You left the room with the red dot and traveled west (orange dot), the direction Felix spell indicted

Remember when we tried to smoke out that wererat? The smoke never actually came back out of that hole you know. It must have gone somewhere right?

He meant smoke out the wererat. you lit a fire and out it in the hole, the smoke never backed up into the room you were in, it was drawn into the hole.
