We need to stop the vehicle more than kill the pilot. Is a HEAP in the tailpipe more or less likely to achieve that than aiming at the cockpit?

BTW, ballsy guys, doing a wing-walking act on an interceptor :D

Re: RAM Grenades

You'll know a frag hit from HE's bit of a reach/lottery and a HEAP round surely won't penetrate a space craft hull.

However, a RAM grenade at close range placed into something vital (a thruster plate being an example) might do the job. Handily, as per the awkward angle on the pilot, you have a good target picture on the rear aspect of the fighter. ;)

And .. yes these guys are optimists!

Take the target you've the best chance of hitting.

Jess aims for the thrust-plate.

[2d6]=5 +1 Dex, bid for +2 Missile Launcher

Edit:

Charlie, volley'v HE at the cockpit, take out the pilot.

Freya

Dog looks blankly at Freya for a moment and then replies “Yes, Ma'am”.

As Charlie whinges “But she's a ruddy civvy!”

Dog takes advantage of the hangar's invaders being suppressed, winds up his arm and leans out of the hatch as Charlie hoses the hangar floor giving him cover.

(OOC: “And here comes the throw and what a throw” (with a nod to Meatloaf and Phil Rizzuto).

Freya Leadership Test:
Roll(2d6)+1: 6,6,+1 Total:13!!!

Dog pitches his “homewrecker”:
Roll(2d6)+0: 3,4,+0 Total:7 (vs. literally the back end of a bus) Hit!
Result: see below).

Jess

Jess realises her ribs really are still broken as she absorbs the recoil from her grenade launcher. She sees her grenade slam into the rear of the light fighter and detonate near the thruster plates. A well pitched hand grenade arcs in from the barracks side catwalk and adds to the damage. Trailing smoke and under a barrage of HE grenades the fighter lurches forwards off the ramp and rather than launching plummets groundwards and out of sight. Figures are thrown from or slide messily off its “wings” onto the launch pad as it does so.

Voss and Caxton lumber onto the catwalk with their nearly man portable “Fifty” and gratefully rest it on the guard rail where it looks impressive enough to precipitate the surrender of those few ex-pirates in cover under the nose of the gunship.

Good Throw Dog. Are there any more about? And how did that bunch get in? They weren't here when I left earlier and we had people in the corridor outside
Freya heads over to her pinnace and confirms that it is undamaged.

The pinnace in this hanger the not Freya's, it's the one the company got from the pirates, the one that we've been fixing. Her ship, from The Spinward Star, is up in the baron's hanger.

Then I guess it's this pinnace that I've been working on for the past day and a half then as this is the hanger I've been in while working on it.

Where is the Baron's hanger? That sort of implies (a) we have access and (b) I been from there to here.

The only ship that I believe that everyone has been working on to fix (with the parts we bought from town) in the last few days is the pirate's gunship in this hanger. I didn't realise that the launch from The Spinward Star needed any work done to it. We don't have access to the baron's hanger, it's up top.

A standard pinnace works out at about 4 hours maintenance/week or 1/2 hour per day.

OOC:

As above the launch in the hangar is the gunship "liberated" from the pirates (which needed work to its power plant/drive linkage).

Freya's (Mertactor) launch is docked to the top/penthouse deck on the Mansion roof. The Baron's staff have been tending to its technical needs and Freya has (escorted) access to it since it is in a "staff not guest" area.

Jess & Freya

Once inside the hangar both can see that the EPI (escaped pirate infestation) probably originated from the open hatch leading to the park area to the west.

Western orange hatch from the catwalk on the map.

Freya proceeds along the catwalk in an orderly manner and gets her drone to peek through the (orange) door to the garden!

Jess leans in the doorway and watches her grenade arc in to strike the fighter. As it plunges out of the hangar she crows in delight then winces in pain. When Freya reaches her on her way along the catwalk Jess pulls herself into a military posture and joins her.

Grinning hugely: Second kill of the mission. Reckon yer c'n get me control'v the Guard missile battery? Might as well 'ave a crack at a proper Starship while I'm on a roll.

On unit channel: Dog, get Love to the Medbay, we'll clear up 'ere.

On squad channel: Charlie, bring the lads, we're goin' fer a walk in the park.

Switching to HQ channel: Boss, We've dealt with the pirates. Got some as 'ave stopped shootin'. D'yer want us ter take 'em prisoner again, or what?

Next we're checkin' the park. Likely that's where the rats got in, we'll find the 'ole an' seal it.

Meanwhile, in the area with the VIPs, Prerna and her team have the delegation checked for injuries, and then she has them gather their gear so they can move, if needed. Their own guard dogs can help watch over them during this evolution.

Kit (and just offstage Freya and Jess)

Kit opens the door and immediately sees two insurgent bodies on the second floor landing. It appears that both have taken military rounds to the head and are as dead as is possible. He cautiously climbs the stairs and at the next landing opens the door and crosses the small foyer to open the hatch and look westwards towards the central pool/park area along the southern east/west transit corridor through the guest accommodation block.

The corridor shows signs of battle but is empty (at least of the living) and Kit moves along it hugging the southern wall. At the first junction he sees this is as far as one part of the “invasion” got. The crossroads is slick with blood and piled with bodies. Kit reckons about ten - all equally dead from what looks to be high explosive rounds. Looks like the "home team" of Inchin amateurs matched enthusiasm against professionalism - and came second.

Crossing the next junction he notes a grenade blast has torn the area up. Then as he hears voices from the vehicle bay to the south two fully armoured figures drag another into the next crossroads to the west. Focussing on the casualty one speaks to the other in what must be a strange local dialect “She's sparko but breevin'. Get 'er plate off an' do a wound check. An' no coppin' a crafty feel, neither, yer blimper!”

Kit is the purple marker above.

The pair of what must be Mercs notice Kit and cover him with what he immediately recognises as ACRs but have the discipline to hold both their fire and aim. One shouts “Oi, stand still and loose the cannon or I'll make yer into soup!” His mate adds “Call 'im fekkin' “sir” he's wearin' a whistle”. The first speaker amends “Soup, sir” and maintains his aim at Kit. The second mercenary shouts into the hangar bay “Sarn't Major! There's an armed civvy out 'ere in a nice bit of schmutter”.

Any responding to the call will see a man of some bearing and presence armed with an autosnub pistol and carrying a hand computer wearing "business attire adapted for tactical movement".

(OOC: For reference the mercs are Charlie, Dog and the unconscious Love.

And as a translation aid: blimper = pervert, whistle (& flute) = suit, schmutter (east end/yiddish) clothing).

Frank

Frank receives a further boosted transmission from Captain Cabral “Colonel, I'm afraid I had my doubts and they were sadly confirmed - our fighter escort has bugged out. Inbound fighters are now entering Inchin orbit followed by the armoured merchantman. I have further contacts closing to orbit from the bigger trader. I will maintain my position for as long as I may”.

Kit

Kit raises his hands level with his face, his left hand is holding a portable computer and in his right hand, he drops the gun so that he is only holding it by the trigger on his index finger. Then he slowly bends down to put the gun on the ground. As he is bending down he is looking at the soldiers and says "Easy soldiers." in a calm voice. After the gun is on the ground, with his hand raised as high as his shoulders he says "I am Major Ankit Ghoshal, Imperial Marines Retired and I work here - please take me to your commander."
