also have psionic skills fit to embarrass the Zhodani and also own "way beyond expectation" Tech...
The sheer scale of the gameplay is the "leveller" though because we're (kinda) managing the Empire at the strategic level (actually both the real one and also a "dormant/shadow" one accessed via gates).
It's perhaps quite a lot to get your head around so please do feel free to ask for help!

Will? Ah. I see. I'll fix that typo.

Started playing in '79 with the LBB, shortly after starting to play in general with AD&D. Stopped sometime in the late '80 around when MegaTraveller came out. Sort of collected the basic books of all the variations since but haven't played again till about 4 months ago. Now I'm in an MgT 2e game on Monday, and a GURPS game every other Friday. And Terry invited me to the Singularity game. So I've jumped in with both feet.
I used to be a big forum role-player on the AOL boards in the '90s so the format here isn't a problem. Mostly it's just taking me forever to read the previous posts and get a hold what's going on here. It sounds like quite the game with mega tech and lots of money so I'm feeling a bit out of depth there. Not used to playing with access to tech better than around TL13 and psionics I think I only ever had with 1 character. Haven't even looked at those rules in 2e yet.

Sounds like you're fully qualified!
Oddly enough the mechanics seem to apply less while we're operating at this "strategic" level so do feel free to plunge in!

Once the scene with the Zhodoni Ambassador wraps up and you are prepared to depart on your new missions. I’ll bring him onto the scene. It won’t be long now.

Everyone welcome Mavikfelna. He will be assuming the role of Spicoli and trying to get a grasp of anything that this group has been doing for the last year. Help him out as he becomes more familiar with playing in this style and with the game and his new-to-him character.
Welcome aboard :D :D :D
Glad to have more victims for the game!

I’m reading the section of the Singularity Sourcebook dealing with the express boat network and they provided a metric that will be of use to y’all. Because of astrographic topography, the average message travel time is 2.6 parsecs a week. That gives you almost twice the estimated time I had quoted. I’ll go see what I said and update it.
Here are the times I’d quoted.
"Twenty weeks via Express Boat from Captial to Dilub Rou, the first stop in the Corridor Sector," Roscoe said promptly. "They are like the old Pony Express. One arrives, transmits the data to the tender, and another one heads off once the data is moved to the new ship and any additions and subtractions are made. That process takes maybe an hour, so no great impact on the schedule. Then the original boat heads back the way it came when new data is ready, and the ship has been prepared. That is exactly five months. Impressive. The news would get to Vincennes after 32 weeks, but news would be everywhere by then and spreading like wildfire."
It would become 31 weeks to Dilub Rou and 49 weeks to Vincennes. You have 7.75 months to secure Corridor.

That said, it seems likely that someone would send a J6 Fleet Courier to inform Ciencia. Whether they would be ordered to keep the news to themselves (likely) and whether they might let it slip to someone for various reasons (also at least somewhat likely) is another matter. A ship like that could reach corridor sector in just over 3 months. Just over 5 months to Vincennes and her Imperial Warrant would be void.
