Thena
After picking up her reward of 200gp, Thena makes her way to the church of Tempus and leaves her brother both 150gp of the take. Well earned and will find its use in buttressing the word of Tempus in the community. She says to brother Lucente. Continuing on: Has Jacinthe come to a decision?
With business complete with the church she makes her way to the docks.
OCC: Sheet updated with 50gp.

Brother Lucente thanks Thena for the donation and gives her his letter or recommendation to send back to Enslore. He also gives her a letter of introduction to the high priest of the Temple of Tempus in Lionsgate. He explains he hasn't actually met the high priest yet as the man is new to the position. Jacinthe appears her meager belonging packed, "Sister Thena, I am very grateful you chose me to assist you. I will do my best to live up to your faith in me." The two return together to the compound.

Thena
Whilst identifying their findings: Mediphera, thank you for helping us with this, we are very appreciative. If there is anything among these items that you find of interest please let us know.... I wanted to ask, we have a locked chest that also appears to emanate magic. A majick traps is suspected, could you have a look?

Mave
Mave listens to the conversation with Mediphera and thinks of an idea if the witch is unable to unlock the chest. She thought back to her shadier days in the taverns and dives of the docks. Trying to remember some of her more unsavory companions might still be about.

“If magic was present, it moved under the skin of the world, beneath the ability of human eyes to catch sight of it.” ~ Gregory Maguire, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister
Mediphera answers Thena, "Ask a vagary if they know about traps and you will get a thousand different answers, only half of which are true. Unfortunately, I have little experience with traps or other roguish delights. My magic is forthright, as am I. I'm sorry but I cannot help you with this problem." She shakes her head no, causing her earrings to give a delicate sound as they move like small chimes in the wind.
Malaguerre, Sigismund and a total of 7 young apprentices enter the dining room. Sigismund announces, "Master Wizard Malaguerre, scourge of the Serpent Lands, holder of the C'Miste Scepter and wielder of the Stave of Thunder has agreed to discern the magicks of 10 items of your choice as a reward for your heroism in his homeland. Bring forth the items and he and his trainees," clearing his throat, "And I, will wave away the shadows that hide their natures." Each of the items are laid on the now cleared table before them and one by one each examines them with Malaguerre going last. The then form a circle and whispers emanate from that circle for roughly twenty minutes before they stop and Malaguerre moves to the first item.
Holding the curved dagger with the head of a wolf, he runs a slim gnarled finger over the edge of the blade. "This is an uncommon blade, I cannot see its history other than it was forged far north of here. It is called a Wolves' Bane Silver Dagger. Against normal foes it will strike truer and do more damage but it is also a lycanthrope bane weapon. It will do additional damage against any lycanthrope but also even more damage against werewolves."
Wolves Bane Silver Dagger +1 hit/damage against normal foes. Does 1d4 additional damage against a lycanthrope and 1d8 additional against a werewolf.
Moving to the next item, the two objects the size of Thena's fists. "Likewise these items were enchanted far to the north. If two persons each have one of these, they can communicate with their minds, without having to speak. It will likely work over great distances."
Telepathic Touchstones
He next moves to the Fire Medallion, "Ah this will provide against fires of all manner, though it doesn't always offer complete protection."
Grants the wearer a +2 saving throw bonus against fires. A failed save will still only do half damage.
Malaguerre picks up the fur cloak and whirls it about, "This too was enchanted in the north. It is a Blessed Bearskin Cloak bestowing strength and protection upon the wearer."
Imbued Bearskin Cloak - Gives +1 Strength and +1 Protection (Armor Class/Saves) to wearer.
He doesn't touch the next cloak merely frowning and looking down at it. "This is a witchcloak called the Cloak of Sighs worn by the witch Suspiro until her death. It enhances the wisdom of its wearer and confers a limited protection against spells of Enchanters."
Cloak of Sighs - Wearer gains +1 Wisdom and +1 bonus to saving throws vs. spells of the Enchantment/Charm school.
The next item he also doesn't touch, "This is a steel amulet blessed with the ability to entrance certain low-intelligence individuals."
Amulet of Laments - Once per day, the wearer may cast Charm Person or Monster. Usuable only by priest classes.
The wizard smiles widely at the next item holding it up and watching the light play within its crystals, "This is useful against Illusionists and all things hidden."
Medallion of Seeing - Once per day it will allow the viewer who looks through the crystal and holding it with both hands to their eye, to recognize any illusion for what it is. It also allows the viewer to see anything that is invisible or hidden. It will function for one hour and then be unusable for 24 hours.
He moves next to the satchel, "A most useful item. It makes things put into it much lighter. If you have no use for it, I'd pay you a good price."
Satchel of Holding - Anything nonliving item placed within the satchel (with holding capacity up to 250 lbs) will weigh only 15 lbs.
Malaguerre then holds the golden ring in one hand, "A useful but trivial device. It grants the wearer the Cantrip spell thrice a day."
Grants the wearer the use of the Cantrip spell up to three times per day. Can be used by any class.
Finally he moves to the longsword wielded by the northern commander. "This is really an interesting blade. It is named Bardagi and acts like a hunting dog to find the last blood it has tasted."
Bardagi - This +1 longsword recognizes the last foe it cut and will swing in their direction, allowing them to be hunted/tracked regardless of distance.
Malaguerre then bows, "I hope you find this information useful."

Bryne
The wolf dagger, bearskin cloak, satchel and/or the longs sword Bardagi all seem good fits for Bryne.

Hearing Mediphera's response to Thena, Nis chimes in. I have recently become strong enough to perform the ritual for detecting traps. I can prepare it for tomorrow and perhaps be of assistance regarding the chest.
When the items are presented, Nis watches with interest.
She is most interested in the Cloak of Sighs[/color]

Thena
Personally thanks Malaguerre and Sigismund: Malaguerre, Sigismund, thank you for these services. I am humbled by your skill and knowledge of the arcane. She nods to each of the 7 young apprentices as well.
Nis, if you have knowledge in this area please try... eferring to the trapped chest.
Turning to her comrades in general: I would like to have the northern commanders bear skin cloak, I may also find use in the Amulet of Laments.

Malaguerre, Sigismund and the 7 dwar...er I mean apprentices all bow in succession from Malaguerre on down to the last apprentice. Malaguerre looks to the Lord and Lady also offering a bow, "Remember friends, if there are items you do not wish to keep, let me know and I will purchase them for a fair price."
They then take their leave and each of you think upon how you wish to divide the items and coin.

“At some point, Jesper realized Kaz was gone.
"Not one for goodbyes, is he?" he muttered.
"He doesn't say goodbye," Inej said. She kept her eyes on the lights of the canal. Somewhere in the garden, a night bird began to sing. "He just lets go.”
~ Leigh Bardugo, Crooked Kingdom
The next day comes and finds Kade and Ruskin as they gather their belongings and give warm goodbyes to their Commander and Guardian Vari. An even warmer goodbye is given Athan by Morwen as she and Liviel join the two rangers. The four mount up as do four of the Landing's finest guards who join them to escort them to the edge of the Gallowhawk lands.
The day is rather warm though a cool breeze blows off the ocean into the port. A few matters left to settle before the group depart for the city of Lionsgate. There is matter of distributing their magical items, and Nis wished to pick out some armor for her and perhaps De'Athyra. Abaessa and even Mediphera both have armors though it has been many years since the witch had worn hers.
There is also the matter of the trapped chest that you mean to deal with before the voyage.
If you need any further supplies feel free to spend your coin for whatever you might need. Anything that is in the Player's Handbook and then some would be available in the Landing. As a port city frequently trading ships stop by so you can likely find the occasional odd item beyond what is the main book. Just let me know if you are looking for something particular.

The next morning Nis approaches the others regarding the chest. When they are ready she intones her Divination, fingers oustretched and arms weaving an intricate pattern in the air above the object. Her eyes flicker with a greenish light, like the tiny motes of dandelion seeds scattering in the wind...
Leig leis an solas naomh gluasadach
Dannsa agus deàrrsadh ron t-sealladh agam
Agus stiùir ar làmh gus am faigh sinn sin
A 'seachnadh na mealladh an fheadhainn aingidh.

Nis casts
Find Traps and examines the chest closely.
Works on both mechanical and magical traps.
Will reveal the type and what conditions trigger it.
If a magical glyph is present it may reveal the type of glyph

Mave
Mave watches the elf weave her magic with a sense of awe. Magic was beyond her simple capabilities and she never ceased to find those with such skills fascinating. Watching with anticipation, though she takes several steps back lest something untoward occur. Could magic set it off, she wonders?
Rev, looking through the pdf you sent me. Seems like there is some stuff there, Mave needs to buy.

Nis uses her magical acuity to give her insight to the trapped chest. She can see it is a mechanical trap with a spring-loaded needle that will release if the proper key is not used to open it. Likely the needle is poisoned but she cannot fully determine that. Might be a thief of some sort could attempt to disable the trap and open the lock.

Can she tell where the needle will come from? If so, maybe they could protect that area and spring the trap intentionally...

Likely it could be set off easily enough. The apparatus above the lock chamber appears to be a false plate and perhaps the proper key has a protrusion that disables the trap when used. Anything else would set it off. If it could be manipulated from afar, it could be set off without the user being hit most likely.

Nis covers the area where the poison needle would come from with a bunched cloth and a heavy book to hold it in place. She then uses a cantrip to try to ratthe the mechanism enough to trigger the trap safely.
Teckle-Teckle ribe beag.
Rattle, Chatter, wiggly, tap.

Niserie's plan works wonderfully! The trap is sprung and the needle shoots harmlessly into the bunched cloth and its tip is embedded in the book's cover. Now there is only the matter of someone to pick the lock or for someone impatient to take their weapon to bear on the chest (risking damaging whatever it contains).
