CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Kurot battles the gray-skinned ogre while backing toward the cart. If the other underdwellers attack the beast man, Kurot will hold his attack.
More if/then logic, but simpler: Kurot will attack, and will try to draw #5 back toward the cart to create some distance between himself and the other enemies (and give people on the cart a chance to fire missile weapons without risking hitting him instead). But if the other enemies fight #5, Kurot will let the creatures fight among themselves, reasoning that attacking at that point might draw their attention back to him. In short, he only attacks if it looks like the brutes aren't all fighting each other.
Axe: [1d20+3] = 16+3 = 19 [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2
Axe: [1d20+3] = 9+3 = 12 [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7
Axe: [1d20+3] = 17+3 = 20 [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5

Farmanus the Unneeded - Round 10
Farmanus moves forward 10 feet and crouches so as not to obstruct missile fire from behind.
Initiative [1d20+3] = 20+3 = 23
He holds his action, and will attack any enemy who follows after Kurot in his retreat.
Spear attack [1d20+4] = 1+4 = 5
Damage [1d8+3] = 5+3 = 8

Silvestri
If he can get a clear shot with his rifle on #3 or #6 then he will take it:
Initiative: [1d20] = 16
Rifle (Short Range 120): [1d20+3] = 20+3 = 23, dmg [1d12] = 1
A crit:
crit roll: [1d8+1] = 3+1 = 4
The bullet hits square on, but glances off some armour so does minimal actual damage. However the force knocks the creature to it's knees, giving Silvestri the opportunity for another shot:

Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Wounded, MacMak will slowly take steps to see if more danger can came from this tunnel (the one #11 came)
Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Denslow will get on the moving platform. He’s feeling sappy.

Tunnel Complex, 298D/81 (Afternoon)
OOC: From Round 9
Silvestri takes in the chaos of combat and selects two of the beast-men (#5 & #13). He focuses on their minds and changes their mood and emotional state into one of a messianic zealot. HE is their new god-head and their two kin (#3 & #6) are his mortal enemies! The pale ogres focus on their companions and rush to confront them, weapons flailing!
***
Round 10
Farmanus moves forward and crouches to give those to his rear an unobstructed field of fire. He holds and waits for any aggressive movement by the underdwellers, who are occupied fighting each other.
Silvestri aims and fires his pigmonn rifle into the retreating beast-man. (#6) The first bullet grazes the ogre (1pt. dmg) and knocks him to his knees. The psionist takes advantage of his prone opponent and fires another round into the creature’s chest! (5pt. dmg) It howls and babbles with pain, appearing to have difficulty breathing.
MacMak rejects Bruce’s offer to carry him to safety. The mutant seagull probes the edge of darkness to see if more danger lurks within its depths. Nothing but ink black silence greets him. (Roll by DM)
Bruce leaves the wounded manimal and moves to provide slingshot support for Kurot during the android’s withdrawal towards the rail sled.
Kurot moves back towards the tunnel vehicle, once his opponent charges into battle against its companion. He stands beside Farmanus and watches the pale-eyed hulks under Silvestri’s control.
Denslow reaches the platform and is assisted up the stairs. The plantient rests on the deck and ponders his mortality.

Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Denslow Initiative [1d20+3] = 2+3 = 5
Denslow asks, Do we attack the beast-things or no? I hate to be a stick in the mud, but if they are not our enemies then maybe we should loot the bodies and see if they have a stash near here.
He wipes some sap with a limb. I sure could use some healing here...

Farmanus the Unneeded
Initiative [1d20+3] = 10+3 = 13
Farmanus sees how the tide of battle has turned in the group's favour. He turns back to his newfound companions and, smiling through bloody teeth, nods - perhaps once too often.
Instinctively checking himself for further wounds, he comes to a sudden realisation. "I had stuff before. Now I don't."
He beseeches the odd collection of mutants and androids on the rail sled, "Did you guys see my stuff?"

Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Silvestri keeps his voice low so the beast-men can't hear:
"I've got a bit of healing, and you're at the top of my list Denslow. But first we need to handle the last two beast-men, the effect isn't permanent. Let me see if I can get them to weaken themselves more before we have to finish them off. Everyone be ready in case it doesn't work."
Initiative: [1d20] = 17
He calls out to the two beast-men:
"Mighty warriors! You have proven your loyalty, so much that I have decided that one of you will have the honour of being my primary bodyguard and second in command. But who should have this honour?...In order to prove which of you is the strongest and therefore the most worthy of such an exalted position, you must fight each other until one of you concedes the position or passes out and shows their weakness."
Silvestri keeps his rifle to-hand just in case this going wrong.

Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Kurot wonders at the power to make people think that their friends are actually their enemies. He makes a mental note to ensure that he stays on Silvestri's good side, then wonders if Silvestri's power works on cybernetic central processing units or only on meat brains. Best not to find out, he thinks.
He backs toward the cart, where he watches and waits for the two beast men to fight each other.

Tunnel Complex, 298D/81 (Afternoon)
Silvestri imposes a mental state into the two, wounded beast-men, commanding them to vie for supremacy as the messianic champion.
MacMak makes three attempts to activate his Ultravision, but the energy to see into the darkness fails to materialize. (I rolled three attempts and all failed. You may continue trying.) The manimal considers his severe wounds (8 Hit Points) might be the reason for his mutation failures.
Denslow contemplates the contents of the gray-skinned savage’s lair and mentions his need for binding and healing. The plantient is severely wounded. (2 Hit Points)
Farmanus assesses the extent of his battle wounds and works his way through the fog of memories, hindered by the recent head wound, for the location of his personal belongings. His fragmented recollection knows the lair is near, but not the exact location.
Kurot watches and waits for the gladiatorial spectacle initiated by his friend. His CPU tries to rationalize the science behind the influence Silvestiri has over these humanoids, and wonders if he can affect constructs like Bruce and himself. He intends to avoid that situation by favoring the psionist.
Belial pants on the deck of the rail trolley, seriously wounded. (16 Hit Points)

"I am disappointed in the whole situation. The only way for you to regain your honour is for you fight until there is only one of you left. Only then will the winner be worthy of being my lieutenant"

Farmanus the Unneeded
If his mouth weren't already open to allow breathing, it surely would be now. Astounded by the authority The Nice Man wields over the brutes and - having once been a nominal part of their group - swayed by substantial peer pressure, Farmanus humbly faces the psionicist, kneels, and pledges his allegiance.
"I will be your guard," he vows. "Command me - but..." he pauses, his mind rapidly sorting through the myriad possibilities that oath may entail, "I don't want to kill Bullseye or Mr. Apples."

Silvestri gestures to Farmanus
"Arise, we shall talk about the details of your service later, but I do not wish Mr Apples or Bullseye harmed. In fact Mr Apples was sorely wounded defending me so I shall use my powers to help heal him"
He heads over towards towards Denslow, whispering to Belial as he goes "Anytime, dude, so you'd better behave yourself" he winks, then says quietly to all "We need to be ready to take that guy out, my powers only going to last another quarter hour or so".
Upon reaching Denslow he heals the severely wounded tree-man:
